Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite's Tested Tough program provides testing standards far superior to those outlined by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the go-to source for engineering professionals.

Each Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver undergoes extensive fatigue testing and static testing with the ball mount that is either supplied or recommended for use with that particular hitch, thus ensuring results that are applicable to real life use. Fatigue testing is also conducted on hitches rated for use with weight-distribution systems.

In addition, Draw-Tite performs static testing on a simulated automobile, as opposed to the rigid fixture used for SAE testing, resulting in a more true-to-life scenario.

Great Product--Easy to install

by:
2004 Toyota Prius

Very fast delivery, and product was as advertised.

by:

delivered early, product in good shape (one minor scratch), fit like a glove.

by:

I ordered the product during my night shift Monday night-Tuesday morning, and it arrived Thursday morning early. Wow!

by:

the etrailer was relatively easy to install.. good design and took about 1 1/2 hours to install

Toyota Prius

the sportframe drawtite hitch assembly arrived in 2 days from ordering, is now installed, and the bikes are on! great service. The selection was perfect for my prius--the toyota dealer didn't have anything close. thanks

by:

Product was perfectly formed, very well finished, and installed easily. Shipped promptly and was reasonably priced. Would recommend without qualification.

Toyota Prius

Installed and working! The installation video on YouTube was a big help. Be sure to have the proper tools and correct size sockets. I didn't have to jack up my Prius but that might have made it a bit easier to maneuver under the car.

by:

very easy installationthe hitch was very easy to install, and has a solid feel.

by:

Easy to install -- solid Great Just what I wanted Shipping was fast!!!

by:

Fit perfectly, bolts right on. Didn't even jack up car to install. Biggest time consumption was cutting window in plastic under-pan. Doesn't receive the draw bar I have though. Cutting (shortening) the 1 1/4 solid steel bar is going to be a pain.

by:
2007 Toyota Prius

Wow, yes I read the reviews before I ordered and I can only confirm all positive feedback. Quick delivery and easy to install. If u can change a tire, u can install this hitch. Good luck prius owners!

by:
Toyota Prius

Installation on the Prius was really easy, and this hitch is well built, and includes everything needed for the installation.

by:
2009 Toyota Prius

Simple to install and only needed a little tweeking to get it to fit. It "flexed" during shipping, and needed to be reflexed to its proper position. Nice and easy.

by:
2007 Toyota Prius

Bike rack on the hitch.

by:

Installation could not have been easier--bolted right on in place of the tow hooks. One bit of advice would be to lay the plastic shield out in the sun before cutting. The warm plastic is easy to trim, as I discovered purely by accident.

by:

Excellent hitch! Very well made and easy to install. Don't get lazy and not reinstall the plastic cover panel on the driver's side of your Prius! It is there for a good reason! If you pay close attention when you remove the panel it will make it much easier to reinstall.

A couple of hints:
1. Be careful when removing the two plastic rivets that attach to the bumper cover so that they can be reused.
2. Trim the tow hook slot about 1" to 1.5" forward of the hook in addition to the area indicated in the instructions.

It took me about an hour and a half total on the installation most of which was spent on the cover panel. Follow my suggestions above and you can do it in half that time

After ordering this trailer hitch for my Prius, eTrailer upgraded the delivery at no extra charge. After watching the installation video, it took less than ten minutes to remove the necessary parts from the Prius and another five minutes to install the trailer hitch. Perfect fit!

Assembling the bike rack was just as easy and in less than 45 minutes my wife and I were on the road with our bicycles. I would recommend both of these items to anyone.

2007 Toyota Prius

Installed in about a half hour on my 2007 Prius. Remember to pop the center tab out on the 2 round plastic pins holding the plastic liner on before pulling them out. Also had to trim the front side of the slot in the liner an additional two inches to make things fit. Pulls my 4 x 8 utility trailer perfectly. I'm glad I got the one with the drawbar and pin. Very clean install.

Prius Class 1The Class 1 hitch (also known as a bike carrier attachment point) I installed on my Prius is a good example of craftsmanship. In a former life I inspected aircraft for a living. The welds were perfect - as they should be - the powder coat was uniform and baked to perfection, indicating that the hitch was cleaned properly before the paint medium was applied . The attachment points lined up perfectly and the included hardware was suited to the job. The hitch is appropriately designed for strength and to avoid other system conflicts. There was a ding in the paint caused by shipping, so to insure against premature rust I just hit it with a little Zinc chromate before installing.

I made the appropriate vehicle log entry and returned it to service.

I wish every purchase I made online was this easy and smooth. I purchased this hitch on Wed and it was sitting at my garage door on Fri afternoon. I watched the installation video on etrailer.com and was very impressed with how clear and easy to understand it was. I installed this hitch in about 45 minuets with no difficulty at all. I am very impressed and happy with the whole purchase and installation of this hitch. I have already started recommending etrailer.com to anybody that asks about it.

2008 Toyota Prius

Unbelievable response time. I ordered this hitch receiver and a wiring harness for plugging into any trailer I would haul. I ordered late one evening. Next morning, I had an email stating they were in stock, packed, and ready to ship that morning. I received them in two days! WOW!! How unbelievable is that! Very responsive! After they were delivered, I received another email saying they seen they package had been dropped off, and don't hesitate to ask if I had questions.

I installed both on a 2008 Prius. Main purpose is bike hauler. Very easy to install after watching the online videos. Piece of cake!

I would not hesitate to buy from these folks again.....oh wait!....I already did....the bike hauler!

