Video Transcript for Detailed Breakdown of the Flint Hill Goods Tow Strap Loop for 2" Hitch

Hello everybody, this is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today we take a look at this Flint Hill Goods tow strap loop for a 2-inch hitch receiver. It has a 10,000 pound weight capacity. Now this tow ring right here will let you attach a recovery strap, a cable, or a rope to be used in agricultural, industrial, or recreational applications. This is a hitch-mounted design. It ensures a nice, quick, simple installation and removal to your 2-inch hitch receiver opening.

And just to show you that, I'm gonna pull up, give you an idea. There's a 2-inch hitch receiver opening just like that for demonstrations. I'm gonna go ahead and take out the pin and clip and then what you'll do is take your tow strap loop and the shank, slide the shank all the way in there until the hole lines up. Once the hole lines up, go ahead and put your pin and then clip it into place. Now the pin and clip is not included.

You would have to purchase that separately or use one you already have. We do sell them separately on our website. So once it's sold, now you can see you're all ready to go. And indeed, attach to the tow loop right here. You can insert it right through there.

Or if you need to take the loop out, you can just unscrew the pin right here, slide it out. That will remove the tow ring, and then to put it back in there, just line up the holes, slide the pin all the way through, and then thread it in till it's tight. And now you're ready to go, just like that. And to remove it, take out your pin and clip, slide it out of your hitch receiver, just like that. Pretty simple.

This is a sturdy steel construction. The shank portion you can see has a nice corrosion-resistant black powder coat finish to it. The tow ring itself is a nice zinc-plated finish to prevent any rust or corrosion. Specs on this, again, the application fits 2-inch by 2-inch trailer hitch receivers, weight capacity of 10,000 pounds. Few measurements on this, if we have the ring sticking out all the way, if we measure all the overall length from the end to where the furthest the ring sticks out, can see is gonna measure right about 9 1/2 inches. And if we just measure from the hitch pin hole center to where the ring sticks out, we're gonna be right at about 8 inches. But that should do it for the review on this Flint Hill Goods tow strap loop for a 2-inch hitch. Has a 10,000 pound weight capacity.

After installing the hitch receiver there was no way to use the OEM tow eye, so if our Touareg ever needed to be pulled from behind we were out of luck. Though the listed tow eye and tow hook here at etrailer.com were nice they each had their disadvantages: D-ring may not fit, tow strap could come off when slacked, etc. When I saw the tow strap loop @ 10K pounds I knew I found the right product to replace the OEM unit.

Anyone who installs an after-market hitch that doesn't have tow points needs to seriously look into alternatives. For the VW Touareg and Porsche Cayenne this fits the bill perfectly. It even stores nicely (wrapped in a rag) in the extra compartment in the spare tire well!

I haven't had to use it yet but it's heavy duty and stores nicely under the back seat.

For the price, this little slider is an OK value. I just wouldn’t trust it for anywhere near its rated 10,000 lb. capacity, especially if any lateral forces are involved. This is because the nice, beefy clevis loop is mounted to two relatively thin pieces of stock with space between them. In addition, the inside edges of the two pieces are not welded to the faceplate of the slider tube (see my photo). A far better design that would have added only a couple of bucks to the manufacturing cost, would have been to use a single piece of 1” solid stock (instead of the two thin pieces), welded to the faceplate along all four edges. Unless you absolutely need a detachable clevis loop, take a look at the TR63044 tow hook or TR63045 tow eye sliders. They are one piece, forged solid steel, incredibly heavy and strong, and not much more expensive. They are probably stronger than any receiver that you would mount them to.

After adding the hitch I wanted to get one of these to keep in the trunk so my wife can come to my rescue and pull my car out of the snow...
Haven't used yet but it is very solid.

I have looked high and low locally for this item, and have been continually disappointed. I turned to the internet and found exactly what I was looking for. Not only did it ship promptly, it arrived exactly on schedule, the price was reasonable, and best of all, it fit.

Everything that I purchased from you has been working just great. Dont have one complaint at all. Thanks for being interested in what your customers are buying, and using. Have a Great Day!!

by:

That was Super Fast delivery and it all works and looks great! Thank you very much for the great products and service!

by:

works well, with the D-L winch we purchased from etrailer.com for the rear receiver hitch on our travel trailer.

by:

Seems very well built for the price. Very heavy. Haven't needed to use it yet. Just tired of putting my tow traps on the ball of my other hitches. Seen the ball snap off because they were not designed for it. This should do the trick when it's needed.

by:

I haven't had a chance to use it yet, but looking it over the welds look to be of good penetration, and should serve my needs. For the money I think it was a good deal.

The receiver hitch clevis has stood up very well over the last year. I have put it through some heavy duty use pulling logs, and unsticking tractors from the mud. No signs of damage our unusual wear.

by:

it's a really snug fit, I had to use a mallet to get it far enough into the receiver to lock in, but over all it's solid, and exactly what's shown. The general construction is well done with clean welds and even paint, at least until I pounded it into my hitch receiver. But until it gets put through its paces this winter pulling cars out of snow banks I can't speak to the accuracy of its weight rating

by:

Durable enough for most minor pulling situations. The convenience of using the shackle with tow straps is wonderful.

by:

This is a great idea. When I've given a couple people a hand getting unstuck I don't even think about the eye of the tow strap coming off. I also pull logs off the beach and down hill sides. No more straps coming off. This is solid and I'm sure it will be in my truck for years to come.

by:

Love this extra recovery point and it looks great as a hitch plug on the back!

by:

Great accessory for hitch receiver for those who go offroad occasionally . Great price for quality product. Fast shipping ! Thanks for such a great site.

by:

I ordered the Erickson Tow Strap, tow strap loop, and the pin and clip to carry in my new to me 4Runner in case I need to assist or need assistance while off road wheeling.
Delivery was quick and packaging was good.
If I ever need to use these items I'll post my feedback.

This is my second order from etrailer. The products are fantastic and the prices very competitive. What is absolutely amazing is the service you receive, from the super friendly website to all the notification and follow up of the order. I got my order faster than I expected and the cherry on top was the last email personalized for me with all the instruction I may need. Thank you George, great job!

by:

Great part that works well with the 12 inch receiver extension.

by:

Good quality. Only used once with a Come-Along. Not as Heavy Duty as I thought.

by:

Nice product. Just as advertised, and for a good price. Shipping was fast and communication was great. Anyone planning to go off road should have a good recovery loop, and this will get the job done.

by:

Very nice product, exactly what I was looking for and for less than everywhere else on the internet. Shipping was amazingly fast. Thanks etrailer guys! I will return.

by:

by:

This worked perfect for what I was wanting to do! I put it on the receiver of my side by side and use it to tie down. Love it
