Best Rear Suspension Enhancement For 2026 Ford Expedition

Updated 03/05/2026 | Published 03/01/2026

Question:

Good day, I just picked up a 2026 Ford Expedition Tremor. Just looking for some towing support. Wondering what products you could recommend. I will be towing a large fibre glass 22 foot fishing boat thats about 5700-6500 lbs with a tongue weight probably averaging between 450 to 630 lb. Been seeing a lot of the Sumo Coil springs, but looking for the best option for my towing needs. Looking forward to your answer. Thank you, Warren

Hey Warren, thanks for reaching out and congrats on the new Expedition. For your 22-foot fiberglass boat in that 5,700 to 6,500 lb range, you’re smart to look at rear support. For the 2026 Expedition, the SumoSprings Custom Helper Springs # CSS-1168R are the suspension enhancement option we offer. They install inside the factory rear coils and provide progressive support under load, helping reduce sag, keep the vehicle level, and improve overall stability without changing your unloaded ride or requiring maintenance.

If your main goal is keeping the rear from squatting and maintaining a confident, controlled feel on the highway and at the ramp, the SumoSprings are a simple, reliable solution.

I have a Bronco Raptor and tow a trailer with this almost all the time being that my suspension is soft from the get go, I have added these and they keep the truck level. I have around 480lb tongue weight along with gear in the back and a 130lb 40' Nitto MUD Tire hanging off the rear of my Bronco its sits completely level. If I know I am not towing I will slide these up and down the coils to find the best ride. Once you do this once lock it in.

@Christopher Hey Christopher, thanks for sharing. Glad to hear the coil helpers are working so well for you. That's a great tip about sliding them up and down to lock in the best results. I'll definitely be keeping that one in mind!

I added the Sumo Springs to my 2021 Expedition. They were very easy to install. I tow a 20' enclosed trailer, about 6,000 pounds with 500lb tongue weight. Before the springs it squatted a couple of inches in the rear with the trailer attached. With the springs the Expedition sits level. I don't notice any difference in the ride when I'm not towing, and have not experienced them sliding down like some other people have. Overall, very pleased with these.

@MattC Thanks for the feedback, Matt. Glad to hear the coil helpers made such a noticeable difference. That's great they didn't make the unloaded ride rougher too. Thanks again for sharing!

I pull a 32 foot travel trailer weighing 9000 lbs with a tongue weight of 800 to 900 lbs. I have towed it with and without the sumo springs. With the springs it doesn't squat as much as it did before. Very easy to install.
