Expert Answers about B and W

  • Recommended Lubrication of B & W 5th Wheel Hitch
  • B & W recommends you lubricate the top surface of the coupler with an automotive type chassis grease like # L10337 or use a nylon lube plate like # RP83002 to provide a lubricated surface. They also recommend you grease the jaws with an automotive type chassis grease and grease the saddle through the grease zerk about every six months with multi-purpose grease like # L11316. This will allow the coupler to pivot freely. See the diagram I have included showing the location of the grease...

  • How to Remove a B&W Companion 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch from a Truck Bed
  • To uninstall the Companion hitch head, your will first remove the Saddle lock pins. Then grab the saddle handles and lift to remove the head from the pivot arms. Removing the head will make taking out the base easier since it won't be as heavy. To remove the actual Companion base, loosen the draw down bolt and retract the Turnoverball gooseneck latch pin handle all the way out. Carefully lift and position the Companion base out of the Gooseneck hitch socket. I have linked the instructions...

  • Easily Removable Fifth Wheel Hitch that Leaves Truck Bed Unobstructed
  • The Companion hitch part # BWRVK3500 is an easily removable hitch that will give you great access to the truck bed when not installed. You will need to have a B and W Turnover gooseneck hitch installed in your truck bed to use this hitch. Most fifth wheel hitches will require the installation of rails in the bed of the truck that will obstruct the bed slightly when a hitch isn't there, but the Companion will give you a totally empty truck bed. Feel free to email me back with your...

  • Can Locking Pins Be Used With B&W Tow & Stow 3-Ball Mount
  • I spoke with my contact at B&W about locking pins for the Tow & Stow 3-Ball Mount # BWTS10048B. He confirmed that pins can be used in the ball mount, but they need to be able to span the hitch, have a diameter of 5/8 inches, and be rated for 10,000 pounds. I found the longer of the 2 pins in the Rapid Hitch Trailer Hitch Lock and Adjustment Pin Lock Set # AM3492 to span the width of the Tow & Stow # BWTS10048B. I have attached some photos I took showing the adjustment pin lock in the...

  • B and W Turnover Gooseneck Hitch Recommendation for 2016 GMC Sierra 3500
  • For a B and W Turnover Gooseneck hitch confirmed to fit your 2016 GMC Sierra 3500 you would want the part # BWGNRK1016. The part # BWGNRK1012 that you referenced is for the previous years of the Sierra so it would not fit your truck. If you ever needed to tow a fifth wheel trailer you could just go with the B and W Companion part # BWRVK3500 as this will fit right into the hitch.

  • Dimensions of the B&W Tow and Stow 3-Ball Mount
  • The B&W Tow and Stow ball mount # BWTS10049B will have some great features. You can stow the mounting platform that has the 3 hitch balls (1-7/8, 2, and 2-5/16 inch) underneath your vehicle. This is nice because you will eliminate the possibility of hitting your shins while working around your hitch. The adjustable height will allow you the ability to tow trailers of different heights. The maximum drop is 7-inches and maximum rise is 7-1/2 inches. They are adjusted in 1-inch increments. I...

  • How to Tell if 2016 Chevy Silverado 2500 Has Factory Rail Kit for Fifth Wheel Hitch
  • Most likely you would know if you had the Factory Rail Kit in your 2016 Chevy Silverado 2500. There would be holes in the bed of your truck that the feet of a fifth wheel hitch would fit into. I attached a picture that shows what they pucks/holes would look like. If you have them the B and W Hitch part # BWRVK3700 that you referenced would fit and work well. Otherwise for an underbed fifth wheel hitch setup I would recommend the Demco Hijacker part # DM8550022 which will automatically...

The Buffalo Tools Electric Hoist # BTEHOISTUL will attach to a crossmember in your barn or garage to help lift the hitch in and out of the truck. The hoist winch includes mounting brackets to attach to the crossmember. A 4-point harness will be needed for the hitch in order to be secure while being lifted. When used as a single cable system, the winch has...

  • Difference Between B&W Companion Slider Hitch BWRVK3400 and BWRVK3400-5W
  • There is no difference at all between the B and W Companion hitch part # BWRVK3400 and the # BWRVK3400-5W. We use the -5W at the end of the part number to allow the hitch to show up in two different fitguides. One for the gooseneck fitguide and then one for the fifth wheel fitguide. The Companion setups are considered by many to be the nicest fifth wheel hitch around. The Companion slider is going to be a much better option than using an adapter to use the stationary Pro Series hitch.

  • Using Silencer Pad # BWTS35020 for Tow and Stow with Drop Down Pintle on 2009 Chevrolet Tahoe
  • I spoke with my contact at B&W and since the Silencer Pad, # BWTS35020, is a universal product, it will fit differently on each vehicle and some may need to use greater force in order to get the hitch pin holes on the ball mount to line up with those on the hitch. Please keep in mind that the silencer pad installs between the face of the hitch on your 2009 Chevrolet Tahoe and the back of the Tow & Stow. No part of the silencer should be pushed into the hitch receiver opening. I have...

  • Comparing B&W # BWRVK3300 w/ Reese # RP30143 5th Wheel Hitch for 2015 Ford F350 w/ OEM Tow Prep Pkg
  • Both hitches are of the highest quality, you wouldn't go wrong either way. Given that you'll be on uneven terrain, you'll do better with the B&W # BWRVK3300, as its head pivots 8 degrees front to back and side to side, versus 4 degrees for the Reese Elite Series # RP30143. Even through the # BWRVK3300 has the lower capacity at 20K, it will pull your 18K toy hauler with no problem at all, as long as it doesn't go over the 20K capacity of the hitch.

  • Comparing the B&W Patriot and Demco Hijacker AutoSlide Sliding 5th Wheel Hitches
  • We do not offer the Pullrite brand but in my research it does appear to compare to our Demco Hijacker AutoSlide like # DM8550024. Both the B&W and Demco 5th wheel hitches are great for the short bed user. What will make the difference is the clearance needed by the user to have adequate turning clearance. For me personally also effort. I have personally had to slide the B&W 5th wheel hitch # BWRVK3270 and it was by far one of the easiest, by a landslide, since the unit was built...

  • The B and W Companion Sliding Fifth Wheel Hitch, # BWRVK3500, will work on a 2014 Ram 2500 short bed as long you have a B and W Turnoverball gooseneck hitch installed on the truck. If you do not have a gooseneck hitch installed in your truck, then you can install the B and W Turnoverball Gooseneck Hitch, # BWGNRK1384. • There is no difference between the B&W Underbed Trailer Hitch part # BWGNRK1313 and part # BWGNRK1313-5W. The reason they are listed separately is because we want to make them easy to find for both gooseneck and fifth wheel searches. These are both capable of being used as a gooseneck hitch and also can be used with the Companion fifth wheel hitches. With your 2007 Ram 2500 and an 8 ft bed I recommend going with the B&W Companion Gooseneck-to-5th-Wheel Trailer Hitch Adapter, part #...
