Wiring for a trailer usually means hacking into factory wires, but this harness skips all that. The Curt T-Connector plugs directly into the existing taillight wiring to give you a 4-flat trailer connector. There’s no splicing or tracing wires—just plug it in behind the rear lights and you’re ready to go.
Instead of pulling from the taillight circuit, this harness runs a dedicated power wire to the battery. That isolates the vehicle’s sensitive electronics and keeps your trailer lighting from overloading factory wiring. The converter box does the work of combining and regulating the turn, brake, and running signals so everything stays protected.
Once installed, you get a standard 4-flat connector that powers your trailer’s running lights, turn signals, and brake lights. It’s the common setup for most small and mid-size trailers, making it easy to hook up and go without extra adapters.
The harness can be kept inside the cargo area when you’re not towing. That keeps the terminals clean and safe from road grime or corrosion. When you need it, just pull the 4-flat out through the rear door seal—the thick weatherstrip cushions it when closed so nothing gets pinched or damaged.
If you ever need electric brakes or a 12-volt charge line, this 4-way serves as the foundation for adding a 7-way connector using an adapter kit like the ETBC7L. It’s a simple way to expand your towing setup later without redoing your wiring.

The Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness is by far the best wiring harness I have ever used. The price was below most other wiring kits, the directions were very straight forward and best of all I have been using it for over a year and it still looks and functions like day one. I would highly recommend this wiring harness.
Overall happy with the product. The hitch installation was a breeze; however the wiring was a nightmare. The instructions aren’t really that clear so we went online in hopes someone has done it.. and from this website there was a video! BUT, it was completely different from the instructions.. very frustrating but we made it work. I wish it was a little higher because my drop hitch still isn’t enough to get the trailer up high enough... but it will do for now. Quality is great.
4 stars because over all its great that it has decent grade wire, almost all the material you need for the parts to be installed, but also has installation videos. I have not had any issues sense I installed it over a year ago. I just wish it came with electrical tape to wrap around the wire as an “extra” cover for the little abrasion the wire endures.
Pro tip: ...always secure your trailer chains and wire high enough off the ground before departing....
The video covered a 2015 Jeep Cherokee. My 2015 Jeep Cherokee came apart a bit differently than the one in the video. This is what I would call a intermediate install. If I were to do it over I would order the "2015 Jeep Cherokee T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector" by Tekonsha. This one installs on the inside of your vehicle and you must hang the plug and wire outside your back hatch to use. The Tekonsha wires on the outside of the vehicle and you don't have to open any doors to hang the plug out so you can hook up a trailer.

