Built-In Battery Charger and Tester
The integrated charger keeps the included battery charged and ready to go. At any time, if you would like to see what the state of the rechargeable battery is, just push the green button and LEDs will light up to indicate the battery's status. If it's green, it means the battery is fully charged. Yellow shows it's currently charging, and red indicates a low battery.
Quick Tips:
When you store your trailer, be sure to keep the pin plugged into the breakaway switch. If the pin's removed for an extended period of time, dirt and moisture can get into the switch and cause corrosion that could keep it from activating when you need it.
A breakaway system needs to be able to apply the trailer brakes fully for at least 15 minutes. In general, the heavier your trailer, the higher amperage battery you'll need for the breakaway.

Product looks well made and installed with just one hitch. If you follow instructions and try to connect the 2 wires, one from the breakaway switch and one from the push to test panel using the supplied connector to the positive post of the battery, you can't close the lid of the battery box properly . It hits the electronics on the inside of the lid. You need to do your own splice ( 2 wires into 1 onto the + post . Not a big deal, but certainly a slight screw up by the manufacture. 512342

heavy duty box , extra material in the mounting are ( other box from a different supplier I had this was weak point & broke mounting ears off not purchased off this site ) - comes fully charge - this should last a long time . This is an important safety item , should not be

The item arrived bashed up, the box was torn open, no hardware. Must've been the order prep person's first day to think that a flimsy box would stand up to the mighty throwers of the USPS. I can't say how the product works because I have to go buy mounting hardware. Never again. 3418977

This would have been perfect if it would have fit in where the like one was being replaced. It requires new holes to be drilled and all of the splicing is external to the box requiring additional equipment to protect the spicing 1760226

Hi Eric; the Curt Push-To-Test Trailer Breakaway Kit with Built-In Battery Charger # C52044 will work for your triple axle Kaufmann trailer. This is designed for 1 to 3 axle trailers with electric brakes so triple axle isn't a problem. As long as you have 12V power running to the connector the built-in charger will do a fine job. It sounds like the interior lights on your trailer are powered through the 12 volt circuit on your Ford's 7-way. So, start by testing to make sure that pin is active. On a standard RV style 7-way, this is located at the 1 o'clock position. I've attached a diagram for visual reference. Using a tester like # PK12741 would be the easiest.

No, you do not need to have an auxiliary battery on the trailer in order for the brakes to work. The brakes are powered by a brake controller like part # C74VV which draws power from the tow vehicle's battery, not the trailer's battery. The only triple axle disc brake kits currently offered all have 1/2" wheel studs so we will need to piece a kit together for you.
I recommend the Kodiak Disc Brake Kit - 13" Hub/Rotor - 8 on 6-1/2 - E-Coat - 7,000 lbs # K2HR79E which will fit the 7000lb Dexter axles you have, and gives you the 9/16" studs you mentioned. Since you have 3 axles you will need 3 of these kits.