Keep up the good work etrailer. YOU'RE DOING IT RIGHT!!!

2005 Toyota Prius

This thing is awesome on my 05 Prius. Bought it, in combination with the Drawtight cargo carrier and Rola bag, and I've effectively tripled my baggage space for road trips.

Installation was not difficult at all and pretty hard to mess up, this coming from someone who's not all that handy. Just have to be prepared to spend a bit of time under the car. Didn't have any of the hole allignment issues reported with some other brands.

by:
2007 Toyota Prius

Just what I was looking for to carry my bicycles on the Prius. Easy to install at home with a metric socket set and my car ramps I use to change my oil. The rack I bought also came with a hitch connection for my F150 pickup truck hitch. Hopfully the vechicles will last as long as these two products will.

We have a Prius and hauling my heavy ebike around, it always felt secure, if wobbly, which I guess is by design. The problem is actually getting it onto the hitch. It's heavy and awkward to manipulate. Once attached, everything is a smooth sail.

  • Comparing Trailer Hitch Options for Carrying 2 Bike Rack on a 2006 Toyota Prius
Betweeen the Curt # C11468 and Draw-Tite # 24808 for your 2006 Toyota Prius, I recommend the Curt simply because we have found that they tend to have better welds and a thicker powder coat than other options on the market. All of this translates into a more durable hitch that you can rely on. While you can use an adapter like the Brophy # HTAD to carry a bike rack with a 2" shank, we typically advise against this for a few reasons. First of all it's more connection points so there are...

  • Can Lubricant be Used to Help With Installing Bike Rack Into Hitch Receiver
If you are having trouble installing your hitch mounted bike rack into a trailer hitch receiver, like the Draw-Tite # 24808 for your 2009 Toyota Prius, then I'd first recommend making sure that the receiver is cleaned out and free of debris. If it is clean then there may just be some extra powder coating on the inside. We have had customers who tried filing it out but you can definitely try some WD40 first if you have some handy.

  • Lightweight Trailer Hitch Recommendation for 2005 Toyota Prius
The best hitch for your 2005 Toyota Prius that would work well for your situation is the Draw Tite part # 24808 that you referenced. It is a confirmed fit and would have the capacity needed for a 75 lb chair. The hitch weighs 28 lbs. Then for a carrier we have the Curt part # C18110 which would fit the hitch and have capacity needed for the chair.

  • Carrying an Electric Bike and an Electric Trike with a 2005 Toyota Prius
I may have a solution for you, but the 2005 Toyota Prius will not be able to carry these bikes on a traditional bike rack. Instead, you'll need to use a hitch-mounted cargo carrier and tie downs in order to carry these bikes. For a hitch, I recommend the Draw-Tite Class I Sport Frame Hitch, part # 24808. This Class I hitch will provide a mounting point for your bikes. I've included a video of this being installed on a 2005 Toyota Prius. This doesn't involve drilling, though you may...

  • Curt 18110 compared to 18140
First lets talk about a hitch for your 2007 Toyota Prius, I would recommend the Draw Tite hitch part # 24808. The reason for this is that Curt recommends you use a stabilizer strap like part # 18050 when you use a non-supported load on the hitch like a cargo carrier. Draw Tite doesn't have that requirement so I think you would be happier with the # 24808. Now the differences between the Curt Cargo Carriers part # C18110 and the # C18145 are pretty substantial. I personally like the # C18110...

  • Why Isn't There a Cutout In the EcoHitch for a 2005 Toyota Prius for Exhaust
The EcoHitch Hidden Trailer Hitch Receiver part # 306-X7196 is a great option for a 2005 Toyota Prius. It will sit up above the exhaust so there isn't a need for a cutout in the cross tube like the Draw-Tite Sportframe Trailer Hitch Receiver part # 24808. If you look closely, the brackets are much shorter on the EcoHitch as well as the receiver tube being under the crosstube as opposed to the Draw-Tit which has much longer brackets and the receiver tube is attached to the crosstube.

  • Which Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch Receiver Fits a 2015 Toyota Prius
The Draw-Tite # 24847 is a fit for your 2015 Toyota Prius. The # 24808 is actually for older models of the Prius from 2004 to 2009. Another hitch that fits is part # 24967. The insallation is more detailed and time consuming but in the end I prefer this style. It's a much cleaner look because the cross tube is hidden behind the Toyota's bumper and all you see is the receiver tube underneath. Look at the darker colored Prius in the pictures, as opposed to the blue Prius where you can...

All of the trailer hitches for the 2008 Toyota Prius are going to basically install the same and appear the same once installed. I apologize for any confusion on whether or not the crosstube will be visible. For carrying a cargo carrier the best hitch available will be the Draw Tite part # 24808. • Is there a 2" Hitch for a 2008 Toyota Prius?
Yes, there is! To add a 2" hitch to your 2008 Toyota Prius, I recommend the EcoHitch item # 306-X7196. This hitch is custom fit and bolts to your Prius with included hardware. This is the only 2" available for your vehicle. It has a 300 lbs maximum tongue weight so plenty of capacity for your bike rack. If you ever plan on towing you will also need a wiring harness item # C56147 and a ball mount kit item # C45534.

  • Carrying Bikes on a 2009 Toyota Prius
You're correct that using a hitch adapter does lose some of the stability. However, there are only 2 hitch receivers available or your 2009 Toyota Prius, parts # 24808 and # C11468, and they're both Class I, 1-1/4 inch hitches. This is to prevent the overloading of the vehicle since its weight capacity is extremely low. Instead I recommend using a trunk mount bike rack.
