RV Steps by Stromberg Carlson with pull-out design
Step in with confidence using Stromberg Carlson RV steps with a pull-out step. They stow neatly and feel solid underfoot on campers and trailers. Verify your mounting width, bolt pattern, and entry height to keep ground clearance in check; some installs may call for moving outriggers, adding a plate, or drilling new holes.
Match the step count to your entry height and door position. Moving from a single to 2 or more steps can reduce the first-step height, but verify you have ground clearance so the assembly doesn't extend too far down. Some 2-step units can have a 6-7" drop to the top step, so check the rise to suit your trailer's layout.
Installation can be straightforward when holes align, taking minimal time. If your frame differs, plan on drilling or shifting brackets; welding or bolting both work. Use locking nuts to help prevent crushing a box-beam frame and avoid overtightening. Verify smooth pull-out and retraction after mounting.
Confirm braces support both sides and nothing was assembled backwards. Make sure the steps pull out and push back smoothly and stay retracted until you're ready to use them. Check that the retracted step doesn't protrude past the tire and doesn't hang too low for your setup. If your trailer is lifted, consider more steps to reduce the first-step height.
They can, but measure your bracket width and bolt-hole spacing to be sure. Double steps are often wider than singles, so you may need to move or add outriggers. If holes don't line up, adding a plate and redrilling is a workable option. A tight fit can be eased with a floor jack and a rubber mallet to align the front holes before drilling the rear.
