Ryan: Hey everybody, my name's Ryan. And here at Etrailer, we install, test fit, and review a lot of different parts, that way we could try to answer any questions those of you might have. And that's exactly what we're doing here today. We're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install the line of Yates heavy duty rubber Y-style bow stops for boat trailers. So a bow stop is a simple, yet pretty important component to have on your boat trailer. It's going to do a couple things.
It's going to help prevent you from overshooting whenever you put your boat back on the trailer, whenever you pull it out of the water. And it's also going to help provide just a little bit of support, a little bit of cushion here in the front, whenever you're towing your boat down the road, that way it's not getting jostled around and hitting any metal, anything like that. It's just going to be there to help keep everything riding nice and smooth. So the reason today that we actually replaced the bow stop is you could take a quick look at the original one, and easily tell that it has seen better days. I mean, this thing is so worn out. It probably really wasn't doing any good up here.
So this one is definitely an improvement, and should make things go a little bit smoother. Now with that being said, this is a really thick, heavy duty rubber. So I don't really see it wearing out super fast. So you should get some good years out of it. With that being said, though, this rubber could potentially leave scuffs.
On this old aluminum fishing boat, really not too concerned with it, but if you have a fiberglass boat, especially, for example, it's something you might want to think about. However, there's another bow stop available, and this one's made from a different material and is scuff proof. So if leaving marks here are something you really don't want, you could always use this as an alternative, and that'll prevent any scuffs from happening. So overall, I actually think this turned out pretty nice. Just give me a little bit more confidence whenever I'm trailering the boat, I'm not going to have to worry about overshooting it as much or anything like that. And just whenever I'm trailering it down the road, the rubber actually contours pretty nicely to the bottom of the boat when you tighten everything down.So it should really provide a good cushion, if you will, whenever I am hitting bumps and things like that.
And just going to do a good job of keeping everything in place. Now, as far as the installation goes, it's relatively simple, really not a whole lot involved. One thing I do want to mention is you may have to pick up some new hardware. Doesn't come included with that hardware. But if your original hardware will work and is in good shape, by all means, you can go ahead and reuse that.So with all that being said, shouldn't take you a whole lot of time and really give you a whole lot of issues whenever you do go to put this on. Speaking of which, let's go ahead and do that together now. To begin your installation, you're first going to want to remove your old stop. So I went ahead and took that off and what I've actually done is just removed the whole bracket itself. And I did that because I think it'll be a little bit easier to get everything set up on here and kind of pushed into place.Ideally, you do this with your boat off the trailer. We're just kind of working around that. So I think it's going to be a little bit easier if I have everything somewhat bolted together, I might have a little more leverage to kind of push this up into place. Now, with that being said, keep in mind, every setup is going to be a little bit different. But for the most part, this should get you pointed in the right direction. So at this point, I'm just going to take our new stop, put it in our bracket, line the holes up. And I'm going to take our bolt, work it through to the other side. And what I think I'm going to do, is just tighten this down a little bit. So once I find where it needs to be, once it's on there, we can come back and tighten our bolt down. So now that we have our setup loosely assembled, I'll go ahead and put it into place here. Again, I think I'm just going to get everything hand tight for now, that way it'll kind of just rest in position, and we can get it exactly where we want it. So I found that everything fit best with our bracket down as far as it can go. And now I can position our bow stop. Now our boat is on the trailer a little bit crooked, once I removed our strap it kind of came over. So this should sit more in the center, but I think once we put our strap back on it, it'll pull everything together nicely. But now I got a good idea on how I need to rotate our bow stop itself. So I'm going to kind of eyeball it. I think about there will be proper, then I'm going to snug it down. So now that we have everything tight, if I put a little bit of downward pressure, it looks like everything fits pretty good the way it should. So now that I'm certain I have it lined up where I want, I'm just going to go ahead and connect my winch back to it, and pull it back down on the trailer. That'll finish up our look at and our installation of the line of Yates Y-style heavy duty rubber bow stops for boat trailers..

Hi,
I am very happy with etrailer's overall transaction.
The price was reasonable, and a tracking page was provided.
Although I did not use it for it's intended purpose, it worked well for me.

