Features to know about

Bright, Efficient Backup Illumination: 22-Diode GloLight LED

Good light output makes all the difference when backing up. This GloLight LED backup light uses 22 white diodes behind a clear lens to throw a bright, even beam that helps you see what’s behind you. At 12.8V it only draws 0.386 amps, so it’s efficient and easy on your wiring circuit. The GloLight outer ring gives a smooth, modern look while staying DOT compliant for backup light function when used as a pair.

Built for Wet Conditions: IP67 Rated and Fully Submersible

Water and electronics rarely mix, but this light is made for it. The housing and lens are sonically sealed into one waterproof unit that can be completely submerged without damage. With an IP67 rating, it handles being under water up to 1 meter for 30 minutes—perfect for trailers that see boat ramps, rain, or road spray. You don’t have to worry about moisture sneaking in and damaging your LEDs or wiring.

Tough Construction That Lasts: Polycarbonate Lens and Housing

Durability matters when lights take constant vibration and the occasional road debris hit. This light uses a clear polycarbonate lens and housing that resist impact and UV wear. There are no fragile filaments or bulbs to replace—just solid-state LEDs that last up to 50 times longer than incandescent bulbs while keeping performance consistent over time.

Simple, Clean Installation: Surface Mount with PL-3 Connection

Mounting this light is straightforward with its built-in surface-mount flange that sits flat against the trailer body. It accepts an industry-standard 2-prong PL-3 plug (A45CB or A49PB – both sold separately) for power and ground, making wiring quick and secure. The plug also seals the unused port against dirt and moisture for a clean finish that stays protected once installed.

Reliable Power and Compliance: DOT Certified Design

This LED backup light meets FMVSS 108 requirements in any 360-degree position when installed as part of a two-lamp system. It runs on standard 12V DC setups, giving you bright performance with low power draw and peace of mind knowing it’s built to meet safety standards every time you hit reverse.

Fits very nice on 2008 Ranger Bass boat. It was not necessary, but I chose to trim a bit of the original hole to make it bigger for centering reasons. Looks like it was made with it when Item #a70gb is added.

It’s working out great..

etrailer does provide a wide range of products with different price points so the customer has a lot of choices to make the decision that is right for her\him. You also offer good online support documentation and your technical staff is also very helpful in helping the customer make the right choices.
Unfortunately, you left me with a very bad experience. I ordered a full set of lighting & wiring to redo our quad trailer from the 7-pin plug to reverse lights. A large order. I erroneously ordered 2 reverse\turn single lights, which is on me, so I expected a restocking fee (a little excessive, but that's the inventory business). I had to return the 2 wrong lights and order the correct one. I returned both lights, but etrailer said they only received one, which I was 99% sure I returned both. You had no interest or showed any flexibility considering maybe I was correct. This is a one year review you have asked me to submit and the light you claimed I did not return, still has not shown up in my garage. I liked dealing with you on numerous occasions, but I have taken my business elsewhere. That was a sad experience.

by:

Added Glolight LED's to my trailer. Much brighter than the factory originals. Makes launching pre sunrise much easier. You can see where you are backing up.

@Dean Good to hear!

by:

As Bright as was said they would be. Matched perfect with existing lights on new trailer.

by:

I gave 4 stars because I really thought they’d be brighter for backup lighting. They definitely do help in letting others know you’r intentions from behind.

by:

These back up lights are 2 - 3 times bigger than the lights that come stock on the Ranger trailer. More importantly, they are much brighter and make backing up the boat so much easier in the dark. I highly recommend these if you are looking to replace or upgrade your trailer lights. Etrailer is always great to work with. Highly recommend!!!

It's awesome to hear that being able to back up your boat easier in the dark now, Ryan! I assume that your boat is also a Ranger boat?

@GwendolynY I should have been more clear. I was looking to upgrade the stock back up lights on my Ranger Z519 trailer because we launch in the dark for tournaments a lot. I was not let down. The new back up lights really help to see the ramp when it’s dark. Great product and you guys are great to work with. Than you. Ryan

@Ryan Ah, now I understand. I can also see how that would help a lot. There is someone on my team, Kate, who does a lot of fishing tournaments in our neck of the woods. I'll share this with her :)

@Ryan Usually I am the one recommending parts to someone, but you sold me on these lights Ryan! Definitely going to be adding some to the back on my Ranger as well. Now if you have a trick on getting people to turn their headlights off please fill me in =) Thanks for the heads up Gwen!

  • Reverse Lights for 2018 Ranger Bass Boat Trailer
Hi Gary; are you trying to replace existing lights or add standalone reverse lights onto your 2018 Ranger boat trailer? The GloLight LED Backup Light # BUL111CFPG is a single light, and measures 7-1/2" long x 3-5/16" tall x 1-1/8" thick. If you want tail lights that have reverse light functionality something like the # STL211XRFHB would be a better choice. Most of our lights like these are sold individually. Typically if it is a pair of lights we show two lights in the pictures. If you...

