Pewag is one of the original snow tire chain manufacturers. Based in Austria, this company makes everything from basic, ladder-style chains to premium, automatically adjusting tire chains. Each product line offered by Pewag has its own set of features and benefits, as detailed below.
Standard chains done right, these traditional, ladder-pattern snow chains are made of high-quality material for lasting effectiveness. The installation on these chains is more involved than it is with Pewag's premium lines, but if you're looking for rugged durability at a good price, the All Square chains are for you.
Construction
Nickel manganese alloy steel is strong and corrosion resistant
Square links provide good traction in snow and excellent grip on ice
Standard ladder pattern provides good traction as you drive forward
Installation
Lay chains out in front of your tires
Drive onto chains
Hook chains around tires
Tighten chains manually
Twist cams are available on some chains to ease adjustment
Rubber adjusters can be purchased separately to help achieve perfect fit
Or...
Drape chains over stationary tire
Move vehicle forward, turning wheel so that you can reach around to access the rear of the tire
Pewag's CL chains offer excellent coverage along with simple installation. A tensioning chain is used to fit the chains, making installation easier than with traditional chains.
Construction
Titanium alloy steel is strong, durable and corrosion resistant
Square links provide good traction in snow and excellent grip on ice
Diamond pattern provides great tire coverage for increased chain-to-road contact
Excellent traction and stopping power when driving forward and when making turns
Installation
Arrange chain behind the tire with the tensioning lever, tensioning spring, and tensioning chain facing out.
Place the mounting cable at an angle across the top half of the tire and hook it to the chain.
Drive forward slowly. This will pull the chain onto the tire. Remove the mounting cable.
Connect the side chains on the inside and outside of the tire.
Hook the tensioning chain to the side chain with the integrated lever. Then twist the lever to pull the tensioning chain taut and secure it in place.
Pewag's ASV chains offer the best coverage with an asymmetrical pattern that runs across your tire's tread. This "full coverage" chain is designed for heavy-duty applications and severe weather conditions. Installation is identical to that of the CL chains.
Construction

Square links provide good traction in snow and excellent grip on ice
Asymmetrical pattern provides superior tire coverage for the best chain-to-road contact
Exceptional forward, lateral and stopping traction

One of Pewag's premium lines, the Sportmatik tire chains install in a snap. Just wrap each chain around your tires, make the required connections and activate the built-in tensioning devices to automatically tension the chains as you drive off.

I drive my Land Rover SUV on unpaved Forest Service mountain roads. In the Winter, I encounter snow, snow & mud, ice, mud, and worst, snow with a layer of ice underneath. The type of chains I am looking for should provide forward/reverse and lateral (skid?) protection. Which one of your products would you recommend? Thank you.

@Maaz Let's start with the actual year/make/model vehicle and the tire size. With that specific info, I'll have enough info so I can make some recommendations for you.

@Maaz Your owner's manual says that 'only approved' chains should be used, but doesn't elaborate or specify exactly which chains can be used. It would be a pretty good idea to consult with your local Land Rover dealer for clarification. Class S chains are designed for situations where there's limited clearance between the inside of the wheel and the brake/suspension components, so that's probably what they'll recommend but unfortunately the Class S chains we offer aren't designed for off-road use.
Hello Trent, For your 2024 Jeep Gladiator Sport S Max Tow, the CSS-1195 Coil SumoSprings are the right choice because they’re specifically designed to match the spacing and geometry of your Gladiator’s coil springs. The key detail is the inner wall…
The #CSS-1168R and #CSS-1195F are only confirmed to fit the FWD models but that doesn't mean there aren't Coil SumoSprings for your 2023 Sienna AWD. To find the right size you will need to measure the gap between in the middle of the coil.…
Some newer cars, vans and small trucks, especially those with large, aftermarket tires, may require the use of Class S chains. Class S tire chains are designed for use on vehicles with restricted wheel well clearance. I have attached a photo that…
The pewag Servo RS Tire Chains #PWRSV79 have a thicker chain link of 3.5mm where the Chains #PWRS79 are 3.2mm thick. Both sets are going to be S-class rated which according to the owners manual for your 2023 Subaru Outback Wilderness will allow them…
I took a look at the online version of the owner's manual for your 2018 Subaru Outback and it does state that the vehicle has very limited wheel well clearance. This means you will want to go with a tire chain set that is Class S compatible,…
Hi Roger; all of these are Class S compatible so while clearance varies slightly it will be comparable between the ones you're looking at. If you're looking for something that will work in an emergency, and you are getting these because…
Hello Spencer. For deep snow and ice you are actually going to want the same kind of chain, the Titan Chain Snow Tire Chains for Wide Base Tires - Ladder Pattern - V-Bar Links - 1 Pair #TC3831 would be a great fit for your F350 with tire size…
Twist link chains offer excellent traction in deep snow and some are even rated for mud. They provide decent traction on ice, and since they have rounded edges ride quality isn't too bad. V-Bar chains are similar but have better grip on ice. For…
I attached a link to a page that has all of the snow chains we offer that will fit the 305/65-18 tire size for you to check out. The Titan Chains part #TC3831CAM that you referenced have been confirmed to fit this size and would give you excellent…
A set of tensioners like the part #TCMA3 are a great idea with the Titan tire chains part #TC2327 that you mentioned. Since these are rubber they would not scratch your wheels at all. The Titan chains don't normally require additional tensioners…
I am far from an expert on snowmobiles but one would have to think such a large truck with the correct tires and chains would be able to make it through up to 2' of snow assuming you have clearance on the vehicle. In regards to the type of tire…
If you are running tire size 275/60-20 the Titan Chain Alloy Snow Tire Chains - Diamond Pattern - Square Link - 1 Pair #TC2533 will work great for you. The diamond pattern offers multi-directional traction and great stopping power on snow or ice. We…
