What is the Weight Capacity of the Dexstar Steel Spoke Trailer Wheel # AM20422?

Updated 12/30/2024 | Published 12/28/2024

Question:

I couldnt find the weight rating listed on these rims. What is the weight of this combo or weight savings compared to having a steel wheel?

Hello Jason,

I am not sure of what combo you are referring to. I can tell you that the weight capacity for the Dexstar Steel Spoke Trailer Wheel - 15" x 5" Rim - 5 on 4-1/2 - White Powder Coat # AM20422 is 2,200 lbs per wheel. I hope this helps.

The wheel and tire combo I asked the question under, part #TA77XR. How much does the AL wheel it's self and/ or the wheel and tire combo compared to a similar set with steel wheels.

@JasonD Sorry about that Jason, somehow it linked your question to the # AM20422. For the # TA77XR the wheel's weight capacity is 2,835 lbs which would be # TA74XR, and the tire is rated at load range E at 2,830 lbs at 80 psi which is part # TR225LRE. So if you were to use the combo # TA77XR the highest weight you could handle is 2,830 lbs at 80 psi as it is the weakest link. So the # TA77XR can handle 680 more pounds than the # AM20422.

@KateF I'm asking how much does the wheel weigh compared to a steel wheel, not the weight capacity. Either the wheel or wheel and tire combo. The weight capacities are already listed.

@JasonD The actual weight of the # TA74XR is about 18.76 pounds, the weight of the combo # TA77XR is about 49.15 pounds. The weight of the steel wheel # AM20422 is about 19.52 pounds. The weight of the tire # TR225LRE by itself is about 31.41 pounds. We do not have the steel wheel # AM20422 with a load range E tire already on it, you would need to purchase them separate and have a local tire shop mount them for whatever their fee is. Hope this helps.
