When the time comes to move or align your unhitched trailer, the Trailer Valet XL is at your service. Instead of driving your vehicle to your trailer, use this heavy-duty dolly to drive your trailer to your hitch. This saves you the time and frustration of having to repeatedly back up your vehicle to align the hitch ball with your trailer's coupler.
The Trailer Valet XL also makes it easy to park or move your trailer into tight spots and to position it in a garage. It allows you to take corners and make slight adjustments in steering while the trailer is moving. No more attempting to back the trailer in with your vehicle.
The Trailer Valet XL is easy to operate. You can either use the included hand crank to operate the chain drive system, or you can make operation even easier by powering the drive with your 18-volt drill (not included). The drive system activates the dual positraction wheels. Both wheels are engaged while the Trailer Valet is moving straight - in either forward or reverse. When you need to make a turn, one of the wheels disengages and freewheels, allowing the other wheel to move the trailer. All you have to do is power the drive system and direct the Trailer Valet XL with the steering handle. When you straighten the steering handle back up, the other wheel reengages and the Trailer Valet XL drives straight again.
The Trailer Valet XL also includes an auto-brake function that acts as a wheel chock to keep your trailer in place. When the steering handle is raised up, the drive system is engaged. The handle automatically falls down when it is released, bringing the wheels to an immediate halt. This safety feature prevents your trailer from running away from you. The handle also locks when down, keeping your trailer level and secure for storage, though wheel chocks should still be used.
The solid rubber, never-flat tires on this dolly outperform inflatable tires, and hold up better under the weight of your trailer. Deep treads in the tire surface give you better traction on gravel, dirt, and grass. But you will get the best results when using this dolly on well-packed surfaces or pavement.

I received the trailer valet I thought it would serve my needs as it turns out it cannot even move my boat at all the video sure it moving boats with trailers and even cargo trailers Going up inclines I assure you it can’t do that I’ve not been able to even move my boat out of my garage with the trailer valet this is a very poor experience I basically cannot use it does not serve my needs I would like to return it for something more substantial an electric dolly or gas powered dolly after speaking to your customer representative I understand I cannot do that because I’m out of the window of returns
When using on a ball hitch it is terrible. I have a 18’ fiberglass boat that is heavy and the unit does not move it well, tire slips on one side, even with the unit properly tightened to the hitch it will have a tendency to bend the lip of the trailer receiver. I’ve gone through 2 receivers now and each one eventually bends due to the inadequate design of the mounting plate. The unit is a waste of $$ for a ball hitch. I wish I had ordered the design that mounts to the tongue frame of the trailer, it appears to be more stable.

It seems that we do not carry any dolly's with this weight capacity and ball size that you can mount to your trailer tongue.
Really a great and easy to use trailer mover. My new boat only had 2 inches on each side and 3 inches in height to clear the garage opening. With my truck it was a tedious and stressful to get the boat inside. The trailer valet made it easy and stress free to get the boat inside the garage. I did have one issue. When I released the valet from the the hitch, I didn’t have a good grip and the handle dropped and chipped the grip. I don’t think it would have chipped if it was completely on the handle. I called customer service and Mellisa T. listened to my concern, contacted someone in that area, called me back in about an hour and has a replacement part shipping. Thank you Melissa T.!

Great! It works perfect for putting my Ranger 622, about 5,000 lbs. with trailer, in and out of the garage. My driveway has an incline into the garage. Even if the concrete is wet from rain it goes right up the grade, no traction issue. Great product! People who have trouble on inclines need to raise the trailer wheel off the ground so the valet has all the weight.
I've had the chance to use the trailer valet several times now and find it useful, but lacking. I had to repair all of the shaft bushings due to the mounting holes were very oversized and the bushings spun when used. This caused the valet to squeal loudly when attached to a drill motor. I also found that the brake lever is very sensitive and accidentally lowering the brake arm slightly locks up the drill and spins you around with it. Hurts too! I had to purchase a 3" pin spanner wrench to tighten the ball collar nut. The supplied wrench is junk, that nut has to be very tight the supplied wrench was not up to the task. I can maneuver my 19' trailer with it so for the price its OK.

