Question:
I have a 2008 Prius. I previously had a 2012 Scion with a Curt 12490 hitch purchased from etrailer. That hitch isnt listed as an alternative for the Prius, but Im wondering if it can be adapted to the Prius, possibly by cutting off the ends of the 12490 with a cut-off wheel?

Hey Vince!
I have an '09 Prius so I get the appeal of the ground clearance and cost savings of the Curt # C12490 from your previous vehicle, but this hitch has a different profile and different bolt hole pattern to the Curt # C11468 that fits your '08 Prius so they aren't interchangeable.
You can try to modify the bolt holes from your old hitch to fit your Prius, but one of the key parts of the Prius specific hitch is the raised part of the crossbeam that keeps the exhaust from constantly blowing directly on the metal (see attached photo).
I'll be linking an installation video of this hitch on a 2008 Prius so you know what to expect for the install.
Do you need any help picking out some accessories, or are you all set on that end of things?

Thank you Jon, I guess I'll be buying a new hitch sooner or later. I wish there were a good marketplace for my old hitch, which remains in good condition (a testament to the good welding and finish on these hitches).
