  • Boat Trailer Winch that Has Capacity for 18,000 lb Boat
With boat winches you generally only need 50 percent of the boats weight as the winch's weight capacity. So for a 18,000 lb boat like you have you'd need a winch with at least a 9,000 lb capacity. For that we have the Fulton XLT Powered Winch part # F500621 which has a 10,000 lb capacity and would be your best option. The strap is only 15 feet long though so you'd need to make sure you could get the boat within 15 feet from being fully on the trailer.

  • Recommended 4-Way Trailer Connector for a Boat Trailer
Hey Greg. I have two different types of 4-way connectors that take smaller wire. I have listed them below: 4-Pole Round - Pollak Heavy-Duty, 4-Pole, Round Pin Trailer Wiring Connector item # PK11402 - We do not have one with a pigtail but this connector accepts up to 12 gauge wire. 4-Flat - Hopkins Endurance 4-Way Flat Trailer Connector item # HM48110 - This connector has 16 gauge wire for the ground and 18 gauge for the other functions. What gauge wire is on your boat's connector?...

  • Do You Have A Replacement Handle For My Shelby Winch 5408B?
Hey Sid, We do not have a direct replacement handle for your Shelby Winch 5408B. The closest handle that we have is the Fulton # F501109 which is going to be the same 9" long handle. The oval mounting hole is 1/2" with the flat portion being 3/8". I would double check your winch and see if something with those measurements will work for you. If you see that the handle is not going to work, since Shelby is no longer in business, I recommend replacing the winch. Dutton-Lainson has a good...

  • Does Jif Marine 2-Speed Boat Trailer Winch with 20' Strap Have Brake
Hi Dave; the brake on the Jif Marine 2-Speed Boat Trailer Winch # 315-W3200D locks with every click of the gear as you turn the handle. There are two "brake pads" that grab the rotor near the drum and hold it in place. The small shift lock lever seen in the pictures of the winch allows you to disengage the teeth from the handle putting it in the neutral freewheel position and then back into place when you are using the winch. It isn't a standard hand brake like what is found on the # DL14881....

  • How To Determine Fit of the 3,200 Lb 2-Speed Boat Trailer Winch
The 2-Speed Boat Trailer Winch part # 315-W3200D is an excellent upgraded 3,200 lb winch for a boat trailer. In regards to mounting, not all winches use the same pattern so you'd need to compare the dimensions in the photo below to what you have now. I would not think any welding or cutting would be required but worse case you may need to drill a few holes.

  • Replacement for Discontinued Fulton T3205 Winch
The replacement that I recommend for your Fulton T3205 is the 2-Speed Boat Trailer Winch with 20' Strap and Brake - 3,200 lbs # 315-W3200D. This comes with a 20' strap and has a capacity of 3,200 lbs. I attached a review video of this winch for you to check out.

  • Winch Recommendation for 3,190 lb Boat
The 3,200 lb 2-Speed Boat Trailer Winch with 20' Strap and Brake # 315-W3200D will be sufficient to pull in your 3,190 lb boat if your trailer has rollers on it as that will make your boat easier to move. If you have bunks then it will technically work but you'll be pushing the winch to the limit so you'll want to use a winch with a higher weight rating like this one: - 3,700 lb Fulton High-Performance 2-Speed Trailer Winch with Handbrake # F142430 - Fulton Galvanized Winch Cable with...

  • Base Dimensions of Jif Marine 2-Speed Boat Trailer Winch # 315-W2500D
The base on 2-Speed Boat Trailer Winch # 315-W2500D measures 5-3/4 inches wide by 7-1/8 inches long. This is a very standard size and bolt pattern so it should fit on your trailer easily. I attached a review video for this for you to check out as well.

  • Looking for a Replacement Handle for a Knott Autoflex Hand Winch
If you were looking for a replacement handle, the hole opening on the Replacement Quick Attach Winch Handle for Dutton Lainson Winch - 9-1/2" # DL70330 will measure 15/32" by 5/8" and looks like it will be a good replacement for your Knott Autoflex winch. I do suggest measuring to confirm this though. However, if you are referring to the shaft/handle to change from one speed to the other, you will need to contact Knott directly. This is not a winch we carry so I cannot say if any of our...

  • Boat Trailer Winch to Replace Old Shelby 5470A Winch
You have a Shelby winch. Shelby is no longer in business so that exact winch is no longer available. But there are many other winches you could use even if the capacity is not exactly the same. A 3,200 pound winch such as # F412425 is a great option. This winch was designed for marine applications, so it is an excellent boat winch. It comes with a strap which is naturally corrosion resistant. If you are looking for something a little more budget friendly the Jif Marine winch # 315-W3200D...

  • Fulton T3205 Winch Replacement
Yes. The Jif Marine 2 Speed Trailer Winch # will work as a replacement for your old Fulton T3205 winch. It has the exact same 5.1:1 and 12.2:1 gear ratios as the T3205 and also comes with a 10" handle. I've attached a picture for reference to show some of the measurements-but this is a fairly universally mounted winch. The long holes on the bottom are 1" long and 1/2" from the edges of the plate; the center hole is 2-3/8" from the edge (center of the hole); the long hole at the top running...