Ive used the trailer valet now thru 2 seasons, my repair is holding up. Maneuvers my escape 19 tandem just fine.
My wife and I purchased the Trailer Valet XL to assist us with backing our 24-feet towing trailer from off the street and down our residential driveway through the drive gates to the vehicle port. Our challenge with using the valet is trying to keep the tongue weight of the towing trailer down to about 500 pounds. This seems to work best for us. Keeping over-bearing weight off the tongue of the towing trailer makes it easier to crank and guide the Trailer Valet XL. Noteworthy, do not allow the wheels of the Trailer Valet XL to get onto the grass. If on the grass, the wheels of the valet will spin in place and not move the trailer. Additionally, it will help immensely if the company show customers how to use the stabilizing plate they ship with the valet. We exchanged our first valet for another one because the gears sounded like they were grinding. The Trailer Valet XL Company did an outstanding job by promptly sending us a new valet and providing a UPS voucher for returning the older valet. Over all, we think the valet product is good, and the Trailer Valet XL company is excellent on how it stands behind its product.

Our Trailer Valet XL is working out just great. Its doing everything as advertised. The more we work with it, the better we like it.
Purchased this to drag our Jayco X23B which empty weighs 4300 pounds. We park it in our driveway backward to make it easier to access the entry doors. A side benefit is that no one without a dolly can get it out. After I misplaced the drill bit, I moved it entirely by hand...enough to pull it out of the driveway, turn it around, and put it back. Tiring but totally doable. Driveway has a slight slope and lip that I had to 1) approach at an angle and 2) put a board down to decrease the lip. Otherwise valet's wheels just slipped. Found that putting my own weight on the valet helped with the traction. Have since found the bit and it is significantly easier than hand cranking.
Why not 5 stars. Initial valet had some metal shavings from the gearing, e.g. something was rubbing badly. Contacted etrailer to see about a replacement. Initially they wanted me to send it back, including me paying for the shipping, and then they'd resend. After a couple emails, got them to send to me a new one and a pre-paid packing label, so no cost to me. New one works great.
One word of caution, if your trailer is on a slight slope the handle will try to free spin if the brake isn't down...hurts a bit to wack your wrist.

Not impressed. Even the absolute minimal slope for our 4000 pound trailer is too much. Literally have to run at an angle and even then am fighting it. Want to buy a used trailer valet?
I just bought a bigger boat and trailer that weigh about 4000 pounds. They are kept in a dry storage yard where I must push the trailer by hand to the crane to launch the boat. The yard surface is smooth concrete with a very slight incline for water drainage.
I am 67 years old and it was difficult to move my old boat and trailer to the crane and it weighed only 1500 pounds. I wanted to buy a bigger boat but knew I would need a powered dolly to move my new boat. After much research, I decided I would buy the Trailer Valet XL when I got a bigger and heavier boat.
I've now have used the Trailer Valet XL 8 times and it works great. I am able to move my 4000 pound boat and trailer to and from the crane very easily by myself. I am using my four year old 18 volt Makita drill motor and it has plenty of power to quickly move the boat and trailer.
The boat and trailer are kept in a very tight parking spot with just 2 inches of space on each side. The Trailer Valet XL lets me easily steer the trailer in to its parking spot using the drill motor attachment. It steers and brakes easier than I thought it would.
I also watched the installation video (2 times) before I installed the Trailer Valet XL. I installed it correctly the first time in about 15 minutes. When I used the Trailer Valet for the first time, I had to learn to hold the steering/brake lever in the fully up position before I used the drill motor to move the boat and trailer.
I give the Trailer Valet XL a 5 star rating. It does an excellent job moving my 4000 pound boat and single axle trailer on smooth concrete. I have plenty of steering control and my battery powered drill moves the boat quickly. I think there is a good chance that the trailer Valet XL will allow me to move my boat and trailer to and from the Crane until I'm 80 years old.
Finally, etrailer took my order over the phone in just a few minutes and the product was shipped to me at no cost and no sales tax in just 5 days.

