Tire size on sidewall

185/60-15

  1. (185) - indicates the width
  2. (60) - gives you the aspect ratio (sidewall height as percentage of width)

This is my third purchase from Etrailer. As always they delivered, again ahead of schedule. I can't give a complete review of the product because we are experiencing some unusually mild weather but I can say that the product arrived ahead of schedule, looks bomber, and came in a convenient carrying case. Previous purchases include a trailer hidden hitch and timbren suspension support for my 2007 Toyota Sienna. Both were supported by video/written instructions, available on etrailers website, and installed without a "hitch". Etrailer will continue to be one of the first websites I check for all my automotive needs! 30510

Easy to install and great traction! I just used these chains in Tahoe and they worked great! I was a little worried about installing them in the snow, but the design made it really easy because it's almost split into two sections that wrap around the tire instead of having to drive on top of them first. I would highly recommend doing a practice run before you actually need them, as the chains are a little intimidating at first, but after installing the first one, the second one was on in no time. Great product! 162770

This is my go to snow chains for easy to put on and take off quickly. You do need a round rubber ring to keep the chain really nice and tight. I find the self tightening system is okay but with a rubber ring to tighten the chains down, it is a lot better 582850

NOTE: Ended up not needing chains, so I cannot attest to how well they would have performed. However, I did a test run and put them on the tires at home (wearing leather gloves) and was pleased with how simple it was. 109648

I use the chain yesterday to bring my Nurse wife who works night shift to her work in the hospital. I live here in Long Island New York and she works in Jamaica Hospital in Queens. The chain makes it easy for me to navigate the snow. Would highly recommend to everyone who needs to be in a road in a severe weather like snow storm. 6215

I live on a mountain top in Western North Carolina where one of our recent snow falls left 10 inches of snow the first night. I refer to my driveway as The Roller Coaster because it is so steep and curvy and at 6:30 the morning I first used the chains, it was so covered that I had to guess where it was. I have an '03 Subaru Forester and with my Thule chains, I was able to go where the snow plows hadn't gone with no traction problems whatsoever. It was a week before I was able to safely take them off the car, but they're in the back for the next time I need them. etrailer is fantastic! I ordered the chains on Saturday, Dec 25, got confirmation of my order that same day and had the chains the following Wednesday. I recommend both etrailer and these chains without any reservations on either! 6119

Check out the etrailer video on Youtube for instructions to put these on. After a couple of views of one slightly misleading youtube video (the actual manufacture's one with the model number of these chains shows a part these chains do not possess) and finding another from etrailer putting these chains on a Subaru, we were successful in putting on these chains. They look good, go on simply, and have a case which will making stowing in the truck easily. Haven't used them yet on snow. 357446

Of course since I bought these tire chains, we have not received enough snow in my area of the country (mid-Atlantic) to actually test them under road conditions. However ... I do recommend that you practice installing these chains BEFORE you need to use them. It is not intuitively obvious how they get installed on your tires, and the pictograph directions are not the best. The mounting system is more complex (but probably more robust and secure) than the simpler systems of 20+ years ago. You should also be aware that after first mounting the chains, the car must be driven for a short distance to take the slack out of the chains and allow them to be fully tightened. A minor annoyance, but manufacturer-recommended, so do not avoid this step. I trial-mounted my Konigs on the front drive wheels of my Toyota Corolla. They are definitely low-profile and would allow for steering angles. Definitely a lot of Swedish steel in this product; I am sure it will get you through a Scandinavian winter. My chains always ride in my Toyota during the winter months. 478616

I used these chains for the first time to get me home after work when winter storm Jonas hit the east coast. The snow was so deep that I only had trouble when the snow started to pick my car off the ground. I made it all the way home with these chains but did notice a few links broke during the 30 minute drive home. I wasn't going any faster than 20-25 mph on the way home. I couldn't go any faster given how bad the roads were. These chains were easy to install and I did drive a few miles before stopping and retightening them as per the instructions. The chains can be used again even with the broken link but I will have to repair them in the spring or buy new ones next year. 236646

