Video Transcript for Dutton-Lainson Pull Pin Easy Swivel Trailer Jack Review

Today we're going to be taking a look at the Dutton Lainson pull pin easy swivel trailer jack with 6" dual wheels. This is in a side wind configuration, and it's going to offer a 1500lb lift capacity. Part number is DL22580. As you can see, this jack offers dual 6" wheels. These are made to rotate independently of one another, making turning and maneuvering very easy. Rotates without issue, so you can get whatever direction that you'll need to do. The wheels themselves are nice and wide, so they're going to dissipate the energy, and that wider wheel base really makes it easy when we're maneuvering.

As you can see, our casters are offset slightly from the main tube of the shank. This is also going to ease maneuverability. The jack itself is made out of a heavy duty steel, it's a nice thick gauge steel, and it's completely coated with the tough plate zinc. That's going to give us very good corrosion resistance, and give us years of good looks and also good use. With its heavy duty design, it's going to make it very maneuverable so we can move our trailer where we'd like to.

We've got kind of an elongated handle. Really fits into your palm well, and it'll allow you to torque easily when you're trying to hitch the vehicle to your trailer or unhitch it. You'll have the torque you'll need to make that happen. The pull pin design right here allows us to easily swivel our jack. As you can see, our jack's going to tuck up nicely here against our trailer when we have it in the swiveled up position. That's going to reduce the amount of overhang that we have below the bottom of the trailer.

With it in the stored position, from our mounting plate or from the top frame of our trailer down, we've got about 7.5" we'll want to make sure that we've got room for. In its fully retracted position we're going to have about 17" from the very top of our frame rail to the bottom of our wheels. From the top of our frame rail to the top of the jack we're going to have about 10", and with our handle in its full up position we're going to have about 15.25". Just keep those measurements in mind, to make sure this is going to be a good fit for you. Now, with 12" of travel in the fully extended position, from the top of our bracket to the ground, or to the bottom of our wheel, it's going to be about 29".

If that's the kind of lift you need, somewhere between 17" and 29", this would be a really good fit for you. The jack's going to offer a fully enclosed outer tube. That's going to protect from any dirt, sand, or debris getting into our tube, and coming in contact with our miter gears or full length acme screw. Now they make these right here in the United States, and they stand behind it with a 3 year limited warranty. Now that we've gone over the features, let me show you how to get this installed on your trailer. We're going to have all the hardware that we need included to mount this on any trailer, up to a 3"x5" frame. We'll have the four bolts, four nuts, four locking washers, and our two backing plates. Now these plates should be installed with the flush side facing our trailer, to give us a nice, firm connection. A couple of the tools that we're going to need, 14mm socket, a wrench, and we also have a torque wrench to ensure we get the proper torque. We want to pick our mounting location, and we'll place our jack squarely and flushly up against the side frame of the trailer. We now bring in our mounting bracket, place one of our bolts through, and slide that right through the front part of our jack. Then we're going to put on one of our lock washers and then we can thread one of our nuts on. Now that's just going to help us hold it a little bit; you still want to support it with your other hand. We'll do the same thing with our second bracket, then repeat the same process down here at the bottom. We've got three holes to choose from, just going to depend on what size trailer frame that we're using, so we'll of course pick the one that's going to be as close as possible to the bottom of our frame rail. Then once we have one on the top and one on the bottom on one side, that will kind of free us up a little bit and we won't have to hold it quite as much there, and we'll finish getting our final bolts and nuts started. Now it's just going to be a matter of cinching them on down. Now that we've got those cinched down, let's use our torque wrench. Refer to your instruction manual, that'll give you the exact torque specification that you'll want to use, then we'll torque all four of our bolts down to the manufacturer's specifications. With our jack torqued down, it's ready for use. That will complete today's look at the Dutton Lainson pull pin easy swivel trailer jack with the 6" dual wheels, part number DL22580. .

This product suddenly showed up on the front porch before noon and I thought it was a good fast delivery, coming much sooner than expected. Kudos! Won't have time to open it up and look at it for a few days, just hoping it's as good as one I bought ten years ago that has been hanging out on two boat trailers. This new one is sort of overkill but I hope but will be a nice upgrade to the single wheel one on the utility trailer and stay on that trailer, not migrate to the latest boat. Looking forward to installing it soon. Thanks for good service. 619892

Well made jack & easy to install. However most manufacturers including this jack use 100% HD plastic/polymer wheels which are simply terrible. Gravel or rough asphalt (chip seal) just tears up the wheels. They need rubber tread over plastic or aluminum wheels. I have already had to replace the wheels that came on this jack after just one year. 476011

I purchased this item to replace an original trailer jack that was a little too "lightweight" for the trailer/boat. Based on the hardware included with this jack, I was pleased to learn this jack can be installed on virtually any trailer. I was not able to use the original trailer mount from the original jack, but WAS able to mount this one directly behind the original welded mount. This jack makes any raising/lowering and moving the boat/trailer much easier than the original AND much safer. 143463

GREAT! I did have to trim the bolts that came with mounting this jack, so it could be rotated to the stored positioned when trailering. This was nothing more than a few minutes with a hack saw. Despite having two wheels, this jack is STILL very easy to rotate when trying to move the boat a short distance by hand. Still a STRONG 5-Star product.

etrailer is an excellent source for trailer parts. Great selection, easy straight forward ordering and fantastic delivery. The jack was an easy 5-minute installation and appears to be more robust than the factory installed jack. Operation is smooth and sturdy. The double wheel configuration makes moving the trailer easier and more stable than the single wheel configuration that came on the trailer originally. 108015

The trailer jack has worked perfectly for me and appears to be holding up well to the elements, particularly the hot Texas sun.
