Can Reese WD Head RP58167 Be Mounted To A BulletProof Hitch Ball Mount?

Published 11/15/2024

Question:

I currently own a bullet proof hitch and want to purchase the Reese system. Bulletproof hitch makes a weight distribution adapter I believe you sell it. The bolt pattern spacing shows 1 1/4” of spacing center of each bolt hole. I see the Reese hitch head is about 3 3/4” of bolt spacing. Will this hitch head work with the bulletproof hitch adapter?

Hello Blaine, thanks for reaching out. BulletProof does sell a sway control 2-ball platform part # BPH76RR which can be used with a friction sway bar like the Reese # 83660.

The Replacement Head # RP58167 you were looking at is for the Reese weight distribution system. If you intend to use a Reese WD system you will need to get a WD shank like part # RP69FR.

The shank from a BulletProof ball mount like part # MD204 cannot be used with the # RP58167 head. You will need a shank specifically for a WD hitch. The head need a solid shank to attach to. It cannot mount to a channel.

I understand it won’t work with a channel. The bulletproof heavy duty weight distribution adapter mounts in the bulletproof hitch channel and then allows a WD hitch head to be bolted to the bulletproof adapter. I’m trying to find out if the bolt spacing of the Reese WD hitch head will mount to the bulletproof WD hitch adapter. Thanks!

@Blaine Ok gotcha you are talking about the Weight Distribution Shank for BulletProof Hitches Adjustable Ball Mount # 358WEIGHTDIST. To answer your question then, yes, the # RP58167 head will work with this adapter. They use the exact same hole spacing. The 1-1/4" hole spacing is standard for WD heads and shanks. Sorry if I misunderstood the question at first.
