Features to know about

Climbing Steep, Snow-Covered Roads: Heavy-Duty Square Links Bite Hard

When the snow piles up and the road turns slick, these Titan Chain Alloy Tire Chains give you the traction to keep moving. The 7 mm (0.281") thick square links bite into snow and ice for steady grip and confident starts and stops. The heavy-duty ladder pattern keeps your tires planted for forward traction when climbing or descending steep, snowy grades.

Tackling Harsh Winter Conditions: Nickel Manganese Alloy Steel Holds Strong

Winter roads can be brutal on chains, but these are built to take it. The nickel manganese alloy steel resists corrosion and wear, even after repeated use in wet, salty conditions. The oversized cross chains and reinforced side links make this a durable setup for tough snow work or remote winter routes where you can’t afford a weak link.

No Cams, No Hassle: Simple Manual Tensioning That Stays Put

Chains with cams can loosen when you’re backing up or bouncing over uneven ground. These don’t have cams—just a straightforward manual connection that stays secure through rough terrain or changing snow depth. For an extra snug fit, add rubber or chain adjusters (sold separately). Once tightened, they stay centered and ready to perform.

Step 1 of Titan Chain tire chain installation showing chains laid flat on the ground to remove any twists before mounting on tires.

Step 2 of Titan Chain tire chain installation showing chains being draped over the tire for proper alignment before tightening.

Step 3 of Titan Chain tire chain installation showing chain ends being hooked together behind the tire for a secure fit.

Step 4 of Titan Chain tire chain installation showing chains secured on tire with front hook and tensioner for a tight fit.

Dependable Fit for Winter Work or Backup Use: Built for Confidence in Snow Zones

Whether you need chains for plow duty or to meet chain law requirements, this pair covers 15" – 17" tires with a solid, predictable fit. Each set includes two tire chains rated for serious winter traction. If you’re heading into chain-required routes or remote snow country, these heavy-duty links deliver the strength and grip you’ll want when conditions turn rough.

Confirming Your Fit

If you know your tire size, you may think you won't need to test fit your new chains. But there are a lot of variables that can affect whether chains will fit your specific tires, including your tire type, the amount of air pressure in the tire, the amount of tread wear, and the tire manufacturer.

We recommend that you order chains as early in the season as possible to give yourself plenty of time to test fit the chains and reorder if needed. This way, you won't be stuck out in the cold later with snow chains that don't fit.

You can test fit these chains in your garage or driveway, but you'll want to wait until there's snow on the ground to actually drive with them. Likewise, if you're out in the snow and come across bare pavement, you'll want to pull over and remove the chains. These chains can cause damage to the bare pavement, your garage floor, or your vehicle if they break from the wear of riding on a harsh surface.

Video Transcript for Ultimate Overview of the Titan Chain Alloy Tire Chains

What's up everybody, Adam here with etrailer. Today we're gonna be taking a look at the Titan Chain Heavy Duty Snow Tire Chains. So, these chains are gonna be rated for on-road and off-road use. So, these aren't the most aggressive chains you can get, because you can get the v-bar chains, which literally just have spikes on the outside of them. You can also get the studded chains, which are also super aggressive, but on-road use with those, you're gonna kind of scuff up your driveway, if you have some pavement there. I don't suggest that.

I think these are pretty much the best value when it comes to chains. One, they're heavy duty, you can see it in the title. And what makes them extra heavy duty compared to the other ones, is this pretty little color you see right here. So, we do have a Manganese-Nickel alloy steel construction, but we do have zinc coating right here, which is gonna make it a lot stronger than some of the other chains on the site. I just like grabbing chains that look like this, 'cause I know that they've been treated, so, they're gonna last a very long time.

These are gonna give you a lot of traction. So, these are seven millimeter thick square links. So, the square links is really nice because it has these a little bit harder edges. So, it's gonna give us a lot of traction, but not too much to where we're gonna damage our driveway. Again, I think these are pretty much the best value when it comes to what you're really getting.

It's high quality stuff and the fit is extremely well. We don't have the cam tensioners, so we don't have to keep an eye on that tool that you have to use. This gets a really good tight fit out of the box. All we have is this little lever here, which is plenty big. So, even with gloves on, you'll be able to tighten it up really easily and link it onto this.

I'm just a fan of these. We will have to get some rubber tensioners whenever we're done, but those will be in front of our wheels, but those are rubber, so, we're not gonna affect that. But notice even if we have high snow, the only really section that's really gonna hit this specific wheel might be this, but I really doubt that we're gonna have enough snow to where it's gonna actually go in and scratch this up. All in all, all you need to do is look at your owner's manual, make sure you're putting on the right set of wheels. These aren't S-Class certified, so, make sure that your vehicle doesn't need to have S-Class certified chains. But the fact that these go on-road and off-road, I think is awesome, 'cause you can get stuck in both places. Especially with off-road, these could just be used to get you out of a muddy situation. So you can use them all year round. We just wanna make sure we don't exceed 30 miles an hour whenever we are driving with these on. And that just about does it for our look at the Titan Chain Heavy Duty Snow Tire Chains..

Big chunky chain, just like the product picture shows. I haven't actually driven on them yet, but they look well built. I felt I needed a big chain to deal with the added hitch weight of a 5th wheel trailer. I'm not a winter camper, but you never know when you might get caught in an early or late snowstorm in the mountains.

I got the chains that I ordered, they were exactly what I expected and they arrived when I expected. In this new walmart age of except whats available instead of what you want, that was very satisfying.

The thing that will bring me back was the level of unsolicited communication provided through this whole process. Thank you etrailer for your level of dedication to me and the product delivery.

The tire chains power me through the snow like a bulldozer. Even give me the grip to pull others back on the road.

We purchased these chains after almost not making it home from Tahoe a couple of weeks ago due to broken cable chains. My husband said he wanted "manly" chains for his truck and this is exactly what he got! We plan to head up to the mountains in a couple of days and it should be no problem.
Thanks for making a great product, maybe we will be back for another set for our car!

  • Recommended Tire Chains for 235x85xR16 Tires That Won't Destroy the Driveway
Hey James, thanks for the information. V Bar chains like item # TC2821CAM will chew up your driveway. They're going to work extremely well on ice and snow though. The Titan Chain Alloy Tire Chains item # TC2221SHD are definitely going to be a better option if chewing up and scratching your driveway is your primary concern. However, they will be less effective on ice and rough roads. Both are going to last the same amount of time depending on how you use and store them. Neither should...

  • Heavy Duty Tire Chains To Fit My LT235/85x16 Blizzak Snow Tires
The Titan Chain Tire Chains # TC2221SHD are indeed heavy duty. The extra coating makes them extremely hard and should not break on you. Although these chains are designed for a vehicle and not for a skid steer. The way your skid will twist these chains when turning is going to be putting a lot more stress on the chains than what they were really designed to take. I have not tested these chains with a skid before so I cannot confirm that these will not snap under the intense load. It may...

Tire chains are definitely a good idea for plowing snow. We have chains that will fit your 245/75R16 tires that can be used for pavement and for more off road applications such as Titan chains # TC2821CAM. I also recommend adjusters # TCSA2 to keep the chains tight and centered. For even better traction I recommend chains # TC2221SHD which have square links. Square links offer the best traction. I also recommend adjusters # TCSA2 to keep the chains tight and centered.
