Question:

Need your advice dual hitch for adding a 4-bike bike-rack to a trailer hitch Hello, I really need your help on this as I am pretty new at this. My truck rated 10k-11k lbs Its been towing and it tow a trailer of 5k + 1.5k for safety = 7k total tngue I wish to add a bike rack 4 bike to the tow with the dual hitch extensions idea. This Thule Bike rack is pretty heavy one sorry not sure how much it weight with the 4 bikes added but itself weighted about 50lbs Thule Apex I see you mentioned the dual hitch extension for upto 5000lbs gross weight towing capacity. I would like to ask is there something in this dual extension family that can handle around 10k in total tow capacity trailer and bike together so we can haul the 4 bikes along with our trips? Thank you very much

We have a solution for you but it isn't a dual receiver but rather a stacked receiver ball mount. This won't be an adapter so won't reduce the tongue weight capacity of your trailer hitch like the adapter you asked about. It will allow you to use the top receiver for your 4 Bike Thule Apex # TH9025XT as long as your loaded tongue weight is within the parameters of your trailer hitch. You can also use a weight distribution system if desired at the same time.

My recommendation for you is the Replacement Shank for Gen-Y Adjustable Ball Mount - 2" Hitch - 7-1/2" Drop/Rise - 10K # 325-GH-304 or the Gen-Y Adjustable 2-Ball Mount w/ Stacked Receivers - 2" Hitch - 7-1/2" Drop/Rise - 10K # 325-GH-314.

If you need a higher rating if you are just over 10K you can use the Gen-Y Adjustable 2-Ball Mount w/ Stacked Receivers - 2" Hitch - 7-1/2" Drop/Rise - 16K # 325-GH-514 or # 325-GH-504 for just the shank.
