This is the second Pro Series Friction Sway control bar I have purchased, and like the first, this one installed easily and will give me many years of service.

by:

I bought the sway control to replace one which was lost. It appears to be a drop in replacement at a great price.

by:

I purchased a sway bar kit and it was exactly what I wanted. The product was well built and installed easily with very good instructions. Shipping was prompt. I would definitely buy from etrailer again.

by:

All items were received with the order. The order was quickly shipped and arrived quickly as well. My interaction with Customer Support was also much better than received from your competitors (basically I received no support from your competitors, I only received a form letter as a response to my questions).

Installation was simple, although I broke/ stripped out 2 of the screws that hold the friction mount to the trailer (I would think that stronger screws would be included, but the problems were partially my fault as well).

I am very satisfied with the products and service received from eTrailer.com.

Thank you,

dp

by:

Installation was simple and setup was easy. I was really glad to have the sway bar when I encountered very high swirling winds on my trip through Tulsa, Oklahoma. The trailer was stable and tracked well, even though I was very concerned about how the trailer would track in traffic with the very gusty swirls. I noticed a trailer on the highway without a sway bar and it was porpoising the tow vehicle significantly. You can tow a trailer with confidence with one of these in use.

by:

The Reese Friction Sway Control Kit is a great product.

by:

Fast delivery and simple installation

Simple to install and works flawlessly really makes a difference

by:

As it turns out, I didn't need it on my Suby set-up, but I will likely use it on my new van/trailer combo. A few years ago I had a Reece sway control on another vehicle and it fixed the dreaded swing-a-ding immediately! You'll definitely know if and when you need one! so pls do get one - it may safe a whole lot of trouble.

Functions as it should.

Seems to fit … hopefully will work like my previous anti-sway bar.
Sadly the box came damaged but all the contents were accounted for.

  • Will Friction Sway Control Stop Swaying Trailer that Already has Weight Distribution
Hey Mike, so a friction sway control unit like the part # 83660 can help stop some of the sway that starts from wind or passing semis but if you are experiencing persistent sway once you hit a certain speed that will only be fixed by increasing the amount of tongue weight in your trailer relative to the total trailer weight. You need to have between 10 and 15 percent of the total trailer weight as tongue weight. Or your trailer may be sitting too nose high and you'd need a ball mount...

  • Recommendation for Adding 2nd Friction Sway Control Bar to Trailer
To add a second friction sway control, you will need the second Reese Friction Sway Control Kit # 83660 and you'll need to weld a tab onto your trailer hitch ball platform like # C45822. The friction bar will simply be inverted on the left side, but that will not impact the function and is designed for use on either side. I've attached an article to assist and 2 bars are recommended on trailers over 26 feet long or if you simply want more sway control. The other option is to use a weight...

  • Weight Distribution And Sway Control System For A 17' Trailer That Weighs 4,200 Pounds Dry
Good question John! I have two options for you to choose from. One is more of an "entry level" system and the other is a more premium system. Either will absolutely work with your trailer and your 2025 Honda Passport (I double checked in your owners manual and it said you can use weight distribution). "Entry Level" Option: Reese Pro Round Bar Weight Distribution w/ Sway Control - 6,000 lbs GTW, 600 lbs TW # RE34FR -This comes with everything you need and will get the job done. But, with...

  • Is It Okay to Back Up With a Weight Distribution System That Uses Torsion Bars
The only Weight Distribution (WD) systems that we have listed on our site that you shouldn't back up with incorporate the use of a friction sway control like the Reese # 83660. You can backup, but the friction sway control must first be disconnected otherwise you will damage it. If your system is just using trunnion bars, like the Reese Strait-Line # RP66084 does, then you should not have to worry about it. In this case it would be best to check with the manufacturer to see what they...

  • Curt Sway Tab Weld On Position For Ball Mount and Friction Sway Control # 83660
You will want to mount the tab # C45822 to work with the sway bar you are using. I recommend following the Pro Series instructions of # 83660 for best function since that is the friction sway bar you are utilizing. I've also included the diagram to help with the location of the tab for both width and depth so you will also want to ensure it is 5-1/2 inches on center from ball to ball.