Review from a similar Konig CB12 in Tire Chains

I am a 63-year-old woman with a small frame and arthritis in both hands. I just did a practice run putting on the chains. 1) could not open case, needed to find a clippers to clip the little arrowhead catch at the top. 2) chains were EXTREMELY tangled together and took a long time to untangle -- why don't they package them in internal plastic bags? 3) first attempt to put chains on was a failure because they were still a bit knotted. I found that holding up the circle and letting the chains hang down like a basketball net, then carefully unhooking the circle and keeping all the chains pointing to the interior of the arc, on only one side of the blue "hoop", worked best. After that it was a snap. In spite of weak hands I could get enough tension on the chains (looked just like the picture in the video) and after driving the car forward slightly I adjusted it one notch tighter without problem. Had a couple of snags getting it off, and would appreciate instructions on the video. Haven't yet test the chains in snow so can't give a full rating of the product. Both the Review video and the Installation video show instructions but the installation video is a bit easier to follow. 174739

Subaru -- We had to use the snow chains only once, on the Subaru. I had installed the chains the night before, as a test which went as advertised. The following day the chains were employed leaving our home. The road has twists and is moderately steep for a distance of three quarters of a mile, the surface was covered with about one to one and one-half inches of packed snow. The descent was very controlled and uneventful. When we were on level, slush covered roadway, we were able to pull over and remove the chains as advertised, very easily. So far the truck has only had a "Test Run" in the garage, which again went just as advertised. 455362

I have to say I'm extremely satisfied with these tire chains!! They're so aggressive and work well with my corolla. My at is front wheel drive and the weight of the motors sits perfectly in line with the tire/chain combination. They bite and dig right in the snow and ice. My drive way is very long as you can see and quite dangerous in snowy conditions. I've had numerous times where I've had to slip the chains on and it was a breeze. They're so easy to put on and off. I feel extremely confident throughout the winter season with the Thule tire chains in the back of my trunk. Thank you so much! You guys have great products going! 110489

I don't usually submit online reviews but in this case wow what a great company! I ordered some chains for my Lexus ct200h on a Saturday and got a real live phone call on Sunday from Erika stating the product I ordered was out of stock. She recommended these chains instead and not only were they less expensive but they arrived on Thursday just in time for a California ice storm on Friday. I had to put the chains on for the first time on my way home to my house at 5000 foot elevation. I watched the video before leaving work and as promised they went on in a breeze even with the low wheel well clearance. Great company, great product- I couldn't be happier! 233652

These are best chains on the market that I found. Ive had others and they either broke or fell off the car. These chains I rely on to work every time. Easy to put on and to take off. Last years blizzard, the state shut the roads down, but my job requires me to be there. I was the only car on the road and the roads were not even plowed yet. 5 minutes to put on, less time to take off... these ain't your fathers chains. Best investment I've made for the winter time, and I've bought spares for all the cars in my household. 222352

I order these to put on my 2011chevy cruze and the fit great. Very important to make sure the chains are twist and kink free before sliding them under the car. It's fully possible to install the chains with out moving the car which it great! I do suggest retightening after driving 100 or so feet to make sure they are still secure. I bought these to help with traction with snow as this winter has been bad so far and I want to be prepared. Easy to install even though it was my first time it only too a couple mins. To install. Very pleased with these and love the storage case to keep the at the ready. 111260

Ice... I laugh at ice... So... We got stuck at the in-laws this Christmas because the hill up to civilization was covered in ice and we drive a Corrola. Determined not to have this happen again I read some reviews and bought these chains. I put one side on as soon as we got them to make sure they were the right size and they fit my 185/65/15s perfectly. The chains are not round either, but angled. I think they will be what we need to make sure we can get out next time it ices... The video on etrailer was much more helpful than the graphic instructions provided for installation though. Thanks etrailer! 5057

Great chains. I use a set of four on a subaru outback. Living at elevation, snow and ice. Not uncommon wintertime scene. Pretty easy on (have a pair of leather gloves and headlamp), five minutes ideally to get all four on in the dark. Practice with them before the storm. Very easy off. Will vibrate your teeth out if travelling on plowed roads, but that's not what they're intended for anyway. Take them off and throw them in the trunk. 334656

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. Under operating conditions for which these were designed, proper installation, and respect for all the guidelines provided, these chains will last season after season of use. Links breaking and premature wear are indicative of driving on pavement, we do provide a repair link if that does happen, and always advise chains be removed once you get to payment or lightly covered roads where the tires are able to make positive contact. Thanks again!

