Installed on a 2008 Scion XB. Great installation documentation and videos. You can hardly tell there is a hitch installed. Perfect fit.

by:

Very nice unit. The install video here was very helpful. Instructions put install time for inexperienced installer at 45 mins. and pro installer at 20 mins. My install time (with 8 year old helper) was 18 minutes. Never even looked under my car before this.

by:

Product was just as described and shipped very fast. Install was a piece of cake took only 20 minutes. Now I have a way to carry my mountain bike. Thanks etrailer.

by:
2009 ScionxB

Excellent ChoiceGreat price, speedy shipping, exactly as described. Installation took all of 5 minutes. Perfect fit on my 2009 Scion xB.

by:

Nice heavy duty sturdy hitch. Easy to install. Going to use this for a hitch type bicycle carrier. Bought this one over another brand that had a 200 lb. tongue capacity compared to 300 lb. for this one as I figured more is better.

by:
2008 ScionxB

Hitch was received on time and in good condition. Installation was as easy as the video suggested.

by:
ScionxB

Easy installation (20 minutes or so if you've never done it before). Simply line up the holes and screw in the supplied screws. Very well made class II hitch. Highly recommend it for later model Scion XBs

by:

This is the second or third hitch I have purchased from etrailer. Always fast shipping and very easy to install. Got the hitch yesterday, all installed including wiring, Excellent customer service. I just wished you guys sold other items for my car.

WHILE MOST MIGHT RAVE ABOUT THE QUALITY, FIT AND FINISH
OF THE CURT HITCH FOR MY 2012 SCION XB AND I CERTAINLY
AM ONE I MUST SAY THAT MY EXPERIENCE WITH THIS COMPANY
(E-TRAILER) HAS RENEWED MY FAITH IN HONEST HARD WORKING COMPANIES AND THEIR EMPLOYEES. EVERYONE FROM ORDER PROCESSING TO SHIPPING TO CUSTOMER
SERVICE HAS BEEN GREAT. MY HITCH WAS UPGRADED TO 3
DAY DELIVERY, IT WAS PACKED IN A SUPER STRONG BOX
AND EVERYTHING WAS AS REPRESENTED. THE FOLLOW UP
E-MAILS AND COMMUNICATION SEEMED HEARTFELT AND
GENUINE. I WOULD STRONGLY RECOMMEND THIS PRODUCT
AND ESPECIALLY THIS COMPANY TO ANYONE. THANK-YOU

I bought a Curt trailer hitch from etrailer about 7 years ago. I just bought another one from them. When I need a new one, I'll order it from etrailer also. Excellent packaging BTW. No plastic or foam.

I frequently tow a utility trailer. The hitch is rock solid.

by:
2009 ScionxB

I have a 2009 Scion XB with TRD exhaust. I didn't have any clearance issues around the muffler. The hitch is a high quality part. Without the bike rack in the receiver the hitch is almost invisible.
I'm very happy with this Curt hitch as well as the service from the guys at etrailer. Next project will be to install the lighting/wiring kit also sold by etrailer.

by:
2011 ScionxB

I installed this a year ago. I use it for my boat and bike rack. Works perfect, never any issues. Super easy install. If you can fit under your car and know how to screw in a light bulb, you can attached this with ease.

by:
2012 ScionxB

It fit like a glove! Lined right up and came with the hardware need to install it. Fit and finish was great as well. I've had good luck with Curt products in the past and they didn't disappoint this time either and etrailer had a good price on it and good information about installation which is why I keep coming back.

by:
2012 ScionxB

Awesome trailer hitch, installed in minutes. Hides very nicely under bumper! Etrailer.com was great!!!

by:
2013 ScionxB

Ordering from website was easy. Delivery was quick. Hardest part was finding a good installer. Next purchase will be a bike rack.

by:

Perfect fit, super easy bolt on application. This is exactly as advertised and will reccomend etrailer.com in the future

  • Recommendation For Carrying a Aventon Level 2 E-Bike Behind a 2013 Scion xB
I do see your Aventon Level 2 bike has a weight of 54lbs. Since you are using the Curt Receiver # C12490 on your 2013 Scion xB and being a 1-1/4" receiver I recommend the Yakima OnRamp # Y28DJ as it can support bikes up to 66lbs each and has a ramp for ease loading. Using an Adapter # e43YR with the Rack # HLY66ZR not only moves it further back causing more of a lever effect on the weight but do remember the extra length is also going to have an effect on the departure angle which means...

  • Will a 2012 Scion Curt Trailer Hitch Fit a 2008 Toyota Prius
Hey Vince! I have an '09 Prius so I get the appeal of the ground clearance and cost savings of the Curt # C12490 from your previous vehicle, but this hitch has a different profile and different bolt hole pattern to the Curt # C11468 that fits your '08 Prius so they aren't interchangeable. You can try to modify the bolt holes from your old hitch to fit your Prius, but one of the key parts of the Prius specific hitch is the raised part of the crossbeam that keeps the exhaust from constantly...

