Solution for Getting Trailer Valet XL Over Transition Between Drive and Garage Floor
Updated 10/27/2025 | Published 03/24/2025 >
Question:
I purchased the Valet XL and used it for the first time on my 2025 Aliner Expedition, dry weight of 2,300 lbs. I wanted the XL because it attaches to the towing coupler. It worked great except when I got to the point where the driveway ends and meets the floor of the garage. There is about 3/4 inch difference where the garage floor is higher then the driveway. Once I hit that bump the XL lost traction and started skidding and I could not get the trailer wheels up that bump. Is there a recommended solution for this? I was thinking of putting a long sheet of wood, about 1/4 inch think, on the drive way just right where it meets the garage floor, hoping the XL could get up 2 smaller bumps and into my garage.

Hey Ken! What you suggested is exactly what I would have recommended for your # TVXL2. I would take a sheet of wood and use it to create a ramp to bridge that gap. If it has difficulty getting up onto the wood for some reason you could cut the edge at an angle for a smoother transition.

Hey Ken, did the wood ramp help your Valet XL get your Aliner Expedition over that small bump into the garage? Your results could really help others dealing with the same traction issue on slight grade changes.
