Question:
i have a 2007 chevy c 5500 kodiak motor home. do i have to hard wire the brake controller or is there an adapter wiring harness to plug in for it? if i have to hard wire it, would you tell me how?

The controller would need to be hardwired to your C5500 motorhome as it would not have a harness under the dash using our Brake Controller Installation Kit, part # ETBC7. Due to the fact that your motorhome is longer than the usual passenger vehicle, you'd need an extra length of wire, probably about 20 feet. The wire is sold by the foot as part # 10-2-1.
I have linked you to instructions for the ETBC7 kit.
I would recommend an easy to use, reliable proportional controller like the Tekonsha Prodigy P2, part # 90885. A proportional controller has an internal accelerometer that can sense how quickly the tow vehicle is stopping. It then sends the proper amount of voltage to the trailer brakes so that the trailer and tow vehicle stop at the same rate. This provides safer, more predictable braking. A time delayed controller will always send the same pre-set amount of voltage to the trailer brakes, whether the braking event is a quick stab at the brake pedal or a full blown panic stop.

2005 Kodiak C5500 dump truck Have 7 way plug in rear. Wired a brake controller but set off brake light with a wrench and won’t stop dinging with door closed and buckled in.
