Features to know about

Adds a Bed-Mounted 7-Way Plug: Clean Connection for Fifth Wheels and Goosenecks

Hooking up a fifth wheel or gooseneck trailer usually means crawling under the truck to reach the bumper plug. This T-connector adds a 7-way socket right in the truck bed, giving you a direct, clean connection for your trailer wiring. It keeps cords out of the way and makes coupling faster and safer.

Installs Without Cutting Factory Wires: Plug-In Design

Instead of splicing or tapping into your truck’s wiring, this harness plugs in line with the existing factory connector. The plug-in design keeps the factory setup intact and avoids guesswork with wire colors. You just disconnect the factory plug, insert this harness inline, and you’re ready to go.

Reliable 7-Blade Connector: Standard Power and Signal for Heavy Towing

The 7-blade socket gives you all the functions you need for heavy-duty towing—running lights, turn signals, brake lights, reverse signal, trailer brakes, and 12-volt power. It’s the same style used on most large trailers, so you can connect without extra adapters or conversions.

Keeps the Bed Clear and Wiring Protected: Durable Plug and Lead

With its molded plug and lead construction, the wiring is protected against moisture and wear in the truck bed. The setup stays tucked out of harm’s way while keeping a solid electrical connection for consistent trailer lighting and brake control every time you tow.

Video Transcript for Pollak Custom Fit Vehicle Wiring Vendor Review

Hey there, neighbors, Kevin with etrailer. And today we have a friend Steven here from Pollak, which is a well-known name in a multitude of industries, both on the aftermarket and OEM sides. And today he's here to just kind of give us a little bit more base knowledge with the variety of products they offer, so that way you can make a more informed decision when you are purchasing these electronics. So Steven, why don't you just kind of start breaking it down, give us a quick overview of what all we have out on the table. Sure. Thank you.

Appreciate it. A lot of people may not realize that Pollak is the OEM, original equipment manufacturer of choice for most vehicles on the road today. APVs, SUVs, pickup trucks, and the like. Really, when you talk about RV trailer tow, you are really talking about electric brake. So to give you an idea, this may be one of the most popular items on pickup trucks today, which is our seven and four-way combination.

And this plugs into what they call a USCAR harness on the back of the vehicle. So if you damage it or you want to disconnect it, you can do that. And this is what you would find on the back of any particular car or truck, SUV, APV, underneath that. But we also make this as a four-foot harness set up on the USCAR harness for upfit applications if you would like to upfit a vehicle that does not have trailer tow, and you'd like to install a seven and four-way or just a standard seven-way and have a factory connection. These fit together.

Once you set it up, it's plug-and-play. It's very easy. Now, we also have a wire-up version, which is the same basic concept, but I would like to go through because a lot of people don't really realize what goes into making a connector for the original manufacturer. This has dual stainless steel springs, it's self-cleaning. There's a hole that drains out the sand, the pebbles bounce out, it doesn't break the lid.

Ergonomic rib tab, circuitry on the front, seal in the lid. And again, it's plug-and-play. So it's a really nice design. And our wire-up version has the same double stainless steel springs, self-cleaning, ergonomic rib tabs, seal in the lid. Now, these, even though there's a seal, it's water-resistant, but none of these are waterproof. They're not designed to be, they're designed to drain if you do get water in. So it's important. We also have a fifth-wheel adapter setup, which will connect, you take your connector off on the vehicle, you pop this in, put your connector back on, and then you can run this eight-foot up into the trailer bed for your fifth-wheel connection. And so that's a well-known product with us. And we also make an upfit version, which the connector is not attached to it, so you can drill a smaller hole. And that's in the catalog. And then, of course, the original single-swipe design, which is the RV industry standard. This is our basic plug. You can also buy it attached to an eight-foot harness, and you can replace your trailer harness, plug and harness, and it's encapsulated. This is waterproof on the back. So it's really a nice product, very heavy-duty. And then we also have six ways, seven ways, heavy duties. But today's focus is really on the electric brake market. And then we have an adapter harness also for your older Chryslers that have an eight-pin, and then you can convert it over to a seven-pin, and that would, again, be a plug-and-play for that. So these are your basic trailer tow products for the RV market and also your vocational market. And one thing I use quite a lot here is your guys' adapters. And I don't have it on the table today, but it essentially is going to look the same as this plug right here. So this is like your replacement plug for your seven-way on your trailer. But they have another version where it's got a seven-to-four pole adapter, so that way you can easily just plug in. Could you tell us a little bit more about those adapters Because like I said, I use it almost every day with our test box so I can send light signals through and test stuff on a trailer. Yeah. So yes, we make a variety of adapters that make it easy to tow any vehicle. Now, one thing we can hear as a somewhat frequent question is, you know, "Can I just go ahead and throw this on instead of using the plastic You know, with this being metal, it's a lot more heavy-duty. I don't have to worry about it getting broken." What would you say in response to that Yeah, so, actually, these are considered nylon. They're high-impact, so they won't break when they get cold. and they're all made, you know, like I said, they're not necessarily plastic, but they're nylon. Now, a lot of people think, "Well, I'm going to buy heavy-duty, and I want it metal." And the truth of the matter is, on your recreational vehicle, the plastic is a better option. But these are really a pin-style connector. If you notice on your electric brake, they're what we call a blade-style. So this is a little bit different. This is what you're going to find on your tractor trailer or a heavy-duty, what we consider heavy-duty vehicle or heavy-duty market. Pin-style, you would not use this in a recreational or on a recreational vehicle, or a basic pickup truck because it's really made for our products that use air brakes, and so you don't run a brake through this particular connector. All right, well, that is going to do it for our look at the variety of different electrical components that Pollak offers here at etrailer. But I did want to also thank you for your time, Steven, and for coming out in training not only me, but also the rest of our customer service here, so that way they can provide better service for you while you're out on your journey as well. Thank you, Kevin. I really appreciate it. Yep. It was great to see etrailer. If you are looking for products to tow on your electrical hookup, this is the place to come.
