Question:

I’m currently looking at wiring my Class C RV and have to use the ETBC 7 kit. My RV is 30ft but the 10g jacket wire is only 25ft. Do you offer this kit with a longer jacket wire? Like a kit with 40ft jacket wire?

Hey Kelly, we used to have a version of the # ETBC7 that had extended wiring but we don't have it currently so best option would be to order a length of 10 gauge wire like part # 10-2-1 that we sell by the foot to match the length of your RV or the length of the wire that you would need. This is doubled bonded 10 gauge wire which means it's two 10 gauge wires bonded together. Typically an extra 10 foot is needed but for an RV like yours it would probably be more than that.

We also have 10 gauge wire as a single wire with the part # 10-1-1.

What kind of brake controller do you have?

I have not purchased a brake controller yet. What one would you recommend? My RV from what I can tell does not have pre wiring for a 7 plug. It only has a 4 plug

@KellyH I really like the Redarc Tow Pro Liberty part # RED52VR as it only puts a small knob on the dash of the vehicle, is proportional so it senses how hard you are applying the brakes to apply trailer brakes equally, and its very reliable. I actually just convinced my Dad to get this for his truck as well.

I recently installed the ETC7 on a Ford Maverick hybrid all went well, except connecting the last power wire from the brake pedal to the brake controller. It was impossible for me to do. Luckily I found an installer and it was worth every penny of the $40 it cost. Otherwise there is no way. That kid otherwise there is no way in my opinion that the wiring in that kit would be enough for a 30 foot RV.

@Tom yeah the stoplight switch can be tough to find. Especially on newer vehicles.

Kit was pretty good. Easy to install and you could easily extend it. Only weakness was the actual 7 way plug. Mine only lasted a few months before it completely corroded out and I had to replace it. It was never in salt, not sure what happened but it was junk.
