When you’re towing a loaded trailer across town or down the highway, this 15" x 6" Dexstar steel wheel is made to handle the weight and keep rolling. It meets DOT specifications and carries a capacity of 1,820 lbs. The sturdy steel construction gives dependable strength for regular use on utility, cargo, or boat trailers without flex or wobble under load.
Moisture and road salt can eat away at a wheel fast, but the black powder coat finish on this Dexstar rim is baked on over an e-coat primer for long-lasting corrosion resistance. It looks clean and stays protected through rain, grit, and heat so you spend less time worrying about rust and more time towing.
You get reliable alignment with a common 5 on 4-1/2" bolt pattern and a +0.5" positive offset that positions the wheel closer to the trailer frame. The pilot diameter is 2.62", and it uses standard 1/2"-20 wheel bolts for an easy match to compatible hubs. The backspacing measures 4", keeping your setup balanced and centered.
This conventional-style rim delivers a vintage steel look paired with modern durability. The simple solid-face design fits right in on restored trailers or fresh builds alike, giving you a clean black finish that complements baby moon caps like the Americana # AM90086 for those who want that classic touch alongside proven performance.
1. Count the lug holes
Look at the wheel hub or the back of the wheel and count how many lug holes there are(also called bolt holes).
Common configurations include: 4-lug, 5-lug, 6-lug and 8 lug
2a. For even lug counts (4-lug, 6-lug, 8-lug)
Measure from the center of one lug hole directly across to the center of the hole opposite it.
Common configurations: 4 on 4", 6 on 5.5", 8 on 6.5"
2b. For odd lug counts (5-lug)
Measure from the center of one lug hole to the outer edge of the hole directly across (not center-to-center since there's no directly opposite hole).
Common configurations: 5 on 4.5" (most popular), 5 on 5", 5 on 4.75", 5 on 5.5"

Hello everybody, this is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today we're gonna take a look at this Dexstar 15-inch by 6-inch black conventional steel trailer wheel with the five on 4-1/2-inch bolt pattern. Now this is a sturdy steel construction. This has excellent corrosion resistance 'cause they use a two-step finishing process, which will include first an E-coat primer and then a black powder coat finish over the wheel. Now this wheel, we called it a conventional design wheel, and what that means is it's an automotive style wheel that has the solid center design and it's designed to accept either the clip on full cover hub caps are the snap on baby moon hub caps that'll just cover the center section. Now this wheel does have a slight offset to it and it is a positive offset.
And offset basically is measuring where this mounting surface is in relation to the center line of the wheel. So if that mounting surface is right at the center line, that's zero, that's the starting point. If that mounting surface will move towards the outside of the wheel or the front of the wheel, which this one does, that's positive. If it would go this way, that would be negative. This one has a 1/2-inch positive offset, which means this mounting surface from the center line moves out 1/2-inch this way.
And when it does that, it'll move the tires and wheels closer to the trailer. Now this is a high-quality wheel. It does meet the DOT, Department of Transportation, specifications. If you notice the center cap does not included, if you do want a center cap, we do sell those separately. You do wanna get one that'll have the same pilot hole diameter as this pilot hole right here.
And the diameter on this is 2.62-inches. Now this part is made in the USA. A few measurements we're gonna do on this wheel is the diameter and the width. And when you measure the diameter on a wheel, you're gonna measure inside to inside. Basically when a tire's put on here, the tire beads you're gonna seat right here.
So that's what you're gonna be measuring. So if we get our tape measure, and if we go inside to inside, you'll be able to see there's your 15-inch diameter. And on the width we'll do the same. Center to center or inside to inside, bead seat to bead seat 6-inches on the width. And the bolt pattern on this wheel is a five on 4-1/2-inch bolt pattern. And if you wanna measure that on a wheel, that's an odd number of lugs, like in this case, five. What you'll have to do is pick any hole. So we're gonna take this one and then you're gonna measure across to either one of these holes, but when you measure, it's from the center of the starting hole to the furthest edge of whichever hole you measure to. So on this one, if we measured, it'd be 4-1/2-inches. So that's a five on 4-1/2-inch bolt pattern. Does use a wheel lug size of 1/2-inch by 20, and the weight capacity on this wheel is 1,820 pounds. But that's gonna do it for a look at this Dexstar 15-inch by 6-inch black conventional steel trailer wheel with the five on 4-1/2-inch bolt pattern.
