Optronics # MCL65AB
Maxxima # M20350Y
The waterproof construction of this light makes it ideal for use on trailers that may be submerged, like a boat trailer. The circuit board is sealed, which means that water will not damage the diodes or circuit board.
A P2-rated light produces a 45-degree angle of light to either side of its centerline for a total of 90 degrees of coverage. This beam pattern can be seen straight on, but it cannot be seen clearly from the side. So this type of light can be used as either a side marker light or a clearance light, but it cannot function as both. If you need both functions, then you must install 2 separate lights on your trailer - one as a front or rear clearance light and one as a side marker light.
Surface-mount trailer lights install using a flange or bracket with mounting holes. These lights lay flat against the trailer surface and only require a small, often pre-existing hole, for wiring. Mounting hardware is used to secure the light to the trailer.

Today we're going to take a look at the Peterson Piranha LED Clearance or Side Marker light. This is going to have four diodes and an amber lens. This is going to replace or upgrade your existing trailer marker light or clearance light. This is just going to mount on the surface of your trailer with a bracket. You can find that bracket sold separately here at etrailer.com using part number B154-11. It also is going to work with the female marker light plug, which is also sold separately.
You can also find that using part number 153-49. This is what it's going to look like. If we connect that to the back of our light, we'll get all our functions, and then you turn that on, and we'll be able to power our light. It seems we will have our four diodes in there, turn the lights out in the studio, so you can get a better idea of what it'll look like in the dark, provides a pretty good amount of light. The nice things about LEDs over an incandescent bulb is that there's no brittle filaments that can break, so you don't have to worry about replacing any bulbs with this. It's going to be up to 50 times longer lasting than your incandescent bulbs, and just provides a nice, bright light with less power output.
This is going to have an input voltage of nine to 16 volts DC. If we turn off our power here, pull off our plug, again this plug is sold separately here at etrailer.com, and this light is going to be DOT compliant. As far as our dimensions, it's going to be three and three sixteenths of an inch long, and about one and a quarter inch wide, and it'll be thirteen sixteenths inch deep. It has four diodes, and those LEDs do have a limited lifetime warranty from Peterson. That's going to do it for our look at the Peterson Piranha LED Clearance or Side Marker lights with four diodes and an amber lens..
