Question:
I have a Fulton Magnum series leg trailer jack. It came with my 2006 skeeter. Problem: When there is no weight on the jack the wheel swivels freely in all directions, but when you put weight on the jack, it will hardly move at all. Do you have any solutions for making it move with ease? It is really difficult to move around in the garage and to line up with the hitch. Thanks

Helpful Expert Reply:
Boat jacks, including the Fulton jack you have, are typically constructed so that the inner tube of the jack and the yoke and caster are all one piece. Because of the way its constructed, the caster won't easily turn until the boat is rolling. Having corrosion or debris on the main screw of the jack can make this worse. You can try lubricating the jack, and see if this improves its operation.
Fulton offers a jack with a 'live' caster, the XLT Swivel Jack, part # F141133 with a 1500 lb capacity. The caster will rotated independently of the jack's inner tube, which would make it easier to maneuver the trailer around in your garage or to get the trailer aligned with the hitch. You can see a product demonstration video of this jack by clicking the provided link.
