This pin-and-clip set secures the upper assembly of your Goalpost load bar in place in the lower assembly. The pin slides through holes in both bars, and the clip secures the pin in place so that the upper assembly rides at the correct height.

Hey everyone, I'm Ellen here at etrailer.com. Today, we're taking a look at the replacement pin and clip for the Thule Goalpost and the Thule Parkway. The Goalpost and the Parkway are going to both be available here at etrailer.com. These are items that need to have a pin to keep in place that pivot point, and then also be able to remove that, so that you can pivot it down into the storage position or maybe in the upright position, whatever the case might be. And this is a pretty universal pin with that capture pin or capture clip. So, it can be used for a lot of different things.
I'm going to go over some measurements with you to make sure that this is going to work for your application. So, this square kind of capture pin here, the inside measurement is about 2 5/8", really, I'd say it's about 2 1/2" of usable space inside there to make sure that it's going to fit around whatever you need it to. The pin itself, open that back up from the head to the very end of the pin, we have exactly 3" or pretty close to about 3" to work with that capture clip.It does have a little spring to it. It's about 2 1/2" again of usable space there to where it actually clips in place. So, even though the pin itself is 3" long, you can really only use about 2 1/2" before that clip kind of bottoms out.
It does have a little stretch to it, so it should work out all right, for just about anything that would fit inside that 2" or so. Open this back up and try not to snap my finger again. The diameter of the pin is about 3/8", the head is about 5/8", and the distance or the height of this capture clip is about 1 3/4". So, works out for a lot of different applications, a lot of different bike racks out there, including the Thule Goalpost and the Thule Parkway by carriers. But that's pretty much going to do it for our look at the replacement pin and clip for various Thule accessories..

This was an exact replacement for my Thule 934 hitch rack. This is the pin that allows the rack to be lowered for tailgate access. The very old original had grooves from 20 years of movement so there was more play in the rack than I cared for, Thank you etrailer. I looked far and wide for this part.

Replaced the top bolt of the Thule Parkway 958 with the same pin in the lower post. There is a stow position hole that the pin can be inserted in. This locks the carriage in a down position. When needed, the pin can be moved to the top position to allow loading of the bicycles on the carriage. The pin is a nice fit allowing little leeway or rattle. Left the lower bolt slightly loose to allow the carriage to pivot more freely. Very happy with the results. Now I won't run into the carriage as I walk around the truck. The pin was as advertised and well packaged when sent. Thanks.

Works to my requirements. Lets me pull down the rack without using any tools
When we are parked and remove the bikes it is easy to reset the rack. This item should be included in the bike rake assembly.

One year on, and it still holds up great, to all loads and stresses. Looking back, install was a bit more expensive than I had hoped, yet I would still rather have a quality hitch on my rig than a cheaper one just for the few dollars saved on installation

I have a Thule bike rack that mounts to my trucks trailer hitch. It was designed to use one of these so that you can fold down the "arms" that extend out that carry the bikes, BUT isn't included when you buy the rack. Thule just gives you a bolt, 2 washers, and a nylock nut. Switching this in to replace the bolt is a no brainer. The mount has a second set of holes to lock it in the folded position.

I bought this for my parkway bike rack. I used it for the top folding piece that holds the bike. Previously it was bolted with the nylon lock washers and was a pain because I would always have to get some wrenches to flip it up and then back down when I was done riding. I left one of the bolts and substituted this for the other one making setup a breeze and the pin is a good length so it sticks out about a half inch or so on other side. The pin is actually Silver not a huge deal but fyi.

It fits perfectly on the Thule 2 bike rack. I was disappointed with Thule only giving a "bolt" to hold their rack upward. Thule told me to return that rack and buy the next model +100.00 I sent them a nasty email. Found this quick release pin on a search field, ordered and it came within 3 days. It fit perfectly and kind of matches the one on the Thule bottom holder. Thank you E-trailer

I purchased a set of these "pin & clip" hitches as a back up to the two my current bike carrier has. I didn't know what they were called and with my 1st Google search, I find these.
I was very pleased this didn't take forever to find however I was much more pleased with how inexpensive they were.

Does the job. I use it on my Thule Parkway 4 bike rack. It can be tricky to get in sometimes, but that's due to the rack not the product.