Its still in very good shape for being a year since I bought it in very good product.
Easy to purchase and easy to use. Thank you
The only place I order trailer, boat and RV parts is from etrailer great service
Exactly what I needed. Description is awesome
All of these are working out really well. I especially like the Fulton spare tire carrier, mounted on the trailer tongue towards the front---gives about 1.5 inches of clearance between the boat and the mounted spare tire. The adjustable height of the mounting arm was really a nice feature for my application. I've use Lubrimatic marine grease for years, and expect long life from this brand. The Bow Stop has the perfect angle to receive the bow of my 1970 classic Glastron Futura V 153, and so far appears to be non-marring to the finish of the boat. Very happy with all of these items!

After a year of service exposed to the weather and direct sunlight, the bow stop is working well, conforms perfectly with the bow V, and so far doesnt appear to leave any marks on the fiberglass. Good product!!
Have on other boat trailer too, should come as standard equipment on vee hulls. Get one
I have a 12 foot V hull aluminum fishing boat.
I bought the boat and trailer at a great discount. Now I’m trying to fix up the trailer to make it fully functional. These bunk rollers work perfectly as stated. The bow stop was very simple to install and it does exactly what it supposed to do.
The products are very well-built. They fit my trailer exactly. Shipping was prompt, communication was excellent.
I have not launch my boat yet as I have other projects to do but I am convinced it will launch and retrieve very easily due to the new rollers and now stop!
The replacement part I ordered was delivered in good order, and it works perfectly. I would definitely order from etrailer.com again.

Just fine
Hi quality for a great price. Overhauled my Boat Trailer rollers, bearings, bunks, wiring and more. I usually shop parts like this on Ebay, Amazon...etc..
Etrailer beat all of their prices, and with free shipping on my $99+ order, the deal got even sweeter. Got my parts in 3 days and had the job done in the next 2 days. All parts fit perfectly and my trailer is like new.
This is my second order from etrailer. As we all know it's "always something" with anything marine related. They have earned my business. Thanks..!!
I like this company. I replaced all of the rollers, the keel roller and the bow stops on my boat trailer. Their service was fast, the products all of high quality, and am their web site made it easy for me to pick the right items since I am not an expert. Getting the rust frozen clips out of the trolleys was no picnic but Kroil and Blaster helped a little. Saved me the money for a new trailer. It looks great and rollers actually roll!
I have an old MacGregor Venture 17 trailer and the bow stop mount is welded on, making it difficult to adjust for other styles of bow stops that are not as thick at the base and leave a big gap to the bow of the boat that is not easy to close up. This big beefy bow stop must be very similar to what was originally on the trailer because it fits perfectly and no more big gap between the boat's bow and the bow stop, so I can get the bow snug without much force or strain on the tow eye.
The bow bumper on my boat broke and I searched around for a new one online. Lots of websites claimed they had the product, but on closer examination that didn't prove to be true. I went to etrailer.com and they had exactly what I needed. I should have gone there first. This is my third transaction with etrailer. They have what I need, at a reasonable cost, and they send my merchandise out in a timely manner so I can get the project I'm working on completed. I highly recommend etrailer and their staff. They have what you need in stock, and they let you know what's going on. A 5-star company all the way.
Very good quality and arrived quickly and on time. Fit perfectly because of the informative videos provided with each product description.
Exactly what I was looking for. Matched the part on my trailer that I had to replace. Shipping time quick and with out a hitch!
Thank you.
I needed to replace this rubber stopper on my her ski trailer! It was easy to find on etrailer.com! And the price was reasonable compared to other sites! Will buy from etrailer again!
I have ordered several items from etrailer and each time I received a quality product as advertised at a fair price and all arrived on time or early. I recommend them as a go to online retailer.
I bought this product for a refit of my Trail-Rite boat trailer used to haul my Catalina 25 foot sailboat. I am pleased with the bow stop that I received, it was exactly as described. The entire process was smooth and quick. Thank you
Great winch. Bolted right on my 1985 Shorelander trailer with no modification. It has been on my trailer for one year outside in all Ohio weather and still looks and operates like brand new.
It was the exact part I needed and fit perfectly.
Good price and came quicker than I expected.
Good job.

This is still the best bow-stop we’ve used. Still going strong on a boat that’s trailered several times each week.
