E-Z Lube-Compatible Assembly for Simple Lubrication

The grease cap on this hub-and-drum assembly is specially designed to work with your Dexter E-Z Lube axle to make lubricating bearings quick and easy. Just remove the plug on the grease cap, attach a grease gun to the zerk fitting on the end of the spindle, and inject the grease. It will flow easily to both inner and outer bearings. Not only does this make lubricating the bearings easy, but it also helps to prevent corrosion of the hub. This is because you can lubricate the bearings without the mess of taking apart the entire assembly.

Determining the Bolt Pattern

The first number in the bolt pattern is the number of bolt holes. The second number denotes the diameter, in inches, of the circle on which the bolt holes sit.

Bolt Pattern - Even

On wheels with an even number of bolt holes, measure from the center of one bolt hole to the center of the hole directly across from it. (Example: 8 on 6-1/2 means 8 bolt holes with 6-1/2" from the center of one hole to the center of another on the opposite side.)

Bolt Pattern - Odd

To determine the bolt-circle diameter on wheels with an odd number of bolt holes, measure from the center of any bolt hole to the point halfway between the two bolt holes directly across from the first. (Example: 5 on 4-1/2 means 5 bolt holes with 4-1/2" measured to a point halfway between the opposite bolt holes.)

Bolt Pattern - Side

Measuring the distance (D) from the center of one bolt hole on the wheel to the center of a bolt hole right next to it can also help to determine the bolt pattern.

  • If D = 2-5/8", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-1/2"
  • If D = 2-3/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-3/4"
  • If D = 3", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5"
  • If D = 3-1/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5-1/2"

thanks, nobody locally carries a complete hub, great price, quick delivery

by:

Perfect every time. Exact Dexter replacement parts.

by:

Good product. Really like the install and go idea. I had 2 issues with new hub on my trailer. One, once the axle nut was installed, with the washer provided or my old washer, the cut out for cotter key on nut didn't line up with cotter key hole on axle. If I went
to next opening, way too tight, if I went out, way too loose. I ended up using a thin washer and that worked great. Second issue, the dust cap. I have put many many dust caps on in the past, but this thing was near impossible. It was the solid one provided. Ended up denting it trying.
I then tried the hole in the center one provided, Same thing. Would not not fit easily. I finally did get solid one in but it's all dented up! Wouldn't hurt my feelings if you could send me a new solid style dust cap? Overall good purchase and e-trailer in general is an awesome place to purchase trailer stuff!!! Thanks for your continued professionalism!

by:

Good quality and well made. Easy installation and it was a perfect replacement.

by:

I got them in on time I had to go with these more expensive ones otherwise I would’ve had to wait until August to get the other ones I wanted. I think the only difference are it’s got washers and nut. otherwise, it would have got a five star.

by:

Dexter assy.(or a darn good dup) all needed keepers nuts and pin included. Well greased. Will purchase again

by:

Grease cap damaged/unusable and this like dexter item dimensions are all different. So long as the wheels line up and the drum contacts the brakes pad properly I’ll let it ride. And the like new but missing parts drum is damaged and the bearing race is not seated

Year out review all is good and any issues resolved

by:

Everything is intact, already packed. Just gives peace of mind to have extra drum with the bearings.

by:

Pulled right from the box and slapped it on. Multiple options for dust cover and locking the nut on the spindle which is nice. Now I have options. Like the multiple washers and nuts for multiple different axle types. Liked the Dexter made in USA. Everything was great will buy again.

by:

Arrived well packaged but a day late after paying for fastest shipping in which was just as much as the part cost.

by:

Thanks so much etrailer for making me feel so much better/safer about carrying heavier loads in my trailer. Katrina also went the extra mile when it came to customer service and patience with my order. I had 15" six lug hub and drum assembly which held all I could load on them, like I said I just did not feel safe so I went with this hub and drum assembly which came with all necessary items for the install, and it allowed me to put 16" tires with a heavier weight rating. Very pleased.

by:

Works as needed. Only issue is getting grease caps on, frustrating installing these.

by:

Jeremy was amazing! He put the order together quick and got it processed in a timely manner. Would order from Etrailer again.

by:

Sara, was very helpful and very professional.
Answered
all my questions.

by:

They are very good

by:

All parts were there. No problem to ins tall.

by:

