Driving after dark shouldn’t mean guessing where your tow bar is. The Roadmaster Nighthawk All-Terrain lights up its own arms with built-in LED strips powered through the included electrical cord. When you plug into your RV’s 7-way and switch on the taillights, the LEDs glow automatically. They make the whole towing setup visible to others and help you see what you’re doing when you arrive late to camp. It’s safety and convenience all in one—no separate switches or wiring needed.

Even when the ground isn’t level, connecting and disconnecting stays simple. The stainless-steel inner arms telescope from 40-1/2" to 52" so you can line up one side at a time. They self-align and lock automatically as you pull forward. When it’s time to unhook, just lift the non-binding levers to release any pressure. The rust-proof finish keeps the arms sliding smoothly year after year, no hammering or wrestling required.

Getting in and out of gas stations or tight campground lanes is easier when your tow bar gives you more room to maneuver. The Nighthawk’s extra-long arms provide a wider turning radius, helping your towed vehicle track cleanly behind without clipping corners or curbs. More clearance means less stress when navigating close quarters.
No more dragging or tangled cords. The built-in cable guides route the included power cord and safety cables right along the arms, keeping everything organized and off the pavement. Vinyl-coated cables resist corrosion, and spring-loaded latches keep the hooks secure. When you’re parked, everything stores together neatly on the back of the RV—ready for the next trip.

At only 35 lbs, this 8,000-lb-rated tow bar is easy to handle but built to take the miles. Its aircraft-grade aluminum body resists rust, and the black matte powder coat keeps it looking sharp while protecting against dings. Roadmaster’s Finite Elemental Analysis testing ensures every stress point is reinforced, so you can tow heavy loads with long-term confidence.
Flat towing can be a much more convenient way to take your car RVing with you than using a trailer or a tow dolly. It'll save you storage space both at home and at the campsite, and it takes less time and hassle to hook up.
To flat tow your vehicle, there are 5 basic components you're going to need: a tow bar, a base plate kit, a safety cable set, tow bar wiring, and a flat tow braking system.
| For the RV | Between the RV and Towed Car | For the Towed Car |
|---|---|---|
| Hitch | Tow bar | Base plate |
| Wiring plug | Safety cables | Braking system |
| Wiring adapter cord | Wiring kit/diodes |
The custom-fit base plate installs on the frame of your toad so you can connect the car to your RV with a tow bar. Hook up safety cables between the vehicles to ensure that the toad does not separate from the motorhome if the tow bar becomes detached. Tow bar wiring syncs your vehicle's signal lights with your motorhome's tail lights, as required by law in most states. Finally, the flat tow braking system - also required in most states - activates the brakes in the toad when you hit the brakes in the RV, making for smoother, safer braking, and preventing wear on your motorhome.

