RV Steps with 30 Inch Width
Wider steps make entries feel easier and more secure. A 30 inch wide step gives you extra room for stable footing when loading up or helping guests in and out. To dial in fit, measure your entry height and mounting bracket width, and compare mounting hole spacing on your coach before you bolt it up.
Yes, the extra width and added step can make entry easier. Verify your entry height so a 3-step extends and retracts with good ground clearance. If it's an electric step, confirm your wiring and door switch type before installing.
Apply 12V power directly at the motor terminals to see if the motor runs. If you hear harsh noises, inspect the linkage. Clean all connectors with electrical contact cleaner and protect with dielectric grease. Verify the door switch is working and correctly matched to the control.
Measure the mounting bracket width and compare the mounting hole spacing. Check your entry height to match the step count you want. On some older motorhomes the bolt pattern may not match, but there's usually room on the mounting plate to modify.
Match the new harness to your RV harness and note any extra heavy-gauge red wire from the old setup—it may have powered another feature. If the new steps work, cap the extra. Confirm your door switch type; some rigs use normally closed and the new steps may need normally open.
