Specs:
One of the more popular cooling systems available, the radiator-style, plate-and-fin heat exchanger provides increased surface area so that fluids can spread out along the finned chambers to cool faster. In addition to the increased surface area, this cooler also features turbulator technology, whereby fluids are agitated continuously, not only to facilitate heat transfer, but also to prevent any undesirable drop in pressure.

Hi there, I'm Michael with etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna take a quick look at this Derale Series 9,000 class III plate-fin transmission cooler with NPT inlets. This is a radiator-style heat exchanger that's going to help improve the performance and overall functioning of your vehicle's transmission. It's gonna help prevent heat-related failures and prolong the life of your transmission. This does have furnace-brazed aluminum construction, so it's gonna do a great job, hold up really well for you conducting that heat back and forth, letting that heat transfer so it gets cooler. It does have the 3/4-inch-wide turbical plates for more efficient cooling for you.
This is gonna provide more surface area so that the fluids flowing through can spread out along the finned chambers so they can cool the fluid faster. This is going to also include turbulator technology that has all these little bumps along the way, so it's going to help agitate the fluids so that rather than just flowing through and only the portions that are touching the aluminum construction transferring that heat, it's going to make sure that all of that fluid is agitated so that heat can disperse quicker and have no undesirable drop in pressure for you. So this is gonna be recommended for your medium-size cars, compact trucks, and SUVs with a gross vehicle weight rating of 17,500 pounds or less. It's gonna be great for light-duty towing when you're really putting your engine through its paces. Helping to keep everything running cool is gonna make sure it's gonna have better performance and do a better job for you for the long time to come.
So this is going to have an overall width of just shy of 10 inches. I calculate it to 9 7/8 of an inch. Our height, we're looking at 6 3/8 of an inch, and our depth is going to be about 1 1/4 of an inch deep. So make sure that that's gonna fit in your engine compartment and that you have a spot for that. You can see, we do have these 1/2-inch NPT by 3/8 inch inlets to get connected so that you can get your fluid to flow through there.
The distance between those inlets is going to be approximately 8 1/2 inches center to center, so you can see there. And so our mounting pattern on the back side, you can see we've got these points that we can mount this in place, our width center to center, those mounting points, it's going to be 6 3/4 of an inch, our height, center to center, it's gonna be 5 1/2 inches. So again, make sure that you have a place in your engine compartment where you can put this where it's gonna have plenty of air flowing across there to help cool that fluid. And this is gonna do a good job of making sure that transmission fluid is gonna be nice and cool by the time it returns. So that completes our look for today.
