E-Z Lube-Compatible Assembly for Simple Lubrication

The grease cap on this hub-and-drum assembly is specially designed to work with your Dexter E-Z Lube axle to make lubricating bearings quick and easy. Just remove the plug on the grease cap, attach a grease gun to the zerk fitting on the end of the spindle, and inject the grease. It will flow easily to both inner and outer bearings. Not only does this make lubricating the bearings easy, but it also helps to prevent corrosion of the hub. This is because you can lubricate the bearings without the mess of taking apart the entire assembly.

Determining the Bolt Pattern

The first number in the bolt pattern is the number of bolt holes. The second number denotes the diameter, in inches, of the circle on which the bolt holes sit.

Bolt Pattern - Even

On wheels with an even number of bolt holes, measure from the center of one bolt hole to the center of the hole directly across from it. (Example: 8 on 6-1/2 means 8 bolt holes with 6-1/2" from the center of one hole to the center of another on the opposite side.)

Bolt Pattern - Odd

To determine the bolt-circle diameter on wheels with an odd number of bolt holes, measure from the center of any bolt hole to the point halfway between the two bolt holes directly across from the first. (Example: 5 on 4-1/2 means 5 bolt holes with 4-1/2" measured to a point halfway between the opposite bolt holes.)

Bolt Pattern - Side

Measuring the distance (D) from the center of one bolt hole on the wheel to the center of a bolt hole right next to it can also help to determine the bolt pattern.

  • If D = 2-5/8", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-1/2"
  • If D = 2-3/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-3/4"
  • If D = 3", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5"
  • If D = 3-1/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5-1/2"

thanks, nobody locally carries a complete hub, great price, quick delivery

by:

Perfect every time. Exact Dexter replacement parts.

by:

Grease cap damaged/unusable and this like dexter item dimensions are all different. So long as the wheels line up and the drum contacts the brakes pad properly I’ll let it ride. And the like new but missing parts drum is damaged and the bearing race is not seated

Year out review all is good and any issues resolved

by:

The overall product is excellent. One area of improvement could be the ez lube cap that attaches to the hub. This crushes very easy when try to install them leading to a distorted area for the rubber end cap to attach. The old ones where bullet proof. After crushing a few of the new ones I just put the old one back on .... promblem solved

by:

Perfect fit & easy installation.

by:

Everything I needed I found at etrailer and everything fit perfectly!! Customer service was excellent!!

by:

Five star. shipping was slow. Product was great 14 K 14 plies under 2000 pounds independent suspension. Low fast and sassy. Yep that’s how I build them.

by:

Thanks so much etrailer for making me feel so much better/safer about carrying heavier loads in my trailer. Katrina also went the extra mile when it came to customer service and patience with my order. I had 15" six lug hub and drum assembly which held all I could load on them, like I said I just did not feel safe so I went with this hub and drum assembly which came with all necessary items for the install, and it allowed me to put 16" tires with a heavier weight rating. Very pleased.

by:

This hub and drum assembly was very easy to install. The parts came pre-assembled and pre-greased. The kit came with all the necessary hardware and even included extra hardware depending on the axle type. Fast shipping and straightforward customer service. Very much appreciated.

by:

Outer bearing #14125A was damaged. Notified Davine at etrailer and emailed her a picture of the damaged bearing. Currently awaiting a response. Everything else in the package was ok.

by:

Packed well ,pre greased, all parts for different axles easy install

by:

Great product and exact replacement for our 42ft Keystone Montana High Country 375FL.
Fast shipping and correct part is extremely important as we are full time RVers and with limited time.
I've ordered several items over the years and always received great service.

Just as advertised

These guy's at etrailer are hard to beat! Customer care is over the top. That's why Allison Creek does business with etrailer.

by:

Great people to work with and fast deli very!

by:

Fast and easy ordering

by:

Showed up quick and fit great.

by:

I ordered this as spare hub assembly for my 5th Wheel RV. We are leaving next month on a 5000+ mile, 3 month trip. I figure if I have a bearing go bad I can swap out the whole hub and be back on the road in no time. The hub is the same Dexter hub that I have on my rig now.
Shipping was fast and free, Helen was great, helping me find the part numbers of some of the other accessories that I needed to have spares of. Speaking of shipping I had checked other places for the hub and while the price was similar the freight charges were half the price of the hub. I will definitely be giving trailer my business going forward.

GREAT SERVICE

by:

So far so good. Good customer service, boxes were not damaged and arrived within a couple days. Genuine dexter parts and they also helped swapped a backordered part.

FAST SHIPPING

by:

This is exactly what I need for an on-the-road repair! I ordered a second because I had a wheel-lug issue on I-95, and this kit got me rolling again! Thanks for offering a very complete setup at a great price. Finally, the free shipping is EXCELLENT! With some vendors "free shipping" means "you will receive it sometime next year." Not etrailer.com! Thanks!

The one thing I would change is us FEDEX and not UPS. Packing was ripped open. happens every time I get anything from UPS

by:

I love ordering from etrailer. They have a great team. The brake assemblies and hubs arrived on time and the installation was easy. The only negative was one of the drum assemblies arrived with a crushed seal and the outer bearing cage was bent up. I know etrailer would have sent replacement parts but do to time constraints I made a trip to our local trailer parts store. $20 later and a little time I was back to work. There was no damage to the box. The bag with the bearings and seal in it got to where it could get damaged by the weight of the drum.

by:

Was great that the trailer hub and drum included new pressed in races with bearings, grease seal, nut and keeper. The convenience of having everything in one package saves you the hassle trying to look up and order these components separately.

Likewise, the trailer brake assemblies. take old assy off, put new one on w 5 bolts. Glad the instructions included proper torque spec. Else - how would you know?
Had to lightly sand slight bevel (1/64 ") at outer edge of each brake shoe. Drum fit quite tight or wouldn't fit at all w/o slight edge bevel to allow you to get it started.

You can add a heavier axle to the trailer but the rest of the components of your trailer may not be rated for a higher weight capacity such as the suspension components and wheels. If you go from a 3,500 lb axle to a 7,000 lb axle like part # 8327834 you are not going to be able to keep your wheels because more than likely the bearings in the hubs that fit your wheels will not fit the spindle of the new axle. The only issue I'm running into is that there are no hubs with a 5 on 4 1/2 bolt pattern that fit this axle. • How to Fix a Trailer Leaning Heavily to One Side
The reason your trailer is heavily leaning to one side is because of the way it's loaded. From the picture, it appears that you have much more equipment on the right side than you do the left side. First, thanks for all that detailed information, it was very helpful. And we can get you parts for your trailer, though the issue is that there isn't an available hub for your spindle due to what you mentioned - the uncommon 501349 bearing, which is for older agricultural spindles. There also isn't a 7,000 lb-rated hub with a 6 on 5-1/2" bolt pattern to go with your 7k-rated Dexter Nev-R-Adjust Electric Trailer Brake Assembly # 23-464 and # 23-465. • Dexter 7,000 lb Axle Hub and Brake Assembly Recommendation
Does the spindle look damaged at all? Sometimes bearings can be a pretty tight fit to the spindle but there should be enough clearance to allow the bearing to slip on without needing too much effort. For Dexter 7k axles the bearing surfaces should measure 1.74 and 1.25. You'd want to make sure your spindle matches those diameters. Chances are the spindle may have gotten deformed from overheating and now it's not perfectly round.

The bigger issue you should be considering is if you are exceeding the weight capacity of your trailer. If you are bending and braking axles that are designed for the weight capacity of your trailer you most likely are exceeding the trailer capacity and going to a higher capacity axle would simply allow something else to be the weakest link.
