Excellent Corrosion Resistance

The simple truth is that salt can be highly corrosive to metal when exposure lasts for an extended period of time. So, the more you tow around it, the more you need to protect your trailer from it.

A rusted trailer jack welded to a trailer frame

The Z-Max zinc finish on this jack offers great corrosion protection, even with occasional use around saltwater, to help ensure that it doesn't end up looking like the one above. Rust-resistant coatings are graded according to a salt spray rating. Basically, this rating shows the amount of time it takes for a material to show signs of corrosion when exposed to pure, continuous salt spray. Traditional zinc plating typically begins to deteriorate after about 100 hours. Dacromet usually lasts for around 300 to 400 hours. Fulton's Z-Max finish lasts for 600 hours in the salt spray test - 30% longer than a standard powder coat finish.

The environment this test creates is much harsher than anything you'll ever experience in your journeys, but it provides a testament to how well this jack resists rust and corrosion.

How to Determine the Lift Capacity You Need in a Jack

A trailer jack lifts your trailer high enough at the tongue to allow you to couple it with your vehicle. Usually, your tongue weight is about 10-15% of your gross trailer weight (GTW). For example, a 10,000-lb trailer has a tongue weight of 1,000 lbs to 1,500 lbs. To raise the tongue of a trailer this size, you'd need a jack that can handle a static load of no less than 1,500 lbs. And, yes, it's okay to have a jack with a weight rating that is higher than your trailer's tongue weight. In fact, a jack with a higher capacity should operate more efficiently, allowing you to spend less time cranking and more time fishing.

  • Replacement Jack For A 2004 Ranger Reata VS180 Boat Trailer
Hey Jeff, Does your Fulton jack have a swivel mount like the # FXP15L does where you can pull a lever and turn the entire jack to get it up out of the way? I've attached a picture of the # FXP15L below as well showing it with a welded on mount instead of using the clamp mount. If this is the case you can swap out just the jack and keep using the same mount welded to the frame. You'll need to remove the snap ring with some pliers and can then pull the jack off of the mount and measure...

  • Mounting plate Dimensions for the Pro Series Jack # PSEJ10000101 to Mount on a LAK Sailplane Trailer
I went out to the warehouse and pulled one of the Pro Series Snap-Ring Swivel Jacks, # PSEJ10000101, to measure for you. I added dimensions to a photo I took of the mounting plate for you to use to see if the mounting pattern will match up to your mounting plate on your LAK sailplane trailer model T-5. The overall dimensions of the mounting plate are 6-3/8 inches by 5-1/2 inches, and the bolt hole pattern is 4-3/8 inches on center for the outer most holes, 3-3/8 inches on center for the...

  • Recommended Trailer Jack With 1,500 lb Capacity and Retracted Height of 12-3/4 Inches
The Fulton Snap-Ring Swivel Marine Jack with Fixed Length - 400 lbs # F1410050149 has a fixed height of 14-1/2 inches. We don't have a fixed height option for a 1,500 lb jack, so I recommend the Fulton Bolt-Thru Swivel Marine Jack - Bolt On # FXP15L which is shorter at the retracted height of 12-3/4 inches but also extends to 24-3/4 inches. I've attached a couple videos to assist.

  • How To Determine the Correct Boat Trailer Jack Weight Capacity
A trailer jack onlys needs to be rated for the tongue weight (TW) of a trailer, not the entire gross trailer weight (GTW). With that being said, the tongue weight of a trailer is typically 10-15% of the gross trailer weight. Therefore your boat trailer will have to weigh more than 12,000 lbs without the boat in order for the weight capacity of the Fulton Bolt-Thru Swivel Marine Jack part # FXP15L to be exceeded. As long as your boat trailer does not weigh more than 12,000 lbs and the...

  • Replacement for Shelby Jack on Boat Trailer
Hey Andrew! Since it is a bolt-thru you can use the Fulton Boat Trailer Jack w/ Wheel # F1411300301 as a replacement. This typically mounts on the # P9012-00 which is a 4-1/2" square bracket with pin holes 3" apart on center. If you don't want to worry about using the old bracket, or that doesn't match up with what you have, you could also grab a bolt-on option like the # FXP15L and put it next to the old mount so you don't have to cut and weld.

  • What is a Great Jack For My 22 SunTracker Tri-toon With 150 HP Mercury Motor?
Hello Michael, Happy to get the right jack for your SunTracker. I looked up the specs for the weights, the boat itself is about 3,000 pounds, the motor is around 500 pounds, then fuel, gear and batteries around 400 pounds, and the trailer itself is going to be around 1,000 pounds. So you are looking at around 4,900 pounds. To be on the safe side I recommend going with the Trailer Valet JXS # TV64FR. This trailer jack is rated for 5,000 pounds. It has the hand crank but can also be used...

If so, the only other 5,000 lb coupler for a 2" hitch ball that may work is one that has half of the height, the Titan Coupler - Painted - Multi-Fit Ball - 3" Channel - Bolt On - 5,000 lbs # T2343400. • Replacement Trailer Jack for Weld On Mount Shelby Jack Model Number 5874A8
Shelby jacks are no longer in production. If the welded mount had a bolt-thru design, then I recommend checking the pin hole dimensions for compatibility. The bolt hole centers are 3 inches apart on the Jack Mounting Bracket for Fulton Marine Jack # P9012-00 for example. This is compatible with jacks like # FXP10W0301. The Fulton Bolt-Thru Swivel Marine Jack, Weld-On # FXP15W is designed to mount to its mounting bracket with a single center bolt. The mounting bracket designed to work with this jack is part # P9012-00. In order to replace the weld-on jack on your boat trailer, you will want to cut off the existing mounting plate. Thank you for that info, and while we have some options for you to replace your Shelby 5764A trailer jack, there isn't one that is going to fit that bolt pattern. So you have a couple of things you can do, which is either have a new plate welded on, or use a bolt-on jack but in a different location on the frame that won't interfere with where the current weld-on plate is now, if possible. If it is not, then you'd have to have the current weld-on plate removed. So long as your trailer...

Based on the pictures you provided it looks like the mount on your 1999R71 Range trailer uses a jack very similar to the Fulton Bolt-Thru Swivel Marine Jack # FXP10W0301. You will need to confirm that this jack will be compatible by measuring the mount on your trailer. • Caster on Fulton Jack Doesn't Swivel Easily When Weight Is Applied
Boat jacks, including the Fulton jack you have, are typically constructed so that the inner tube of the jack and the yoke and caster are all one piece. Because of the way its constructed, the caster won't easily turn until the boat is rolling. Having corrosion or debris on the main screw of the jack can make this worse. You can try lubricating the jack, and see if this improves its operation. Fulton offers a jack with a 'live' caster, the XLT Swivel Jack, part # F141133 with a 1500 lb...

  • Do Trailer Jacks with Two Wheels Make it Easier to Maneuver a Jack on Concrete
Having 2 wheels will provide more surface area/contact with the ground. This could actually make it more difficult to maneuver compared to a single wheel. But two wheels are better than one when not on pavement. A single wheel tends to dig into dirt or gravel easier. A Fulton jack such as # FXPD15L is going to be the better jack compared to the MaxxTow line of jacks. I do recommend going with a Fulton. For a single wheel version use # FXP15L.
