Speaker 1: Today we're going to take a look at the Roadmaster tow bar to Blue Ox base plates adapters. Now this part will adapt your Roadmaster's Blackhawk, Falcon, or Sterling tow bars to Blue Ox base plate brackets. They will work on the Sterling tow bars with serial numbers up to 14,500. Now if the serial number on your Sterling tow bar is higher, then you need to use the part number RM-031-5, which we do sell separately on our website.Now this part will include these two pieces, one for each arm of the tow bar. Basically what happens is right here, this bolt will go through the arm of the tow bar, and then this bracket here with the pin and clip, you would slide out your clip and your pin. And then this bracket will attach to the Blue Ox base plate brackets, and once they slide in there, you just slide your pin through.
And then put your clip on there like that, and it will hold it in to place.It does include the two swivel ears, the two base pins and clips, the two Allen head shoulder bolts, four plastic washers, two metal washers, and then two lock nuts. And it does have a nice detailed set of instructions on how to install it. And these parts are made in the USA. But that should do it for the review on the Roadmaster tow bar to Blue Ox base plates adapter.

Exactly as described. I chose this adapter bracket from Roadmaster over the adapter bracket from Blue Ox (although it looks like beefier metal) because it is a solid piece of metal instead of the Blue Ox that is welded (and more expensive). Probably both are fine. Also I figured it would fit the Falcon Roadmaster tow bar exactly, and with accurate instructions, since it is made by Roadmaster. (Again, the Blue Ox one would probably be fine too.) So I have used the instructions and assembled the adapter brackets and it appears to be fine. I will now need to get a torque wrench.

I have some options for you! I recommend the Blue Ox baseplate part # BX2141 if your Ford Explorer is a limited edition Explorer. If it is not a limited edition, you will need part # BX2119. Please keep in mind the owner's manual of this vehicle requires a "neutral tow kit" from the dealership before flat towing behind a motorhome. I recommend the etrailer SD Non-Binding Tow Bar part # e47ZR which is designed to work with the Blue Ox base plate and features a non-binding trigger to easily release the tension when disconnecting the tow bar. There are many other components needed to flat your 1998 Ford Explorer such as: wiring, a supplemental braking system and a high low adapter so please let me know if you need anything else.

We've had a Roadmaster Falcon 2 towbar for several years and now have a Cadillac SRX with a Blue Ox baseplate. Purchased these to adapt the car to the towbar and they work perfect. They arrived quickly and were easy to install. Well-made product and highly recommended. Leave it to etrailer to always have the solution.

I ordered these on line from etrailer.com because I had purchased a used vehicle that came with a Blue Ox system already attached but I have been using a Falcon 2 bar for years. They made a very inexpensive option for my scenario. It would have cost hundreds of dollars to put a Roadmaster system on the car. My only complaint is that the clevis pins pop out very easily. For safety, I will secure them with zip-ties before each trip (cheap insurance).

These adapters work perfect, quick and easy to install. After a year of regular use with a Falcon tow bar pulling our Chevy Sonic with the Blue Ox tow plate all. is well.

The tabs for Blue Ox base plate fit perfect. The adapter fit to the tabs very nicely, but the swivel ear, where it attaches to the tow bar was too wide, 1 1/2" and the shaft on my towbar needs only 7/8". The directions say a round nut should screw on the shaft and fill the space, but there isn't any threads on the towbar shaft. I talked to a very nice lady, at Etrailers help number, about the problem, and she said, that Roadmaster says it's ok, and so does DOT, to snugly fill in the gap with grade 8 washers.

They say that a company is only as good as its employees... Well, etrailer is extremely fortunate to have someone like Shawn B. Working for them! This young lady got me out of a really frustrating predicament, and through careful listening and asking the right questions, she saved me not only a ton of money, but a whole bunch of frustration as well! My dilemma was that I had purchased a Jeep Liberty with a Blue Ox base plate, but I had a Blackhawk 2 tow bar! I thought I was going to have to go out and buy a Blue Ox tow bar to use with the Blue Ox base plate, but through careful review of my situation, and a calm analytical approach, this young lady determined exactly what I needed in the way of adapters and a towing light set up! Today, more than ever, it's all about customer service, and that is exactly what she provided for me!

We sold our toad vehicle that had a Roadmaster base plate system. We kept our Roadmaster Falcon tow bar in anticipation of equipping our new toad vehicle with a Roadmaster base plate. When we found our new toad we were surprised to find it already had a Blue Ox base plate. These adapters allowed me to use my tow bar and connect to the Blue Ox on the car. Took less than 5 minutes to install and saved me from having to buy a new tow bar. $80 for the adapters versus $500 for a new tow bar - great value!!
