1. Count the lug holes
Look at the wheel hub or the back of the wheel and count how many lug holes there are(also called bolt holes).
Common configurations include: 4-lug, 5-lug, 6-lug and 8 lug
2a. For even lug counts (4-lug, 6-lug, 8-lug)
Measure from the center of one lug hole directly across to the center of the hole opposite it.
Common configurations: 4 on 4", 6 on 5.5", 8 on 6.5"
2b. For odd lug counts (5-lug)
Measure from the center of one lug hole to the outer edge of the hole directly across (not center-to-center since there's no directly opposite hole).
Common configurations: 5 on 4.5" (most popular), 5 on 5", 5 on 4.75", 5 on 5.5"

Today we're going to review part number AM20377. This is the Deck Star 14 inch by 5 and half inch silver directional steel trailer wheel with the 5 on 4 and half inch bolt pattern. Now this wheel's a sturdy steel construction. You notice it has the directional design to it and has a nice, silver, powder coat finish that's put over an e-coat primer on the front and the back of the wheel for excellent corrosion resistance. This is a high quality wheel, meets the Department of Transportation specifications and this part is made in the U.S.A. A few specs on this, on the rim, we'll start with the diameter. Now the diameter is measured inside to inside.
We put a tape measure on that you can see right at 14 inches. The width would be the same way, inside to inside, or bead seat to bead seat and that's 5 and half inches. So 14 by 5 and half inches. Now the bolt pattern on this wheel is a 5 on 4 and half inch bolt pattern. If you want to measure the bolt pattern on a wheel that's an odd number of lugs, in this wheel it's 5, all you have to do is pick one of the holes.
We'll pick this one, and then you'll measure across to either one of these holes. We're going to go from this hole to this hole. What you want to do is the starting hole you strictly measure from the center of the starting hole to the furthest outer edge of the hole that you go to. This case, if we go center to the furthest outer edge you can see is 4 and half inches. So 5 on 4 and half inch bolt pattern. This wheel does use a lug size of a half inch by 20.
The pilot hole diameter, it's the large hole here in the center of the wheel, this is what goes over the hub on your trailer, the diameter of this opening is going to be right at 3.19 inches. The weight capacity on this wheel is 1,870 pounds. That should do it for the review on part number AM20377.
