When you’re towing a loaded trailer, you want a wheel that won’t give up under pressure. Getting the right fit doesn’t have to be complicated. This wheel uses the standard 5 on 4-1/2" bolt pattern, a wheel bolt size of 1/2"-20, and a pilot diameter of 3.19". With zero offset, it centers evenly on the hub for proper weight distribution and dependable tracking behind your tow vehicle.

1. Count the lug holes
Look at the wheel hub or the back of the wheel and count how many lug holes there are(also called bolt holes).
Common configurations include: 4-lug, 5-lug, 6-lug and 8 lug
2a. For even lug counts (4-lug, 6-lug, 8-lug)
Measure from the center of one lug hole directly across to the center of the hole opposite it.
Common configurations: 4 on 4", 6 on 5.5", 8 on 6.5"
2b. For odd lug counts (5-lug)
Measure from the center of one lug hole to the outer edge of the hole directly across (not center-to-center since there's no directly opposite hole).
Common configurations: 5 on 4.5" (most popular), 5 on 5", 5 on 4.75", 5 on 5.5"

Hello everybody, this is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today we're gonna take a look at the Dexstar 15 inch by five inch white spoke steel trailer wheel with the five on four-and-a-half inch bolt pattern. Now this wheel's a sturdy steel construction. It is an eight spoke design wheel and it has excellent corrosion resistance 'cause it uses a two step finishing process, which first includes an E-Coat primer and then a white powder coat finish over it. It is a high quality wheel. Does meet the DOT Department of Transportation specifications.
Now if you notice the center cap is not included. If you do want a center cap, we do sell those separately. You just wanna make sure to get a center cap that'll have the same diameter as your pilot hole right here, 'cause when you install that center cap, it'll go through this hole. The diameter on the pilot hole is 3.19 inches. This wheel is made by Dexstar, which means it is made in the USA.
A few dimensions on this we're gonna measure is the diameter and the width of the wheel. And when you measure the diameter, what you're measuring is you'll be measuring inside to inside. The reason you do that when your tire is mounted on here, this is where the tire beads are gonna seat. So you're basically measuring from bead seat to bead seat. The inside measurement, so that's gonna get you the diameter, which you can see is right at 15 inches.
The width, you'll be doing the same thing. It's bead seat to bead seat. So inside to inside, there's your five inch width. Now the bolt pattern on this wheel is a five on four-and-a-half inch bolt pattern. And if you wanted to measure that on a wheel that's an odd number of lugs, like in this case, five, all you have to do is pick one of the holes, let's say this one, and then you'll measure across to either one of these holes.
But when you measure, it's from the center of the starting hole to the furthest edge of the hole you measure to. On this, if we measure it'd be four-and-a-half inches, so that means it's a five on four-and-a-half inch bolt pattern. Does use a wheel lug size of a half inch by 20, and the weight capacity on this wheel is 2,200 pounds. But that should do it for a look at the Dexstar 15 inch by five inch white spoke steel trailer wheel with the five on four-and-a-half inch bolt pattern.

If you buy new tires for your rims, you can choose to have them balanced if you prefer. Remember that many trailer wheels are centered by the position of the lug bolts - these wheels are lug-centric - and not the center bore of the wheel. For best results, have them balanced using a pin plate adapter. This mimics the way a lug-centric wheel is mounted to a hub.

Thankfully I have not need to use the mounted spare yet, but having it available is a huge plus. Trailer is stored outside, but the wheel continues to look new with no visible rust or corrosion. Never disappoint with items purchase from etrailer, and they continue to be a primary source for parts and accessories for my trailers and trucks.
