The hitch is a perfect fit for my 2003 Wrangler, and the included hardware is of an excellent quality. Installation was extremely easy (I ended up using the 'reverse pull fishwire' technique as described in the instructions), and the entire process took no more than 7 minutes.

by:

Service was,top notch. Product came as advertised. However, for future reference please wrap the hardware bag in some type of foam wrapping as the hardware bag scratched up the finish where it was taped loosely to the hitch.

  • Can You Use Two Adapters Together While Flat Towing A 2000 Jeep Wrangler TJ
Using two adapters together would lower the weight capacity by 50% so you wouldn't be able to flat tow your Jeep using the Roadmaster Hitch Mounted Spare Tire Carrier w/ 2" Receiver Opening # RM-195225 and a high low adapter.

  • What is the Difference Between the Curt Hitches # 13430 and # 13408 for a 2006 Jeep TJ Wrangler
The biggest difference between Curt Hitch # 13430 and # 13408 is that the # 13430 has a round cross tube whereas the # 13408 has a square cross tube. This difference is primarily an aesthetic difference since both of these hitches have the same towing capacities. Another difference between the two hitches is how it attaches to the frame of your 2006 Jeep TJ. I attached a picture that shows the different mounting methods each hitch has. I also attached a picture of both of these hitches...

  • Can the Fuel Tank Be Removed from 2001 Jeep TJ With Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver 13408 Installed
From what I have found, there are four bolts holding the fuel tank in place at the back of your 2001 Jeep TJ. The Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # 13408 covers these bolts once it is installed, so it would have to be uninstalled in order to access them and remove your fuel tank. I recommend the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # 13430 instead. This hitch sits slightly further back, leaving those bolts accessible. There should be plenty of clearance to remove the fuel tank, although it may make...

  • Curt Hitch Recommendation for the 2002 Jeep Wrangler
Both the Curt hitch part # 13408 and the part # 13430 would work well on your 2002 Jeep Wrangler. Both have the same capacities and have 2 inch openings. The differences are that the # 13408 uses a different attachment method like you noticed and has a square cross tube whereas the # 13430 uses a round tube. Both are equally strong, some just prefer the look of one over the other. I attached pics of both of these hitches installed to let you decide which you like better. I attached install...

  • Will a Reese Class III Trailer Hitch Fit a 1985 and 2004 Jeep Wrangler?
I do have a few hitches that will fit these vehicles individually, however, there are no hitches which will fit on both your 2004 Jeep Wrangler and 1985 Jeep CJ-7. For your 2004 Jeep Wrangler, I recommend the Curt Trailer Hitch Class III # 13408. This hitch is confirmed to fit your Wrangler by Curt and we have test fitted the hitch on a 2004 Jeep Wrangler. The Aries TrailCrusher 1 Piece Rear Bumper # AA2157001 that you referenced is designed to fit your 2004 Jeep Wrangler with a standard trailer hitch like the Curt part # 13408 installed so this would work well without cutting the capacity of the hitch either.

  • Can a 1997 Jeep TJ Handle 2,500 Pounds Gross Trailer Weight to Tow ATVs and Gear
You will want to check the owners manual of the 1997 Jeep TJ for the official towing capacities but I am fairly certain it can handle 2,500 pounds of gross trailer weight. What you will want to add is a transmission cooler since you will be towing in the mountains. The extra weight of the trailer and items in it combined with the hilly mountainous terrain will put a lot of stress on the transmission. Adding a cooler will lower the temperature of the fluid and increase the life of the transmission. I...

  • Fit of Curt # 13408 Trailer Hitch on 1997 Jeep Wrangler w/ Smittybilt Aftermarket Rear Bumper
The hitches we offer for the 1997 Wrangler were designed with the stock bumper in mind. As long as your Smittybilt tube bumper doesn't sit any lower on the vehicle than the stock bumper would, the Curt # 13408 should fit. You can doe some measuring to confirm. Measure downward from the frame member where the hitch would attach by 1-3/4 inches. This is where the top of the receiver tube would sit.