  • Recommended Winch for a 3,500 lb Boat with Carpeted Bunk Boards
I spoke to the manufacturer Jif Marine, they informed me that the 2-Speed Boat Trailer Winch with 20' Strap part # 315-W2500D would not be sufficient for a 3,500 - 4,000 lb boat even with bunk boards. The bunk boards are certainly going to help but wont do as much as a set of rollers will like part # DL21741 in regards to reducing the size of winch needed to pull the boat in. Instead, I recommend taking a look at the 2-Speed Boat Trailer Winch with 20' Strap part # 315-W3200D which has...

  • Recommended Replacement Hand Winch for a Boat Trailer with a 6,500 Lb Boat
It is always a good idea to use a winch that is overrated for the purpose you will be using it for. A winch that is used near the bottom end of its capacity will last much longer then a winch used at the top end of its capacity. We do have wire rope options for a hand winch on your boat trailer but I recommend using a winch with a synthetic strap as this will last longer for marine applications in addition to causing less damage if the strap were to break. For your 6,500 lb boat, I recommend...

  • Picking Out Hand Winch for Trailer with 19 Foot Larson Boat
I believe your boat is around 3,000 lbs from what I was able to find on it but I'd recommend confirming that if you aren't sure. So to pick out a winch you'd just need to go with one that has at least a 1,500 lb capacity since the ratio for picking out a winch based on a boat weight is 2 to 1. The Jif Marine winch you mentioned part # 315-W3200D would be overkill as it has a 3,200 lb capacity but it would work really well and be easy to use. For a lighter duty winch that would still work...

  • Replacement for Shelby 5408B Boat Trailer Winch
The Jif Marine 2-Speed Trailer Winch part # 315-W3200D would be an excellent option to replace the Shelby 5408B Winch (1,900 lbs). It has a 3,200 lb capacity which will be suited for boats up to two times this so there should be no issues with the winch prematurely wearing down. It comes with a strap as well so no need to install one.

  • Replacement Handle for Dutton-Lainson Hand Winch DL1100A
While there is a replacement handle for your Dutton-Lainson Hand Winch # DL15103 (which is model DL1100A), the Replacement Winch Handle # DL5703657, a different handle will not give this winch a ratcheting mechanism. For that you would need to replace the winch entirely with the Single-Speed Boat Trailer Winch # 315-W1800D which has a ratcheting hand crank. This winch comes with a 20' strap and has an 1,800 lb capacity, though there are other capacities available: 2,000 lbs # 315-W2000D,...

  • Can Strap from Jif Marine Winch Come From Bottom of Drum
Yes, the strap on the # 315-W3200D can be installed so that it comes from the bottom instead of the top. However, doing so will reverse the switch and the direction you turn the handle for operation. The self-locking mechanism will work either way. The orientation you are describing with the drum facing the boat is how the winch is typically installed on a boat trailer.

  • Recommended Hand Crank Trailer Winch and Jack for 6K Boat
The general rule we use for selecting a boat trailer winch is 2:1 which means for a 6,000 lb boat we'd recommend a 3,000 lb winch. The Jif Marine 2-Speed Trailer Winch part # 315-W3200D is a great option for this rated at 3,200 lbs. It comes with a strap and clevis hook as well, pre-installed. It also has a two-speed operation, one for speed and one for power. You'd simply un-bolt the the old winch, drill a few holes for the new pattern, then bolt the new one in place. In regard to a new...

  • Determining Which Replacement Winch Can Replace Discontinued Shelby 5476 Strap Winch
I would be happy to help you determine which winch will replace your Shelby 5476 2800lb strap winch, but unfortunately since Shelby went out of business we do not have any way to determine its mounting hole pattern so you will need to measure the winch first. For example the Fulton 2-Speed Trailer Winch - 10" Long Handle - 20' Strap - Zinc - 3,200 lbs # F142424 has the 3200lb capacity and a strap like you were wanting. This winch has mounting hole measurements shown in the included diagram...

  • How to Pick Out Boat Winch for 2,550 lb Boat
Generally when picking out a winch for a boat trailer the ratio is 2 to 1 meaning you would need a winch with roughly half the capacity as the weight of the boat. With good rollers and a short winching distance the ratio increases to 3 to 1, but with long winching distances and wooden bunks like what you currently have the ratio is 1 to 1. The Jif Marine Winch # 315-W3200D that you referenced should work well for you although it may be a bit overkill. The Dutton-Lainson Hand Winch # DL14725...

  • Operation of Brake on JIF Marine 315-W3200D 2-Speed Boat Trailer Winch
The brake is strictly an On/Off proposition. When it's in neutral, the strap can be pulled out easily without the handle turning which is a nice feature. In neutral, the strap can be pulled out, but there isn't any sort of a brake.

Hey Richard, thanks for reaching out! I recommend the 3.2K Fulton F2 Fully Enclosed, 2-Speed Trailer Winch # FW32000101 because it was specifically designed around boat trailers and it has an enclosed design which helps with durability as well as the looks. If you want something a little more bare-bones then my recommendation is the 3.2K 2-Speed Boat Trailer Winch # 315-W3200D which has the standard open design. Both options come with a 20' strap and are rated higher than what you currently...
