Rollers replaced same make/model rollers on my boat trailer that is 25 years old. My boat weighs around 6k lbs. The old ones held up very well for 25 years and I hope these replacements will do as well.

this item was a tough one to put in. We have to launch the boat first and then work on getting the roller on. As you might guess, the rods holding the old rollers were rusted and could not just uncrew the nuts and bolts. had to find a cut off wheel to do the job and get new bolts and nuts. shop can do all this in 30 mins, we took three hours, but great product, it works

A piece of 1" galvanized pipe about 10" long inserted in the roller after removing (then re-installing) one end cap will greatly strengthen the roller.

We used the rollers to construct a boat ramp to pull our pontoon boat out of the water in the winter. We used about 36 of them and placed them at 3 ft. intervals and it worked perfectly . Very good product and at a fraction of the cost at other places.

Is There a Weight Rating for the Yates Keel Roller
Hey SC, so a keel roller like the Yates # YR12000 doesn't have a weight rating because it's not meant to bear the full weight of the boat. They're only meant to protect the keel of the boat from hitting into anything on the trailer. What kind of boat are you hauling? I actually used to build boats in a past life, so I'd be interested in hearing what you got! Feel free to drop a comment if you'd like!

Replacement for 11-1/4" Keel Roller with Shaft and End Caps
The best size replacement keel roller we have is the Yates Keel Roller for Boat Trailers part # YR12000 for black, part # YR1200B for blue, or part # YR1200Y for yellow which all measure 11-3/4" long with a 5/8" diameter shaft. The correct size roller shaft and end caps to use with these rollers is the Roller Shaft with Pal Nuts part # CE10727A which measures 13" long though can be trimmed down. Differences between Yates Keel Rollers # YR12000 and # YR12244-125EC
There is a slight difference in the center channel width between keel rollers # YR12000 and # YR12244-125EC. Otherwise they have the exact same specs. The more narrow center channel on YR12244-125EC means more rubber is used and thus would cost more. It also has a slightly larger diameter, 3-3/4 inches, compared to # YR12000 at 3-3/8 inches.

Tips for Removing Pal Nuts from a Boat Trailer Roller Shaft
It sounds like you have pal nuts, such as # 408600. They may or may not be seized on the shaft. Some penetrating oil and gentle prying should be all you need to get them to come off of the shaft. Using pliers or a similar tool could make the nut tighter on the shaft.

Where to Measure to Pick Out Replacement Rollers for a Boat Trailer

The only type of roller we have that fits a 1-1/4" shaft is the Yates Ribbed Wobble Roller # YA72FR. You can replace your rollers with the CE Smith Deep V Keel Roller Assembly # CE10455G. This 12" roller uses a 5/8" shaft and has a non-marking thermo-plastic rubber construction for increased life.

7-3/8 and 11-3/8 Inch Keel Rollers for a Caulkins Boat Trailer
There are some common size rollers found on boat trailers but really they can be just about any size. Roller # YR8000 has an overall length of 7-3/4 inches so it would fit in the 7-7/8 inch spacing. It fits on a 5/8 inch diameter shaft # CE10725A. Roller # YR12000 is actually 11-3/4 inches long and so it would fit the 11-7/8 spacing of your brackets. At the narrowest spot in the center, the Yates Rubber # YR12000 Keel Roller is 2-1/4 inches in diameter. At the ends which is the thickest part of the roller, the diameter is 3-5/16 of an inch. For a panel-style mounting bracket, use # CE10305G and for a roller shaft and pal nuts, use # CE10727A.

They're meant to protect the keel of the boat from hitting into anything on the trailer. If you're bending the roller shaft, then the roller is sitting up too high or you need to raise the bunks so that not so much weight is resting on the roller.