Hey Peter, yes we sell replacement hardware for all of the hitches we carry including the Curt that fits your 2010 Scion xB with the part # RHK. On the product page you would enter the part number of the hitch and we will ship you the correct hardware that came with the hitch.

  • How Do Curt Stabilizer Straps Work for Supporting Hitch Accessories
The stabilizer strap part # 18050 that Curt recommends you use when you are carrying a non-supported hitch accessory like a bike rack will get attached to the rack and then the other end of the strap will clip to the top of the hatch or trunk of the vehicle it gets used on. Check out the review video I attached for the strap. The Curt Hitch part # C12490 that you referenced is for a Scion xB, for a vehicle like this the strap would get attached to the top of the rear cargo door. I attached...

  • What is the Difference Between Class 1 and Class 2 Hitches for the Scion XB
Class I and Class II hitches both have a 1-1/4 inch receiver opening. The difference is that a Class I hitch has a lower tongue weight rating, usually 200 pounds and a lower towing rating, usually 2,000 pounds. A Class II hitch usually has a tongue weight rating of 350 pounds and a towing rating of 3,500 pounds. The only other difference is that accessories designed for Class II only hitches will not fit in a Class I Hitch. Class I accessories will work in the Class II hitch. I would recommend...

  • Trailer Hitch, Hitch Ball, and Wiring Recommendations for a 2010 Scion xB
Yes. The Curt Class II Trailer Hitch Receiver with Drawbar, # 12490, will fit your 2010 Scion xB. This hitch comes with a drawbar, hitch pin and clip. There is no drilling required with this simple bolt on installation. I have included links to the instructions and an installation video below. This Class II hitch has a gross trailer weight of 3,500 pounds and a tongue weight capacity of 350 pounds. You will need to consult your vehicles owners manual for the xBs specific towing ratings....

  • Trailer Hitch For 2011 Scion xB Release
The Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C12490 is a custom fit for the 2011 Scion xB base model. The hitch fits this generation of the xB. The Release series center exhaust is on the 2010 model but we still don't list this as a confirmed fit because of the body kit on the 2011 Release. Your 2011 will mount the same way but you would need to modify your body kit by trimming to accommodate the receiver tube. If you're looking to carry a bike rack or cargo I would get a roof rack. This will be...

  • How Much Can Be Carried On a Cargo Carrier With a 2012 Scion xB
The Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver part # C12490 which is a fit for a 2012 Scion xB does indeed have a 350 lb weight capacity. However, when you use any sort of 1-1/4" to 2" hitch adapter like the Hitch Adapter 1-1/4" to 2" Trailer Hitch Receiver part # HTAD this reduces the hitch capacity by 1/2, so 175 lbs which then puts you over the limit with your hot dog cart. • Hitch Cargo Carrier Recommendation for 2009 Scion xB
While we do have a great choice for a cargo carrier that will fit and work with your 2009 Scion xB, the one you mentioned won't work because it is a fit for 2 inch hitches only. The problem with that is your '09 xB only has 1-1/4 inch trailer hitch receivers available, with the best being the Class II Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C12490. For a cargo carrier that will work with a 1-1/4 inch hitch and your Scion, I recommend the Curt Cargo Carrier # C18145. This carrier - which you can...

  • Hitch Receiver and Bike Rack Options to Carry a Pedego Interceptor E-Bike on a 2008 Scion xB
I do have a few different bike rack options for you, but since you are wanting to carry a pretty hefty E-Bike and the highest rated trailer hitch receiver (the Curt # C12490) is only a 1-1/4 inch receiver you do have a very limited range of choices. Even though the Curt receiver that I recommend, part # C12490, has a max Tongue Weight (TW) of 350 lbs you will want to check that against what the owner's manual says for your 2008 Scion xB and go with whichever weight capacity is lower. • What is the Difference Between a Class I and Class II Hitch?
Structurally, a class II trailer hitch is designed to hold a bit more weight than a class I. This is because the materials that compose a class II hitch are stronger. All class I and class II hitches have the same 1-1/4 inch receiver opening which are compatible with 1-1/4 inch accessories. I went ahead and attached a diagram that shows the typical weight capacity differences between class I and class II hitches. For your 2018 Ford Focus Sedan, we only carry class I hitches. Curt requires the use of their stabilizer strap part # 18050 when using their hitch to carry a non-supported load like a bike rack. I attached a review video for you to check for the strap as well. • Can A Trailer Hitch Be Used On A 2014 Scion xB If There's No Tongue Weight Or Towing Capacity Listed
I checked the online version of the manual as well and it definitely does state that the vehicle is not rated for towing a trailer or cargo mounted hitch accessories so all of the people doing this are essentially taking on any liability in the event that the hitch failed or damaged the vehicle. There's also no listed capacity so it's a gamble on how much weight would cause a failure. If you're willing to take on this liability then you could install the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver #...

The tail light circuits on that vehicle are not rated to handle the additional load of the trailer lights. The T-1 connector part # 56062 is your most economical option.