These Thule chains look a little light for long lasting, but time will tell. My only comment pre-use is that the directions for installation would have been just as helpful if written in Chinese. 162180

Comments

Etrailer has made a few videos to review the installation of these chains onto vehicles to show all the steps to supplement the basic included instructions. It is always recommended to do a few trial runs to familiarize yourself with the process, prior to being caught in the storm

The customer service I've received from etrailer has been exceptional. Greg kept me updated with my order at every step - even got my chains shipped out on Sunday of President's Day weekend! I will definitely be coming back to etrailer for future orders. The chains come in a reusable box that is pleasantly compact. You can't go wrong with TUV approval, plus the diamond pattern seems to be what most of the truckers I've seen use. The chains are easy to put on and fit my skinny sidewall tires nicely. 607051

Ordered these chains from etrailer.com for my 2007 Prius. First order from this company. Got a heads up call from Preston at etrailer saying there might be delay in shipping ( there wasn’t). Then followed up with call saying they had shipped. Company is obviously ‘customer satisfaction’ focused. Based on my experience with this one order from etrailer I would highly recommend it. Haven’t had to use the chains yet but I know they are quality (Thule) and will work. 596148

These chains are easy to install. It takes only a few minutes to install them and be on the road again. You don't have to lay in the snow and/or get under the car to install them. Of course the second part is the traction they provide. The car was not safe to drive on such slippery snow pack to no problem at all. 584706

Purchased the Thule chains after returning chains bought from Wal-Mart one year ago. The Wal-Mart chains were difficult to install and one broke immediately. When I spoke to Ricky one year ago to purchase the chains, he was helpful as we discussed the different chain options. The Thule chains fit the car well and are easy to install. Recently used them over the Thanksgiving 2016 weekend in Yosemite National Park. We drove 1- 1.5 hours at 25 - 30 mph with the chains from Yosemite Valley to the outside of the park. The roads had been plowed one time and the drive out of Yosemite was up and down as well as winding roads. We did not slip one time. Chains were required and a life saver. Also used the chains in Sequoia National park. The chains did their job as we climbed the mountains into the park. Highly recommend the Thule chains. 321162

  • The online edition of the owner's manual for your 2016 Subaru WRX notes on page 8-10 that low-profile S-Class tire traction devices can be used on the car's front axle only. It further states that you should use only devices rated by their manufacturer as suitable on your specific tire size. We do have options for your P245/40-18X tire size that are shown on the linked page. These do not include any of the ISSE snow socks, please note. If you are looking for low-cost chains that will...

  • Konig Tire Chain Recommendation for 2018 Toyota Camry with Size 235/45-18
  • The Konig tire chains part # TH01221102 that you referenced are a confirmed fit for your 2018 Toyota Camry tire size of 235/45-18 but they do not have "rim protection" so there is a chance they could scratch the rims. For a similar tire chain that fits and has rim protection the Konig part # TH00023102 would be what you'd want. I know it's a pretty big jump in price the Easy Fit Chains part # TH04115102 would be the best option if you wanted rim protection and an easy install. Unlike...

  • Recommended Snow Tire Chains For 215/65R16 Tires
  • For your 215/65R16 tires, we don't have snow socks that are a confirmed fit. I recommend using class s compatible chains to give you traction in the snow and maximize your internal clearance needed to protect your vehicle. I recommend checking your owners manual for compatibility. For chains only requiring 12mm clearance internally, I recommend the Thule Self-Tensioning Snow Tire Chains - Diamond Pattern - D Link - XG12 Pro - Size 230 # TH2004705230 or the similar # TH01221102. If...

  • Recommended Snow Chains for 2016 Honda Accord Sport
  • I took a look at the online version of the owner's manual for your 2016 Honda Accord Sport. It looks like there are a few possible tire sizes that this model came equipped with from the factory so you will just want to take a quick glance at the side wall on your tire to verify what you have. The manual for your Accord says to use chains on the front two tires only and to obtain chains that are designed to fit vehicles with limited wheel well clearance. It looks like the most common...