Outer bearing #14125A was damaged. Notified Davine at etrailer and emailed her a picture of the damaged bearing. Currently awaiting a response. Everything else in the package was ok.

by:

Great customer service Lauren took great care of me and my product showed up as promised!!

by:

Five star. shipping was slow. Product was great 14 K 14 plies under 2000 pounds independent suspension. Low fast and sassy. Yep that’s how I build them.

by:

The delivery speed was excellent-One hub box was tore up and retaped but I think everything was there!

by:

Great product and exact replacement for our 42ft Keystone Montana High Country 375FL.
Fast shipping and correct part is extremely important as we are full time RVers and with limited time.
I've ordered several items over the years and always received great service.

by:

Great service and product. So easy that my 16year old grandson did the repairs on the 6 horse trailer!

by:

Great work

by:

Everything I needed I found at etrailer and everything fit perfectly!! Customer service was excellent!!

by:

Everything fits perfectly, and I got exactly what I needed. However, the boxes were a bit banged up. One of the drum boxes was severely damaged, but I’m relieved that the bearings were not affected.

  • Replacement Axle, Brake Assemblies, And Hubs And Drums For M1101 Trailer
Based on my research your M1101 trailer has a GVWR of around 3400lbs, so for a replacement axle I recommend taking a look at the Timbren Heavy-Duty Axle-Less Trailer Suspension - Straight Spindle - Off-Road Tires - 3,500 lbs # ASR35HDS01 which will bolt to the frame of your trailer and replace your current axle and suspension setup. The # ASR35HDS01 is designed for wide off-road tires meaning it would give you the extra clearance you need to run the typical wide off-road tires found on...

  • What Is The Difference Between 7K Hub/Drums From etrailer And Dexter?
Hi Phil! The main difference between the etrailer Easy Grease Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly # AKHD-865-7-2-EZ-K and the Dexter Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly # 42866UC3-EZ is where they are made. Ours are made over seas and Dexter hubs are made here in America. The etrailer option is less expensive though. Other than that, they are both for 5,200 to 7,000 pound axles, use the same # 25580 inner bearing and # 14125A outer bearing, use the same # GS-2250DL seal, have 1/2" studs, are pre-greased,...

  • Replacement Hub/Drum and Brake Assemblies for 6k Hub with 8 Lug Bolt Pattern
Hey Tom, we have the correct hub/drum you are looking for with the part # 42866UC3-EZ if you have 1/2 inch wheel studs or the part # 8-219-13UC3 for if you have 9/16 inch diameter studs. Then for brake assemblies you'd just need the part # AKEBRK-7-SA for a set of a left and a right and you'd be set. Basically the 5.2k and up to 7k axles use the same brake components which is why the parts I mentioned say they fit that range of axle capacity.

  • Can I Upgrade Trailer Axle From 3,500 lb to 7,000 lb Axle and Keep 14 Wheels
You can add a heavier axle to the trailer but the rest of the components of your trailer may not be rated for a higher weight capacity such as the suspension components and wheels. If you go from a 3,500 lb axle to a 7,000 lb axle like part # 8327834 you are not going to be able to keep your wheels because more than likely the bearings in the hubs that fit your wheels will not fit the spindle of the new axle. • How Tight Should Trailer Bearings Be When Installing on a Spindle
Trailer bearings can fit pretty tight to the spindle, but they would not ever need to get pressed on. They should not be so tight that you have to really pound on them to fit but they can require a little bit of effort to get them to slide onto the spindle. When installed there should be no play between the inner surface of the bearing and the spindle. I have attached a link to a video that shows how to remove and reinstall trailer hub components you can check out.

Hey Jerry, thanks for reaching out. I can help point you in the right direction, but the VIN doesn't do much good in this case because there isn't a universal database for trailers like there is for motor vehicles. • How to Fix a Trailer Leaning Heavily to One Side
The reason your trailer is heavily leaning to one side is because of the way it's loaded. Unfortunately, you really only have two options to fix the problem which would be to either reorganize how equipment is loaded on the trailer or replace the suspension components with...

Does the spindle look damaged at all? Sometimes bearings can be a pretty tight fit to the spindle but there should be enough clearance to allow the bearing to slip on without needing too much effort. For Dexter 7k axles the bearing surfaces should measure 1.74 and 1.25. You'd want to make sure your spindle matches those diameters. Chances are the spindle may have gotten deformed from overheating and now it's not perfectly round.
