The waterproof construction of this light makes it ideal for use on trailers that may be submerged, like a boat trailer. The housing and lens are sonically sealed together to create a single unit, which means that water will not get into the light and damage the diodes or circuit board.
Surface-mount lights install flat against the surface of the trailer, so a hole does not need to be cut into the trailer for the light. This type of light is installed using a flange or bracket that has mounting holes. And mounting hardware is used to secure the light to the trailer.
If a trailer is 80" or wider at its widest point, then it requires rear clearance lights in addition to basic trailer lights. These clearance lights indicate the width of the trailer when it is viewed from the back.
To meet these requirements on a flatbed utility trailer where the bed extends past the wheels, you can install combination trailer lights that include the rear clearance function. For proper mounting, the lights must be installed at the widest points on the rear of the trailer - one on each corner.

Speaker 1: Today we're taking a look at the Optronics Thinline LED trailer taillight. This low profile trailer taillight serves three functions on trailers over 80 inches wide. It provides your stop light, your taillight, and your turn signal light. Now this is the thinline series from Optronics so it has a low profile design so that way the light can easily fit into tighter spaces. It's completely sealed so it features a sonicly 00:00:28 sealed design which gives it a waterproof housing and lens unit that is submersible.We're looking at durable surface mount technology when it comes to the construction of the LEDs circuit board. It's designed to better withstand shock and vibration and allow for improved heat distribution.
This is a full LED system. LEDs make great replacements for incandescent lights. They last longer. They burn brighter. They're more efficient.
With LEDs, you don't have to worry about replacing bulbs and you don't have to worry about brittle filaments. It has a polycarbonate lens and housing. Mounts directly on the surface of your trailer so it has two predrilled mount holes, one on each end, mounting hardware not included.It's a three wire design. White wire's the ground wire, black wire is the main power wire for the taillights, and then red wire's the power wire the stop and turn signals. It's Department of Transportation compliant so it meets FMV 00:01:19 requirements for trailers over 80 inches wide.Few measurements to go over with you real quick.
Then we'll hook it up to power so you can see what it looks like with power running to it and with our overhead lights off. Overall length measurement, very edge to very edge, is 20 1/2 inches long. It measures one and one-sixteenth inches tall by three-quarters of an inch deep. Mount holes are separated on center by 19 and 5/8 inches.We're going to go ahead and hook it up to power that way we can see what it looks like. We'll also turn off our overhead lights, gives us a little bit better look at it.
So here you can see it sends out a really nice clear consistent signal. This one has the red LEDs with a clear lens. This is the taillight or running light function of the unit when we apply our brakes. You can see how that signal output increases for a brighter signal, does the exact same thing when we activate our turn signals. Now this unit has 15 diodes or LEDs so the multi-diode design really helps to optimize the overall light output. Power draw at 12.8 volts. For the stoplight, it's 0.2 amps and for the taillight is 0.01 amps. Optronics also puts a lifetime warranty on the LEDs.That's going to do it for today's look at the Optronics Thinline LED trailer taillight.

Surface mount - hardware not included. 3-Wire design.They work and look great on the back of my truck. DOT approved and work off my motorhome lights when flat towed behind it. I made the brackets for them and attached them recessed under each side bottom of the rear bumper.
I used these to make my bike rack more visible when the bikes are not being carried.
Brilliant stop/turn visibility and good taillight function for additional lighting on the back of our motorhome.
Product had a slight warp but the screws drew this down.

The light was easy to install and still works however it has turned yellow inside because water has leaked into it. Hate to leave a bad review. I havant tried to take it apart and clean it and possibly glue it back together yet but idk that’s my review.
Put four of these across the back of my trailer, and they look amazing! All four are wired for tail, brake, and turn. Two for right turn signal and two for the left turn signal. Very nice looking. No doubt when the brakes are applied now.
These bulbs work fine. They're a direct replacement for stock and are brighter than stock bulbs.
These were great as additional rear lights for our Momentum 399
It was a perfect match for the one that didn't work. Very easy to install.

As always great service from etrailer. The lights are bright and easy to install. Put them up high on the back of my trailer so when I’m transporting bikes my tail lights are readily visible.
The trailer mfg. no longer had these lights. Which were their factory installed. Can now replace without modification.
My enclosed trailer came with small oblong led lights, they were okay but I felt that I needed more visibility.
I installed these about one year ago. They more than doubled the visibility of my trailer during the day. I highly recommend these lights.

The lights were easy to install and they looked great
Great look and bright lights. I especially like that the design of the bar provided a great seal between the light bar and the trailer body when the screws were thightened.

Arrived in a timely manner , product is well made and works great ! Would recommend to anyone!
No instructions just parts tossed in a poorly packaged box with heavy items. These parts were bent on arrival and out of their plaswtic packaging.
Ordered two - Five stars even though one had a problem. Called customer service and explained the problem. A replacement is on the way. This is why I do business with etrailer.com. Great customer care, service and quality products. Out of the many orders I have placed this one was the only one with an issue. I'm going to order 4 more next week to install on my headache rack. Great purchase!