Bought the Roadmaster for a Blue Ox base plate. Perfect fit. Would be 5 stars for the product but gave it 4 stars for the packaging. Theis is a heavy item and the box is merely taped -- not stapled! Unsurprisingly, the box arrived completely open. That I can tell, nothing is missing but can't be certain until everything is put together. However, this could have easily gone the other way with missing items (and the ensuing hassle to get things corrected). To Roadmaster: USE STAPLES! To etrailer: Tape it better!
The folks that designed this tow bar must have lots of experience hooking up and removing tow vehicles! Nice not to have to store safety cables and electrical wiring separately!!!
Easiest tow bar I have ever used.
Never gets in a bind where you can not unhook
having breakaway cables built in saves pinched and hanging cables
Very well made. No bind to the extensions, and they have solid feel and a positive lock. The cable management system and lighting are are very helpful. Highly recommend this bar!
Excellent product ! works great. Wish it came with a bag to cover it when not in use.
Really nice tow bar, like the led lights. Recommend the vinyl cover to help keep things dry
Tow bar appears to be very well made. Despite being made of aluminum, it is still very heavy and substantial. Lights look great and light up the area around the tow bar. Better made than the Blue Ox it is replacing (Blue ox said their tow bqr needs to be replaced after 10 years. Who makes a product that expensive that only lasts 10 years? Never again fir Blue OX for me...........
This is my second Nighthawk towbar and they are great. Easy hookup and disconnect . well built and has been very reliable.
What can I say, The Nighthawk is a top shelf tow bar. I love that it come complete with safety cables, wiring harness including the towed car side plug.
Installed the Brakeaway System and finally got a chance to use it! It worked flawlessly! I added a pic of the location for my 2023 Jeep Gladiator Mojave. This was after staring into the engine compartment for 2 days so maybe this will help someone to decide?
Glad I spent a few extra bucks for this tow bar. Like the ease of hooking up and the LED’s that light it up when connected. Had to change out the 7 way connector as it was damaged in shipment. E trailer helped me get a new connector (actually better than the original) so I’m super satisfied.
Very nice tow bar. I like the way it stores on the back of my motor home.
THis towbar has been excellent at towing my Jeep Grand Cherokee behind my Class A RV.
Only complaint I have is the location of the wiring harness, it has been pinched during tight turns a couple time, but that is also on me for doing those turns.
The Roadmaster tow setup is very easy to use and very well built. More importantly to me, the customer support at ETrailer is superb and I will be a repeat customer!
I waited four months to install my tow setup because of COVID and it was worth it. The bar lets everyone on the road know the car is in tow and it is easy to hook and unhook regardless of the angle. The only problem is that the lights on the bar can overpower the night vision of the back up camera on our coach, but you don't back up when towing anyway.
This is a nice towbar that packages up neatly and is easy to use. You do need to lift both arms to attach it to your toad. If you're alone, it's hard to lift both arms and somehow insert the pins. You'll need to work out a way to do it that works with your setup. The neck is really long on it also, with no additional holes if you want to shorten it up. Adding a hitch riser or drop makes it even longer between RV and toad. The break away cable on ours didn't even reach our RV, much less attach to something. We added another cable from the RV and all works. The included cables are what they are in general. No shortening or lengthening them out of the box. We have had a few binds that the handles didn't resolve. Wiggling and finagling does the job like any other towbar. It does seem to be really great quality and overall I would recommend it.
I have purchased many Roadmaster products and they are generally well made. This unit had some fit and finish issues and the light strips are attached with adhesive and black silicon sealer. After having difficulty getting functionality in the wiring between the RV and towed vehicle and extensive testing the ground wire in the Roadmaster cable harness was bad. I called eTrailer as they are always very helpful/knowledgeable. In this instance they advised Roadmaster prefers to handle and quality issues. Roadmaster technical assistance was excellent, but the only choice was to return the whole tow bar and have them fix it or have them send a replacement wire harness and install it myself. Not wanting to wait for two-way shipping and repair I opted to do the repair and they shipped me a replacement wire harness. When I disassembled the unit, it was apparent the ground wire had pulled out of the butt connector where the cable is split in the middle to splice in the LEDs along the sides.
After repair everything was functional. Hookup and release of the bars to the towed vehicle is quite easy. If the wiring was good to begin with this would probably merit 5 stars for ease of installation and 4 stars for value. I will follow up if there are any further issues.
Quick delivery and the tow bar was well packed and configured for my Blue Ox base plate. Thanks

Very satisfied with the Roadmaster Tow Bar with the Blue Ox adapter. Easy to install and have not had any issues with the tow bar binding when detaching the bar from my toad.
The hitch has worked as expected! Delivery was quick and accurate !
Big improvement over my previous tie ba r.
We've been towing our Jeep Grand Cherokee for about 8 months now with this tow bar and it's worked flawlessly! We've been places where the coach and Jeep are not perfectly aligned putting the attaching pins in a bind, but with a simple release of the handle it would release the arm and unbind the pin. Super easy to use. I highly recommend the Nighthawk All Terrain, Non-Binding tow bar. OH! The LED lights along the arm make it look great too!!

We are really pleased with our purchase of the Nighthawk All Terrain tow bar. After a full of year and about 8 thousand miles of towing our jeep with this tow bar its still like new. Again we would highly recommend buying one if you want a quality towbar.
Awesome Design. I love how everything is tucked away. It would've been nice to have some quick-connect points for the safety cables and pigtail when the Tow-Bar is in storage mode. As opposed to just wrapping the loose items and hooking back to themselves (seems tacky compared to the rest of the engineering). Beautiful Product!
The lights at night are really nice. After 1200 miles towing my F150 this towbar really works perfectly
Easy to install. Wire harness is great.
This makes ground towing less than half the work, all the wiring and tow cables stay on the towbar ready to.connect

We have used the tow bar for a 3 month trip and 3,000 miles. It works great. I really like the lights in the bar. I would purchase again.