  • Recommended Friction Sway Control System For Dual Friction Setup
For the dual friction you are looking for, I recommend adding the Reese Friction Sway Control Kit - Economy - by Draw-Tite, Reese and Hidden Hitch # 83660 to your hitch ball. This adjustable friction sway bar can be added using the Reese Sway-Control Bracket for 2" Ball Mounts - Class III and IV # RP26003 or the 1-1/4 inch ball mount bracket # RP26005. It is recommended to pull the cotter pin to disengage this bar when backing up. You can also expand this system by adding another bar...

  • Troubleshooting Surge Brake Boat Trailer that Makes Slamming Sound When Hitting Bumps
Is your trailer sitting as level as possible? Sounds like it could be sitting possibly nose high and combined maybe with a bit of play in the ball mount is creating the slamming you are experiencing. It's also possible your surge actuator has a bad shock and the bump is causing the actuator to apply and release the brakes quickly which is causing what you described. If you can push in on the front of the actuator you should be able to see the actuator somewhat slowly rebound to the fully...

  • Can Reese WD Head RP58167 Be Mounted To A BulletProof Hitch Ball Mount?
Hello Blaine, thanks for reaching out. BulletProof does sell a sway control 2-ball platform part # BPH76RR which can be used with a friction sway bar like the Reese # 83660. The Replacement Head # RP58167 you were looking at is for the Reese weight distribution system. If you intend to use a Reese WD system you will need to get a WD shank like part # RP69FR. • Electronic vs. Mechanical Sway Control and How to Select One to Match Trailer
You ask an interesting question. If your 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee has the factory-installed trailer sway control (TSC) system already and you are also using a mechanical weight distribution/sway control hitch system I do not recommend adding a third system. These items can tend to fight each other and could even make handling worse when used together. The electronic systems like your factory TSC and the aftermarket systems operate differently than the mechanical weight distribution/sway...

  • Can Sway Bar be Used with Trailer Hitch for 2018 Audi Q7
Based on my research, your 2018 Audi Q7 features a 7,700 pound towing capacity if you have the 3.0L engine. If you happen to have the 2.0L engine, the towing capacity of the vehicle is 4,400 pounds, so I do recommend verifying the limits of the vehicle by checking the owner's manual or asking the dealer you are working with. You will need to adhere to the weakest component in your setup, even if the trailer hitch itself has a higher rating. In cases when a weight distribution system cannot...

  • Will Friction Sway Control Bar be Effective for 27 Foot Trailer Pulled by Ram 3500
Adding a simple friction sway control bar is a great idea for when you are traveling down the highway; it will make towing your trailer in crosswinds less of a white-knuckle situation. Since you mentioned a 27 foot trailer it is recommended that you use two of the Friction Sway Control Kit # 83660 for optimum stability; a pair of these kits is going to give you the best amount of sway control. Using just one kit on a 27 foot trailer like your Coleman won't be quite enough. To use two...

You sure can! You would just mount either the Curt Friction Sway Control # 17200 or Reese Friction Sway Control # 83660 to the frame of your Travel Trailer. You will then add the Reese Sway-Control Bracket # RP26003 to your ball mount if you have a 2" trailer hitch receiver, or # RP26005 if you have a 1-1/4" trailer hitch receiver. For your 20 Foot Outback Enclosed Trailer, the Reese Friction Sway Control Kit - Economy # 83660 will use friction to minimize the movement by basically sandwiching the moving bar. This will allow for turning to still happen without issue, but will need to be removed for backing up, which is easy with a single pin removal. Hey Neil, thanks for reaching out! According to my research your E2 system just has weight distribution and no sway control so I recommend welding the Tab # 3442 on your weight distribution head and then adding the Reese Friction Sway Control Kit # 83660 to add that sway control. Load leveling is what Volkswagen calls what we refer to as weight distribution. As convenient as the price of a sway control kit is, I highly recommend going with a Weight Distribution (WD) system instead. • What Hitch Ball Does Blue Ox Weight Distribution System Use?
For the weight distribution hitches from Blue Ox that have a gross towing weight of 20,000 lbs, # BXW2000 and # BXW2003 you only need a hitch ball with either a 1" or 1-1/4" diameter shank.