  • Tire Chain Recommendation for 2017 Audi A4 with Tire Size 245/35ZR19
  • For your tire size of 245/35ZR19 I'd recommend the Konig tire chains part # TH01221102. These are Class S compatible so they will fit well with 13.5 mm of clearance, would install easily, and will provide you great traction.

  • Tire Cable Recommendation for Fitting Tire Size 245/40-18
  • For lowered priced cables that fit your tire size of 245/40-18 I would recommend the Titan Tire Cables part # TC339DC. Reason being they have a V-pattern which will make for a smoother ride quality.

  • How Many Tire Chains are Needed on a 4 Wheel Drive GMC Sierra 2500HD
  • On a 4 wheel drive vehicle, you can put chains on all 4 tires as long as you are in 4 wheel drive. Otherwise the chains would go on the main drive wheels. In the case of a truck, that will be the rear wheels. You will want to consult the vehicle owners manual to determine what the manufacturer recommends for the use of tire chains on your truck. If it states that you can use them on all 4 wheels, you would need two sets. Or for just the rear wheels, one set. I have included a link to...

  • Tire Chains for a 2016 Honda Accord EX
  • There are at least 4 different possible stock tire size options for the 2016 Honda Accord. If it has 205/65-16 or 215/55-17 tires you can use # PW1038. If it has 235/45-18 tires you can use # PW1042. And if it has 235/40-19 tires then the option that requires the least clearance is a set of Konig chains # TH01221102. For the cables I also recommend a set of tensioners # PW105 to keep the chains tight and in position.

  • What is the Speed Rating for Thule CB12 Tire Chains
  • Tire chains are typically rated for 30 to 40 miles per hour depending on the chain. The Thule CB12 chains, # TH01221102, are rated for 31 miles per hour. If you are in conditions where chains are required, going 40 miles per hour is not a good idea. The faster you go the less control and traction you will have. Any chain can potentially become disconnected and higher speeds increase the chance of that occurring. The metal parts of the chains are not likely to wear out faster due to higher...

  • Recommended SAE Class S Tire Chains for 2000 Honda Odyssey
  • I would recommend abiding by the manufacturer stated instructions provided in the owners manual. I would recommend the Glacier V-Trac Cable Snow Tire Cables, part # PW1938V. These cables are SAE Class S, and the V trac design provides for a smoother ride than the the standard type cables like part # PW1038. The V track cables also include the rubber adjusters, which are not included with the standard cable set. I will provide a link to the V-Trac cables, as well as a link to our Tire...

  • Tire Snow Chain Recommendation for 2006 Dodge Caravan w/ 225/60-16 Tires
  • For a quality set of chains that won't break the bank, but will still be effective an easy to put on should you need them, I'd recommend the Thule Standard Snow Chains, part # TH01221102. The steel D shaped chain links will bite into the snow for increased traction. The chains are Class S for plenty of clearance, include a rubber tensioner and are protected by a whopping 5 year warranty. A hard plastic storage container is provided. We always recommend doing a dry run when you receive...

  • Snow Tire Chain Recommendation For A 1999 Ford Mustang GT
  • Before buying snow tire chains you will want to check your owners manual or with the Ford dealer to see if you can install snow tire chains on your 1999 Ford Mustang GT, or if there are any limitations. If you have the 225/55R16 tire size on your 1999 Ford Mustang GT I would recommend the Thule CB12 Snow Tire Chains # TH01221100. They have an internal clearance measurement of 12 mm which means they are a SAE Class S compatible. A Class S snow tire chain has to have an internal clearance...

  • Will I Need Snow Chains on both the Front and Rear of my 2000 Ford Crown Victoria
  • With a Crown Victoria, there will be enough weight pressing down on the front tires that you should not need them up front. But, since the Crown Vic is a rear-wheel drive car, you will most definitely need them on the rear tires. We are based in Wentzville Missouri and our only retail store location is here. We do regularly ship to the contiguous 48 states. And can ship to HI, AK and PR.
