Video Transcript for A Closer Look at the Roadmaster Falcon 3HD Tow Bar for Blue Ox Base Plates

Hi, this is Scott with etrailer. Today we're taking a look at the Roadmaster Falcon 3HD tow bar. The Roadmaster Falcon 3HD tow bar is gonna be a really heavy duty design. This one's gonna be 10,000 pounds capable heavy duty tow bar, so it's gonna hold up to a lot of your heavy towing needs, like we have here for our F-150. This one's gonna be a non-binding system, so when you're done towing down the road, even if you're at a little bit of an angle or some uneven terrain and you wanna unhook, all you have to do is release these handles and it's gonna release for you nice and easy with no problems at all. Some of your tow bars will bind up, and the nice thing about this is it won't.

It can be a pain when you're having to wrestle with trying to get this unhooked. Sometimes you even have to take a hammer and tap the tow bar in order to get it to unlock and unhook. Right out of the box, this tow bar's gonna be set up to fit your Blue Ox style base plates. Now, if you have a different base plate, there are different attachments available that you can have set up, so you can still use this tow bar. One of the things I really like about this tow bar set up is it's gonna have these built-in cable guides and it allows your cables to run inside this channel.

And what's nice about that is it's gonna allow you to be able to keep your cables from dragging on the ground. And another thing it's good for is when you do unhook and you wanna stow away your tow bar, you'd be able to keep your cables right in with that, so everything's all together. Another nice thing I like about this one, it's gonna be self-locking. So when you do hook this up, and to get it all pinned together, all you have to do is jump in your RV and pull forward. And these are gonna lock in place so you don't have to do any other messing around with these at all.

Now, all we have to do to stow this away, because we'll get our hooks off on both sides, and we're gonna undo our pins. And once we have those unhooked, all we have to do is unlock our arms, bring those in. (arms clanging) Now with those in, all we have to do is lift up our bar, bring those together, and it'll attach right there, clicks in place. Now, with this stowed away, one of the things you can do is you can move this to either side, whichever side you'd like to stow it away on. Now, say on this side we have our ladder, and you don't want that, buy that, all you have to do, just lift it up and flip it up over to the other side, and you can stow it away on this side.

Now, another good option for these is there are tow bar covers available for this one. I believe Roadmaster has one, and you can also take a look at the one that we have here at etrailer. Either one of those are really good options. Another nice thing about this setup is right out of the box, it is gonna come with your pin and clip, so you're all set up to go flat towing. If you have any questions or comments about this tow bar for your flat tow setup, you can always leave a question or comment down below in the comment section, or you can get ahold of one of our experts here at etrailer. They'd love to help you out. Now, this was a look at the Roadmaster Falcon 3HD. I'm Scott with etrailer. Thanks for watching.

  • Correct Adapter for Roadmaster Falcon 3HD Tow Bar Connecting to Blue Ox Base Plate
Hey Russel! Instead of getting an additional adapter for the Falcon 3HD you can actually use the Roadmaster Falcon 3HD Tow Bar for Blue Ox Base Plates # RM67QX. This comes ready to go with the Blue Ox base plate adapters instead of the Roadmaster so there won't be an additional cost. Any big trips coming up with your motorhome?

  • Where to Get Blue Ox Tow Bar Inspected
Hi Ken; that doesn't sound like a good time at all. Are you sure you want to get another Blue Ox tow bar? Although it isn't incredibly frequent, we hear stories like yours far more often with Blue Ox. I would consider getting a Roadmaster tow bar designed for your Blue Ox base plate like the Roadmaster Falcon 3HD # RM67QX instead. As far as inspections are concerned, you can either take it by a local RV shop that is familiar with tow bars or send it off to the manufacturer if you're really...
