Note: To determine whether you can use tire chains on your vehicle, or if they might affect your ABS/EPS functionality, consult your owner's manual.

These Titan Chain mud chains are great off-road chains. The heavy-duty, oversized cross chains and heavier-than-normal side chains are strong and durable, giving you a heavy-duty option for nearly any terrain. If you find yourself in a mud-digging situation, these chains are going to help give your vehicle purchase to pull out and keep moving. If you're more likely to see seriously icy conditions where you live, you may instead want a chain with square or V-bar links that can really bite into the ice for more traction.

Confirming Your Fit

If you know your tire size, you may think you won't need to test fit your new chains. But there are a lot of variables that can affect whether chains will fit your specific tires, including your tire type, the amount of air pressure in the tire, the amount of tread wear, and the tire manufacturer. You'll also need to know how much clearance is in your wheel well, which you can determine by measuring from your tire tread to the sidewall of the wheel well.

We recommend that you order chains as early in the season as possible to give yourself plenty of time to test fit the chains and reorder if needed. This way, you won't be stuck out in the cold later with snow chains that don't fit.

You can test fit these chains in your garage or driveway, but you'll want to wait until you're out in the wild to actually drive with them. Likewise, if you're out in the mud and come across bare pavement, you'll want to pull over and remove the chains. These chains can cause damage to the bare pavement, your garage floor, or your vehicle if they break from the wear of riding on a harsh surface.

Installing Tire Chains

Installing these chains is simple.

Lay chains on the ground to get all the tangles out

1. Lay out the chains on the ground to make sure there are no twists or kinks.

Drape chains over tire.

2. Drape the chains over your tires, making sure that the prongs attaching the cross chains to the side chains face away from your sidewalls.

Connect the chain behind the tire

3. On the back of the tire, pull the chain tight and hook the ends together. Repeat on the front of the tire.

Install tensioners

4. Drive forward 2-3 vehicle lengths and recheck the chain tension. If needed, rubber adjusters (sold separately) can be used to get a tight fit. Make sure the hooks on the adjusters face away from your tire so your wheels don't get scratched.

Quick Tips:

  • Lengthen the life of snow chains by drying them after each use before you store them.
  • Check out our installation kit with safety lights and a kneeling pad (PO34FRK) to make things a little easier when you're installing chains out in the snow.

How to Choose Snow Chains for Your Vehicle

To choose the right snow chain, you must match your tire size. Those measurements can be found on the side of your tire.

Tire size on sidewall

185/60-15

  1. (185) - indicates tire width in millimeters
  2. (60) - gives you the aspect ratio (sidewall height as percentage of width)
  3. (15) - denotes the diameter of the wheel rim in inches

I've got no complaint about the chains at all; they fit as expected. However, they just made the problem (my 2wd truck being stuck in the yard) worse. I think I'm going to have to get professional help.

by:

Havent had a chance to try the chains out yet but i have recieved some of the best customer service ever. Highly recommend etrailer.com. they kept in touch almost daily with updates and went above and beyond my expectations

by:

I received my tire chains today so it's a little premature to write a review. They're very heavy and appear well made.

by:

The tire chains look robust, I have not had a chance or need to use them yet, the customer service and attention to detail at etrailer was excellent. Tim really knew his products

1999 GMC Suburban

Seems to be heavy duty enough for me. I had lighter chains which cross links were unhooking but not breaking. Hope these will solve the problem.

by:
2006 Dodge Ram Pickup

Arrived in a timely manner, chains are very heavy-duty. Excellent product!

by:

These are the heavy duty chains that can’t be found at most tire or ag supply stores. Had them in 3 days. I did add a cross link as I thought the gap was a bit far where they hook together but it wasn’t totally necessary.

2004 Chevrolet Tahoe

2023 Toyota Tacoma

Great customer service order shipped promptly. Chains are heavy duty and fit great on my 23 Tacoma. Shopped a lot of websites trying to find good heavy duty chains without camloks as they are worthless off Road. E-trailer had exactly what I wanted and at a good price.

