Optronics MC38 Series Incandescent Amber Marker Clearance Light Dimensions

P2-Rated Lights

Diagram of light spread for P2 rated light

A P2-rated light produces a 45-degree angle of light to either side of its centerline for a total of 90 degrees of coverage. This beam pattern can be seen straight on, but it cannot be seen clearly from the side. So this type of light can be used as either a side marker light or a clearance light, but it cannot function as both. If you need both functions, then you must install 2 separate lights on your trailer - one as a front or rear clearance light and one as a side marker light.

It is the same clearance lights on camper. Perfect fit.

by:

As described, perfect!

by:

The light works as advertised. I added four more running lights to our fifth wheel for more safety as we drive down the road. After one year they are still working fine.

by:

The products I bought form etrailer are superior to what I replaced on my 1988 stock trailer. The clearance lights both red and amber have a good grounding and 12v supply lugs. Solid lugs for positive connections unlike the old two piece units where the ground and positive connection fails between two cheap movable parts.
I'm very happy with the quality and construction of these lights.
I also ordered the 3 diode ID light bar looks good and works good.
On line ordering is fast and easy and delivery was three days to the west coast which is greatly appreciated thank you everyone at etrailer you do a superb job!!

All lights still work as new, good product.

by:

Fast delivery, good service and price.

by:

Grat price, easy to install, and works as it should !!!!!!!!!!

by:

just as advertised, worked right out of the box, easy to connect, no issues.

by:

I just needed a lens but the price of the complete light assembly was just about what the replacement lens was, and not knowing if the lens would fit my base, I bought the whole assembly. Turns out the lens fit tightly on my existing base. The light is well made and I expect it to last as long , or longer, than the original.

by:

I appreciate the professionalism and integrity of the people at etrailer. In a recent order I placed I was delayed in thoroughly checking the contents of my order. I was still well within the 60 days. When I did look through the box I discovered I had not received an item. I'm thankful the company believed me and sent me the parts I had not received. I recommend etrailer and will shop with them again.

by:

I was hoping they would be identical to the ones currently on our trailer but they aren't quite the same (blockier). Also, the original TT clearance lights have 2 wires coming off of the bulb socket and these only have one. They are intended (I assume) to use the screw that holds the base on as a ground connection to the trailer. That wouldn't work on our TT so I added a ground wire myself. I guess I should have seen the single wire in the picture but I missed that...

by:

The clearance lights are a perfect matching replacement for the Bargman and Peterson brands that were used on the 80's RV's like my Allegro. The price was so good I decided to replace all 20 clearance lights

by:

This light fit perfectly "inside" the light I needed to replace.

Have not had any issues with the trailer lights.

by:

Very fast delivery, I didn't use the light only the reflector which came off easily. I used the reflectors which we're the exact same size to fit on the front of my 2011 Honda CRV-LX which did not come with the small parking lights but only had the cut outs for them, now the front looks real sharp after I glued the reflectors into the voids.

by:

Product was an exact replacement. I had difficulty locating this part locally but because of the great pictures and details on the etrailer.com site I was able to locate it. It was shipped promptly and would definitely recommend this company.

by:

Ordered missing/replacement Trailer Clearance side-light. Did not find it locally. Quickly found it on the etrailer web site for a good price. It was quickly delivered and "just what the doctor ordered".

I’m very happy with the clearance lights they work perfectly and they are bright and I am planning to replace all my clearance lights on the trailer and L I will continue To buy all my trailer needs with etrailer.com very happy with everything

by:

Lights were an exact replacement and matched the pictures perfectly. I had ordered some other lights (slightly cheaper) from another online retail giant (starts with A) but I was disappointed with quality and would need to be modified to fit my application. I should have just started here at etrailer.

by:

Purchased trailer lights to replace old ones. These arrived in a few days, even with economy shipping and were exactly what I wanted.

by:

Great replacement to match existing trailer clearance light configuration. Ordering was easy and shipping was quick.

by:

I needed a replacement lens for two of my clearance lights on an old RV. The lenses from this item fit the original mount and at the price I would expect to pay for just a lens.
It took a lot of searching and sleuthing to find these because there is no reference to the DOT number or the manufacturers number for the lens in the description.
Delivery was very prompt. Better than I expected.

by:

The product itself was great, i would have liked it better if mounting screws were included with the side markers. other then that i am very happy, and they work very well.

by:

Product worked great. I found out that my 82 Holiday Rambler used orange lights ahead of the axle and red behind the axle.

by:

These connectors are great trailer wiring connections.

by:

I ordered this light and also a set of taillights. I messed up and had to amend my order and they were very helpful. Items arrived in a short time and were very good quality. Highly recommend them!

by:

Perfect replacement for my Nitro boat trailer. Still going strong after 1 year.

Trailer side marker light have only that one function so this means that the two wires on your lights serve as ground and power. Some such trailer lights can have only 1 wire if they happen to use their mounting hardware to make the ground connection to the trailer. We do offer a whole range of replacement lenses for lights in all sports of shapes, colors and sizes. You can see all replacement lenses by clicking on the link provided. • Replacement LED Marker/Clearance Lamps for Peterson PM130 on 1998 4Star Horse Trailer
We offer a very similar LED clearance/marker lamp that has the same 4-13/16 inch bolt hole spread as the Peterson PM130 lamps you have. For the Red lens, use # MCL76RB or for an amber lens, use # MCL76AB. Both lamps will use the existing mounting holes, so you won't need to drill additional holes. Also recommended is the # A76GB foam gasket to prevent water from getting to the rear of the lamp.

  • Replacement Lens Covers for my Trailer Lens Shows SAE-AP2-79
SAE numbers aren't part numbers so it's hard to pick out replacement lights based on of them since that's not info that's stored as a cross reference. We've had customers with a similar number SAE-AP2-79 which turned out to be the # 423000 for red and then for amber part # MC38AB. For just the amber lens you'd need the part # A38AB. For just the red lens you'd want the part # A38RB.

  • Are 4" Oval Peterson and Optronics Clearance Lights the Same Dimensions
They are not the exact same shape but they basically have the same dimensions with the differences being within 1/16" of each other (which could be the difference between manufacturer's preference for measurements). For the amber version of the Peterson Light # 423000 you need part # 422800 and for the red version of the Optronics Light # MC38AB you need part # MC38RB. Either way thought these lights are interchangeable with each other.

  • Clearance Light Recommendation for Trailer # MC38AB or # MC31AB
Between the clearance lights # MC38AB and # MC31AB the difference is mainly aesthetic. I personally like the black base and rounder edges of the # MC31AB so that is what I would go with. You would need to use bolts or screws to secure the base of the light to the trailer and then pop the lens on top of it to install it.
