Recommended Class III Trailer Hitch For A 2024 Toyota Corolla Cross Hybrid

Updated 08/26/2024 | Published 08/20/2024

Question:

Hi, I own a 2024 Toyota corolla Cross hybrid. Im trying to find a class 3 hitch that would work with it. I know there are class 2s that work with it. If I were to install a class 3 and stay within the load capacities for my vehicle, would it cause problems? The only reason Im looking for a class 3 is because Im interested in a Yakami Exo- swing rack that says its compatible with class 3 and 4.

Hi Mary,

The Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver # DT28GR has a class III rating and is confirmed to fit your 2024 Toyota Corolla Cross Hybrid. It has a 300lb tongue weight capacity so you'd have to stay under that with anything you'd load into the EXO system.

If you plan on connecting the light kit to the EXO system then you'll also need to pick up a trailer wire harness. If you have LED lights you'll need part # TK24CR and for incandescent # TK25VR.

Thank You. What I didn't mention is that Toyota tells me my hitch weight is 150 lbs. which is pretty small. I think your answer is still correct as long as the total weight respects the 150 lbs. whether it's class 2 or 3.

@Mary Yes, both the hitch and the vehicle will have their own limitations and you'll always want to follow whichever is lower to avoid damaging anything.