Ive used the Trailer Valet 2-3 times a month for a year now. It continues to work as advertised and I can still move my 4500 pound boat and trailer to and from the crane easily by myself. I am 68 years old and I could not keep my boat in the storage yard without the Trailer Valet. I love the machine. My wife sewed a simple cover for the Trailer Valet to keep the rain and dew off of it as we live at the beach. The cover is working great and the Trailer Valet looks like it is new. I have not had to do any maintenance on the Trailer Valet to date. Ive recommend the Trailer Valet to other people in the storage yard several times and suggest they buy it from etrailer.com. The Trailer Valet is still a great product after a year of real use.
I was torn on wether or not to give this item a 5 star or 3 star review...So I opted for 4.
One point to make to prospective buyers- watch the ETRAILER video in it's entirety- the last 2 minutes go in depth on the proper procedure for attaching the dolly to your trailer. For additional reference, I'm moving a 6x10 enclosed trailer with 1000lbs of equipment always on board (2300lbs total...ish)
The best way for me to go about this is a PROS/CONS list.
PROS:
-works exactly as described
-best option for its price point
-entire unit is serviceable
-makes VERY quick work of maneuvering on pavement.
-very well built.
CONS:
-unit is very heavy (50 lbs)
-gravel performance is...ok (this may be because I don't have enough weight on the tongue, wheels break free often...chewing up my 3/8 gravel driveway)
-price seems high for what the unit is
-braking mechanism is a bit grabby, often grinds gears if not careful to pull up constantly on the tiller. Makes operation a little awkward.
-attachment to trailer is a little awkward, disconnect is even more awkward.
-unit should be at least 4" taller overall. I'm only 5'9" and it's a bit uncomfortable bending over while operating, with or without a drill. I don't see how this addition in height could really hurt their bottom line, and it wouldn't make storage an issue. It would be MUCH more comfortable to use. The Pro-XL model is a VERY comfortable height.
I'd venture to guess they could shave a bunch of money off their production cost by creating a mechanism to accept off the shelf balls, rather than use their beautifully machined ball. I recognize it's part of their system, but they really need to knock down the cost. $800 feels like a lot for a tool I use once a week, and I spend more time setting it up and taking it down than I do using it for maneuvering. I'd be very pleased if it was $500.
All that said, I still recommend this tool. It is a game changer. Just needs a little more tweaking, but it's still very good.

This product is a real back saver, even with the bent over user position. I dont regret buying it. If I had more weight on the tongue, I think traction would improve its practically useless with my 16ft boat but I used it on my dump trailer, and the added weight only seemed to improve its performance. This is a great tool.
I purchased the Trailer Valet XL Trailer Dolly in the latter part of March 2016 and have been using it now for about six months. I have a fourteen foot enclosed cargo trailer that is regularly loaded to the max with hobby gear and is very difficult to park next to my house and in the sometimes tight places at the events I go to using my tow vehicle. I have tried some of the other hand dollies with mixed and sometimes disastrous results, and then I found the Trailer Valet XL. WOW! This thing makes parking my trailer a breeze. At home I’m able to park my trailer right next to the work shop door the first time every time, at events I can squeeze my trailer into the tightest spaces and look like a pro doing it! The Trailer Valet is easy to attach to the hitch and the two different hand crank speeds make maneuvering the trailer a snap, I usually opt to use the eighteen volt drill attachment to speed things up a tad. The brake holds extremely well and in the event of the trailer getting away from you, just releasing the handle sets the brake. I have used the Trailer Valet on paved and unpaved surfaces with good results but have to say that paved or hard packed surfaces work best. The cost of the unit is a little high but I do consider the Trailer Valet XL a good purchase and would recommend it to anyone.

My Trailer Valet XL is working out just great. It is doing everything as advertised. I stand by my initial review. Just a couple of things to remember, make sure you check and maintain the air pressure in the tires and grease the chain periodically. If you are using the drill attachment, make sure you have the handle all the way up to disengage the brake or when you engage your drill youll get a good whack on your drill hand to remind you.
I think sending this dolly with no ball is a bad thing. I could understand sending the wrong ball, but no ball? Wow....just wow

