  I went out into our warehouse and pulled a Optronics Trailer Lights # QH16CTS and found that the wires come out of the back of the light assembly and not through the mounting post. I checked all of the other pedestal halogen lights we carry and they all have the lights coming out the back of the assembly like this unit. It would be just a matter of drilling a hole and installing a grommet to run the wires.

• How To Choose The Correct Halogen Bulb For A 12V Ceiling Light System
  Halogen bulbs come in 120 volts, 24 volts, and 12 volts so if you're placing it in a 12v light then you'll just want to make sure your 20 watt bulb is 12v. Higher voltage bulbs won't have enough power and will produce a dimmer light. There should be some indication on the packaging and/or bulb stating the voltage and wattage.   I went and pulled a 55-Watt Halogen Area Utility Light # QH16CTS from our warehouse to measure the diameter of the mounting stud and found that it is .3 of an inch (or 5/16 inch) and the nut on the stud is .5 of an inch in diameter. So if you wanted to use this on your setup you would need to use a washer with a hole in the center of it that is about .3 inches in diameter and an overall diameter of about 3/4 of an inch.