  • Which Optronics Utility Lighter is Brighter BUL28CLPB and BUL111CFPG
Hey Frank, while we don't have Lumen outputs for either light you mentioned I can assure you the part # BUL111CFPG is a lot brighter than the # BUL28CLPB. This is evident in the video reviews I attached on this page and the by the amperage draw difference between them both. The part # BUL28CLPB draws .054 amps whereas the part # BUL111CFPG draws .386 amps. That's 7 times more amps drawn. We don't have the black trim ring you are looking for either as we only have the chrome part # A78CB.

  • What Might Cause Surge Trailer Brakes to Apply When Driving
Hey Dean, that is a really odd problem to have when towing forward. It sounds like somehow your brake system is getting pressurized which is causing them to at least partially apply the trailer brakes. When towing forward I can't really determine what might cause this but maybe on a long shot is the trailer really nose down and it's pushing the actuator forward and applying the brakes slightly? You should be able to see the inner member of the actuator slide in as you lower it onto the...

  • Reverse Light & Wiring For Boat Trailer
So in order to add a reverse light to your boat trailer, all you need to do is connect the wiring from your junction box or 7-way directly to the reverse light's wires. For reverse lights, if you don't already have wiring at the junction box or your 7-way, what you can do is add 14 Gauge Primary Wire - Blue - per Foot # DW02414-1. Then you will simply run that wire to the reverse lights, which you can connect with butt connectors. The exact parts you will need to do this are the following: -...

  • Parts Needed to Add Back Up Lights & 7-Way Connector on Boat Trailer
We can get you set up to add back up lights and a 7-way to your boat trailer, and I'll go over what you'll need. Let's start with the back up lights, and for your boat trailer you'll want submersible lights like you said, the GloLight LED Backup Light for Truck or Trailer - Submersible # BUL111CFPG. This will use a 2-wire (power and ground) pigtail, either the Right Angle 2-Wire Pigtail # A49PB or 2-Wire Pigtail # A45CB. Then for added wire I recommend 16 Gauge # 16-1-1, which is sold...

  • Brighter Trailer Tail Lights to Replace Bargman 92 Series Tail Lights
There are brighter lights available for your current Bargman 92 Series lights, but none that have a reverse light function. So to replace your current lights with brighter LEDs you will need the LED Trailer Tail Light - Driver's Side # 328-003-81LM1 and LED Trailer Tail Light - Passenger Side # 328-003-81M1. That's the closest available for your mounting width, and I have added a link to a video install for you to check out. Additionally, you could just add separate reverse lights if...

  • Can Trailer Backup Lights Run On Reverse Lockout Circuit
It shouldn't be a problem to run backup lights on the same circuit as the reverse lockout, especially LED lights. You can use # 10-1-1 to run your additional wire. For lights, I recommend the GloLight LED Backup Light for Truck or Trailer # BUL111CFPG. These are sonically sealed and completely submersible. You will also need the # A45CB for installation.

  • Adding Reverse Lights And Junction Box To a Trailer Without Existing Reverse Lights And Wiring
You are correct, that is exactly how you would install that setup. To add reverse lights to your trailer from a 4 pole to a 7 pole on your 2017 Ram 1500 you are going to need a junction box with a 7 pole connector. I recommend is the Trailer Wiring 7-Way Upgrade Kit w/ Junction Box and RV Style Connector Item # HS381-9000. What makes this kit nice is the 7 pole plug comes with the junction box. You would just need to add your new reverse lights and wiring from the lights to the junction...

  • Can Loading Light Connect to Reverse Light Circuit on Cargo Trailer
You could definitely connect your light to the reverse light circuit on the 7-way. All you need to do is run some wire like # DW02412-1 back to the light and splice it in on the light side of the switch. I don't know of any specific lighting regulations that wouldn't allow this but it is hard to keep track of everything. It is always a good idea to check with MO Highway Patrol. For a nice bright light I recommend the GloLight LED Backup Light for Truck or Trailer # BUL111CFPG. The only...

  • Is There a Light Comparable to the GloLight LED Backup Light Without the Black Bezel
I have a solution for you, but the GloLight LED Backup Light # BUL111CFPG does not have a comparable light that has a chrome bezel. I would instead recommend looking at either the Fusion LED Trailer Tail Light # STL211RCB and the chrome bezel # A211CB1 which can be combined for the look you're seeking.

  • How Does Trailer Wiring Normally Wire a Reverse Light
The trailer wiring would have to be either a 5-way or 7-way as those are common styles that have the reverse light circuit available. It would just be a matter of running that circuit from the trailer wiring connector to the power wire of the light like the part # BUL111CFPG and then grounding the other wire.

  • Hitch Extensions and Utility Lights
While we do not sell hitch extenders for 2-1/2" receivers, we may have a solution for you. Since most hitch extenders will reduce your towing capacity (usually by 50%), a better alternative is to use a longer ball mount for getting the clearance you need for your tailgate. I've linked to a list of our 2" ball mounts since they have more range than 2-1/2" ball mounts. To use one of these with your 2-1/2" receiver, simply use the B&W Hitch Adapter, part # BWRHXA2182, which I've linked to...