I found that the Trailer Valet XL isn't able to move my camper into the garage. The problem is that the driveway is about half an inch below the garage entrance, which also has a slight incline to allow rainwater to drain away. When the wheels hit this bump, it creates a lot of leverage force on the ball and hitch, making it difficult to push the camper wheels over the bump and incline. The XL has a plate that must be tightened against the bottom of the hitch, but it cannot be tightened enough to overcome the leverage force.
The Trailer Valet XL works great on relatively level and even surfaces. However, if extra force is required to move the trailer, the plate under the ball has limits in its ability to keep the XL perpendicular to the hitch.
On absolutely flat, dry asphalt, the Trailer Valet XL would do an adequate job moving trailers up to 5,000 lbs. I have a less than 3% incline on an aggregate driveway, and it just isn’t up to the task.
I gave it an excellent rating not knowing if it is! The construction and write up are very good. Problem, with rating your product now, it’s winter, boat is up and winterized. Late April I could then rate it.
I’m 72 and this item is a winner. Tested on 6’ utility trailer. Easy rolling. Wheels only spun trying to turn sharp. Went to the 16’ enclosed trailer. Left the trailer jack wheel close to the ground, just in case? Easier than I had expected.
Works as advertised. Without this product trying to get my boat in a very specific place in my garage was very difficult and physically too much. I bought a 3/8 right angle drill attachment to utilize the drill adapter but the crank handle was so easy I just used the handle. I am on pavement and not much downward slope in driveway. Very cool.
Within 5 minutes of unboxing my new Trailer Valet XL, I moved my Aliner Camper from out of a very narrow carport, 30 feet down a slight sloped driveway and then back in the carport. There was no installation and the instructions were very easy to follow. I had no problems moving and maneuvering the trailer with the hand crank, much easier than I had thought it would be. We will be camping this week end and would hope to update this review after our trip. The XL is a great product and very well made.
I didn't have high hopes for this (maybe that's more because I've been burned by too many products in the past), but WOW! It works!
About my trailer: it's 20' long, ~3100# but is heavy on the tongue (600#)
My trailer is stored at a storage facility between two much larger RVs and a post that's attracted to trailers. Without a lot of room to maneuver, I've always dreaded the return trip when it's time to tuck the trailer back into its home.
Yesterday I returned and one of the RVs was gone, but rather than celebrate - I decided to try the Trailer Valet to see how it works. I thought if something went haywire, at least i would only damage one other RV.
My concern with the Trailer Valet XL vs the other systems I looked at was its braking ability. I have to climb a small hill (1 - 2 degrees) into my slot, and my worst fear was a run-away trailer - so I placed my wife on 'Full Chock Alert' and hooked it up.
I turned the crank, it moved. I turned the crank and moved the handle and it shifted directions. Over the course of about 10 minutes I moved it about 40 feet; up a hill and between the lines. My wife was so impressed that I rolled the trailer into it's spot using just my arms she brought me some water and offered to take me to lunch. I'm not going to tell her she could probably do it too. :)
The secret is making sure it is TIGHT to the coupler. Use the wrench to tighten it, tighten it some more, and then one more time. When you hit your knuckles you're getting there.
Highly recommended and I'm just sorry I didn't know about this years ago.
I have an awkward parking situation. The narrow alleyway behind my home is a dead end. Barely room to maneuver my 14’ cargo trailer and even more of a challenge with our new 26’ travel trailer. Last year I removed all of the broken concrete and put down crushed rock and compacted really tight so it’s almost like concrete. I read just about every review out there on this unit and was worried with my surface. It’s pretty flat but not perfect so I went ahead and purchased the Trailer Dolly XL. In order for me to fit my trailer it has to be parallel to the alley and fence. I was pretty surprised at just how well this unit worked. I was able to maneuver the trailer into place, not without a challenge but what is a little challenge in life right?! The unit works amazingly well for my situation and yes it can dig holes, it is a challenge but thinking through the process and using wood and maybe even a little helpful push and it will do the job. Definitely a challenge but it works exactly as it is designed and I am happy I purchased this unit. If your on the fence I can recommend this unit and if you have a challenging area like mine it will take some brain power to make it work but it does what it is supposed to do and fairly easy to use with a drill motor which is the only way I have used it so far. Also the coupler needs to be tight as possible with this kind of weight. Others that have listed negatives I can see the complaints and it takes some brain power to overcome the challenges so if your that person I believe it can work for you!

The Trailer Valet is still working like a charm. I’ve used it to move two boats and a trailer in my garage. Don’t know how I’d live without it!
Slow and steady! I push my 21 foot boat around a slight corner of the garage with abut 10" on a side. Really happy with this product.
I have to return this. I store our camper in a pretty flat asphalt area that backs into a concrete stall. Fought for 30 min to get it in but not in right. Too hard... not as simple as the videos.
It turns out that I didn’t need to order a 2 5/16” ball. The dolly came with one. Somehow I missed that detail. Oh well. The dolly works great.
I thought about purchasing this product for a couple years but could never quite do it. Backing my boat into this part of the garage has always been a challenge and a lot of physical labor. I wish I would’ve purchased this dolly years ago as it definitely will reduce the labor and worry about damaging my boat and garage as well as easier and safer bringing the boat out of the garage. I LOVE IT!! So easy to attach, and I have a drill dedicated to the dolly. It absolutely makes it easier to move my boat in or out of the garage. I’ve also learned that the slow gear is enough speed for me to control the trailer

This trailer valet is rated for up to 1,000 pounds of tongue weight and a gross trailer weight of 10,000 pounds. Additionally if the trailer steering handle is in the down position it may activate the integrated brake on the trailer valet, and this would prevent any movement.
