I finally got around to installing this on our 2023 Corolla Cross Hybrid SE, to use with a Kuat 2 bike rack.
You do not need to remove the taillights, in fact I suggest that you avoid trying to snap them out; it might turn out to be permanent!
It is a little disconcerting that you have to peel away the entire rear fascia and bumper cover, but if you proceed carefully it's not too hard.
When removing the plastic rivets you can gently pry up the center screw and they come right out without much prying. Prying them out from the base is much more difficult and damages the rivet. I suggest that you buy a few extra push-pin type rivets from your local NAPA or other auto parts store. These are along the bottom of the bumper cover (4), and are a fairly unique shape. Bring one to the shop to match.
The cutout was very easy to do; I suggest resting the bumper cover on a box right up against the installed hitch and marking the approximately 3' x 3 1/2" square with tape, then cut it out. It needs to be large enough but not perfect; you won't see it.
Once installed, with everything assembled, the hitch is almost invisible.
Overall, a quality product but a somewhat daunting installation for the uninitiated.
I found installation a little unnerving in that it required the removal and reinstallation of multiple exterior body panels in the back of the vehicle. But instructions were pretty good and the final result appears great. There are apparently special tools for removing the plastic rivets that attach exterior panels to the car. Get them. I did okay just prying them out, but I think you risk damaging them.

Took an hour to install and everything went great! Can’t comment on towing, and I didn’t install wiring for trailer. I got it for my mom’s car to put a bike rack on for my son’s bike so that she doesn’t have to lift his bike in and out of her car. It works great for that!
Great product and easy install. It is a solid and well constructed piece. It's also nice that the only thing visible is the receiver square and nothing else. I'm using this mainly for my Kuat 4 bike rack. It works well for this.

Great quality product! Haven’t tested it yet, but will be using it for a bike rack. Picked this for my Corolla Cross, as it is rated 300lbs TW. I’ve attached pictures, but when you get to the part of removing the side piece/splash guard, please be careful, as I accidentally broke like two of the clip things lol. Luckily it still went back on fine. Took me and my brother about 1.5 hrs, used the manual that is on the listing for this product for etrailer, which I found very helpful! Also, found one youtube video on how to remove the rear bumper for the corolla cross, which was really helpful. Highly recommend this tow hitch receiver! Thanks etrailer! Also when you cut out the little square on the bumper, I had to make it a little wider than what was shown on the measurements in the manual, and I used a highlighter to draw, which helped to see it better. If you have some strong scissors, you could use that instead of a box cutter.

Perfect fit for 2023 Corolla Cross Hybrid. Took a couple hours to install. High stress ripping bumper covers off a new car but goes well if you have the right tools (plastic trim kit highly recommended) and follow directions.
Paint damage due to inadequate boxing - product shifted and broke through the box. Have not installed yet so I can't comment on fit.

Great quality fairly easy install with the correct tools.
Everything was as described and wrapped with care and delivered in a timely fashion. Prices were good and i did shop prices at several locations including (online store) and other places. Straight forward installation. Took about 1hr and 20 minutes with help from my brother. Much better construction then OEM piece. Final installation looks great.