Still good.Only used the chains once, but they did the job.

by:

Got the chains in above picture for a hunting trip in Wyoming. Glad I did it snowed and had to use them. They worked great on my 2011 Tundra, didn’t spin a tire and not sure if I could have got out without them. Very heavy duty and should last a long time. And great customer service!

by:

Delivered quickly and the website video was helpful. I practiced putting these on in the driveway, and they’re very simple to install. I may buy a new bag to hold them in though because they’re heavy, probably 40-50 pounds, and the bag they come in is a little iffy.

  • Tire Chain Recommendations for a 2009 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited with 255/75-17 Tires
We do have numerous tire chains that will fit a 255/75-17 tire on your 2009 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited, but the Konig 245 chains will not. I have included a link to all of the available chains that will fit your tire size. If you are looking for something that can be used on or off-road there are several options in this size. First is the Glacier V-Bar Snow Tire Chains with Cam Tighteners, # PWH2828SC. Next, we have the Glacier Mud Service Snow Tire Chains, and there is the Pewag All Square...

  • Tire Chain Recommendation for an AWD Van with Tire Size 245/75-16
Typically two sets of tire chains are recommended for AWD vehicles, but I recommend checking the owners manual for your van to make sure you can use 2 sets. Some vehicle manufacturers restrict vehicles to only 1 set, or sometimes do not recommend using tire chains at all. You will also want to check for other tire chains restrictions such as class size. Vehicles with limited wheel well clearance require Class S tire chains. For your tire size, 245/75-16, we have a number of tire chain...

For a tire size of 275/65R18, a tire chain like the Titan Chain Mud Service Snow Tire Chain, # TC2439 will work well on your vehicle. This Titan chain is a dual service chain that can be used on or off road. The twist links help provide traction in both snow and muddy conditions. • Will Titan Chain Mud Service Tire Chains Fit 2021 Ford F-250
Hi Thomas; the Titan Chain Mud Service Tire Chains # TC2439 do not fit 275/70R18 tires. Titan does make the 2440 which fits the 275/70R18 but we do not carry them. Even if we did, your owner's manual specifically states "Use only SAE Class S chains" and these are not class S compatible. The only chains we offer for this tire size that are Class S compatible are the Konig K-Summit Tire Chains # KON24FR and Glacier Cable Tire Chains # PW3029C.

According to your 2017 Toyota 4Runner owner's manual the links on your snow tire chain should not be larger than 5mm thick. If you decide to use snow tire chains that have thicker links, you do so at your own risk. Most of these snow tire chains will have the Class S designation. My snow chain recommendation is the Konig Premium Self-Tensioning Snow Tire Chains - Diamond Pattern - D Link - K-Summit XXL - Size K78, part # KON84FR, because it is a Class S snow tire chain. For both of the standard tire sizes for your 2010 Toyota Sequoia of 275/65-18 and 275/55-20 the same tire chain sizes are listed. So for either size I would recommend the part # TC2327 if you have an Class S chain requirement (see owners manual). Or, if you don't and you want max mud traction the part # TC2439 would be really great with the bigger twisted links.

  • Tire Chain Recommendation for 2017 Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon with LT255/75R17 Tire Size
For off-road situations like what you mentioned your best solution is a set of Mud Service Tire Chains like the part # TC2439 which are a confirmed fit for your tire size of 255/75R17. These will give you the best possible traction in deep snow or mud. The Titan chains part # TC2326 would give you much better traction than no chains at all but they have lower clearances so if the plan would be to use them in super deep snow the Glacier set would have the advantage.

  • Do Titan Chain Mud Service Tire Chains Fit 265/75-16 Tires
The Titan Chain Mud Service Tire Chains # TC2439 do fit your 265/75-16 size tires, but as for the wheel well, that's something you will have to measure as we don't have any way of knowing how much space is inside the wheel well for any vehicle. What you need to have is 5/16" of clearance inside the wheel well to use the # TC2439 as that is the link thickness. I also recommend consulting your owner's manual, as they often have details about tire chain use.
