This radial special trailer tire is made to handle serious highway runs and heavy loads without breaking a sweat. It’s Load Range E with a 10-ply rating and carries up to 3,640 lbs at 95 psi. With its M-speed rating (81 mph) and DOT compliance, it’s ready for high-speed hauls and long-distance towing that demand consistency and control.
The 5-rib tread pattern keeps the contact patch flat so wear stays even across the surface. Silica-infused tread and angled siping help reduce hydroplaning, giving you dependable traction whether the pavement’s hot and dry or slick from rain. It’s the kind of balance that makes every mile feel steady and predictable.
Radial cord placement at a 90-degree angle means less internal friction, so the tire runs cooler and resists heat buildup. That lower rolling resistance leads to longer tread life and more stable steering at higher speeds—exactly what you want when you’re running loaded in warm weather or on extended trips.
Sized ST235/85R16 with a 9.3" section width and 31.6" outer diameter (when inflated), this tire fits 16" x 6", 16" x 6-1/2", 16" x 7", and 16" x 7-1/2" rims. That range gives you solid fitment options while keeping your trailer tracking straight mile after mile.
For the first twelve months, if the tire is damaged in any way, it’s replaced at no charge under Kenda’s worry-free guarantee. Add in the 5-year limited warranty, and you’ve got confidence built right into every trip.
1. Count the lug holes
Look at the wheel hub or the back of the wheel and count how many lug holes there are(also called bolt holes).
Common configurations include: 4-lug, 5-lug, 6-lug and 8 lug
2a. For even lug counts (4-lug, 6-lug, 8-lug)
Measure from the center of one lug hole directly across to the center of the hole opposite it.
Common configurations: 4 on 4", 6 on 5.5", 8 on 6.5"
2b. For odd lug counts (5-lug)
Measure from the center of one lug hole to the outer edge of the hole directly across (not center-to-center since there's no directly opposite hole).
Common configurations: 5 on 4.5" (most popular), 5 on 5", 5 on 4.75", 5 on 5.5"

Hello, everybody, this is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna take a look at the Kenda Karrier ST235/85R16 radial trailer tire in a Load Range E. Now, this is an ST tire, which means it's a special trailer tire. Has a sturdy sidewall, so that it can handle heavy loads. And it is created specifically for trailers, it's not intended for use on other vehicles. It is a Kenda Karrier special trailer radial tire, uses steel belts and polyester plies, which combine for superior function and long life.
The tread on it uses a silica-infused tread. And then if you look at the tread blocks, you'll see these cuts or openings. Those are sipes that'll help reduce hydroplaning. This tire's also excellent handling in off-pavement situations. It is an ST tire, it does meet the DOT, Department of Transportation specifications.
Now, the wheel size this tire will fit on is a 16 inch by six inch wide, 16 by 6 1/2 inch wide, and a 16 by seven inch wide wheel. The tire size, which will be stamped on the sidewall, ST for special trailer, 235/85R16. R means that it is a radial tire. Section width on it is 9.3 inches. Overall diameter from the bottom to the top when it's inflated is 31.6 inches.
And this tire is a Load Range E, which means it's a 10-ply rated tire. Has a maximum load capacity of 3,640 pounds at 95 psi. And the last thing I do wanna mention is they do come with a speed rating now. And they stamp it on the sidewall, but it is a letter designation. And where you'll find it is right after the tire size.
There's two numbers for the load index, and then a letter M. Speed rating M will mean this is an 81 mile per hour speed rating. But that's gonna do it for our review on this Kenda Karrier ST235/85R16 radial trailer tire in a Load Range E.

I love the way you explained how the tires take on wet roads. Also, I wanted to ask if those were kennels on your trailer.

Oh my, they are still holding air. So far this year they made it to Orlando and Racine, about 4200 miles. Going through Illinois. I thought for sure Id have to air down due to road conditions. But they did fine.

One year later and the tires still look nearly new. I’ve hit a number of deep pot holes at 45 mph+ and no visible damage to the tires. The trailer still tracks the same as the first day they were installed. I will be buying these tires for my 25 foot travel trailer when the old ones were out.