Thank You!
Couple problems: first, this does not feed all the way through the frame and out to the hitch. It’s meant to stay in the spare compartment and be dangles out the door when you need it. I decided I didn’t care, and I’ve been using it a year now with no issues. It’s high quality and weather hasn’t seemed to affect it. I’ve driven in rain, snow, and mud (Michigan conditions) with no issues. Only downside is the installation and having to “figure out” some solutions, like running the battery cable down the body from the driver side tail light, or grounding the unit inside the tail light compartment because there isn’t enough wire to ground inside the vehicle. All in all, works, lasts and solves the problem.
My resent experience with etrailer will cause me to consider other options in the future.
I placed an online order for a trailer hitch. A couple hours later I realized I needed a wring kit, so I called to speak to a representative to see if it could be added to the previous order. I was assured that the two orders would be arriving together.
The delivery arrived a few days later, so I scheduled an installation with a professional installer. When we opened the box, we discovered there was no wiring kit. The hitch installation was scheduled and completed without the wiring.
Upon investigation I discovered the wiring kit was not added to the original order and did not ship for several days even though it was in stock. When I called to inquire, no explanation was given. The wiring kit arrived over a week later requiring a second installation appointment and additional cost.
I will definitely look for an alternative source in the future!
Works as expected. Plenty of length to route the wires. I didn't have to tug to get them in place or contort in weird positions to get the car back together with the cables plugged in.
I cut the four wires to the trailer connector and routed them through a grommet in the wheel well so I could mount the connector outside. Still plenty of cable even after routing it that way. The instructions were clear and easy to follow.
After a year the right light (brake, turn ,and tail) on the car stopped working. I unplugged the trailer wiring harness and light works again. This is the second harness I've had to install the left side went out on the first one.I dont tow much with my Jeep but, I took a short trip puliing my motorcycle and it started then and the a couple of weeks later the light stopped working.
This product works great. The install was really easy and the videos on etrailer.com were perfectly detailed as always. The plugs plug right in line with the tail lights. The trickiest part is making sure the controller box is positioned inside the cabin but I just slipped the wires through the vents in the bottom corners of the tire well. Customer service was extremely responsive and helpful so if you have any questions installing this or any other product, Just reach out to them.
Needed this product to supply ample current to my trailer lights since my tow vehicle uses LEDs instead of traditional light bulbs. Was easy to understand the instructions and install. Works great!
Installed on my 2016 Cherokee Latitude. Followed the video and the installation went well. Instead of using the butt connectors I soldered and shrink wrapped my connections. If you have the 9 speaker with subwoofer, you have to remove the two screws from the subwoofer and pull it out toward the interior to get the T connector in the hole on the passenger side taillight. Wiring kit is great and high quality. Shipping was fast. Thanks etrailer for a solution for those without the factory wiring.

They are doing fine and holding up well..satisfied. Thanks for checking.
All went well. It took more time but was relatively easy. The instructions to pull down on the tabs but it should be push up so the plastic assembly would disengage form the bumper panel. Electricity went well but I have an engine light on which means I need to up grade my computer if it does not go off. Checked OBD codes and their were none.
Excellent service, fast delivery and good quality product
Easy install
I have a 2016 jeep Cherokee Trail hawk. I put the curt-hitch and T connector wiring harness for the trailer lights on in about four hours.took my time, very easy installation good product.
This is the second unit I installed. The first unit stopped sending the blink signal to the right/passenger side blinker. I searched online for troubleshooting tips and the only one was that the ground may be loose. I tested with my multimeter and no issue with the ground. While installing the replacement I found that the double stick tape had failed and the sending unit(?) black box had come lose. Now there is tape in the only place where the new unit could go. It is too difficult to remove so I taped the new unit in the same place. I appreciated the t-connectors over cutting and splicing. The installation video is a must and I would not have tried to install on my own without it. But I had difficulty passing the t-connector through the wall to the tail light. I rewatched the video and noticed the video was spiced at 10:48 which doesn't show how this issue was resolved. There is a speaker box in the way and more of the interior panels would need to be removed in order to remove the speaker so the t-connector could be passed through to the rear passenger light. Instead I cut the green wired, installed from the outside in and spliced the wire in the spare wheel well. After completion I tested the lights and everything is working. We'll see how long this one lasts.
Great product. I bought the 2014 Cherokee tow hitch and wiring harness. Received shipment in a reasonable amount of time and at a great price. In good condition and came with user friendly instuctions. Looks and works great! I would recommend this to other users.
Hitch does work on the 2017, however only one bolt is a reverse fishwire and the rest are threaded. The kit it comes with is for all bolts being fishwired. Also the rear most bolt locations do not align for the 2017 Jeep Cherokee I worked on. Also, there is a passenger wire that has to be relocated.
This was the perfect addition to my 2018 Cherokee!
The wiring was perfect and the instructions were easy to follow!
I’m an “advanced” DIY guy so I took it a step further. I had the factory hitch installed at Jeep as part of the purchase. (Wiring excluded) I coupled this 4 flat T- Connect with the Mopar multi tow and 4 flat wiring for a nice factory look. I also ran the power wire through the cab and firewall to ensure zero weathering. This did take some extra time. Otherwise, the entire install would have been about 90 mins!
Want an easy buy for a clean look ?
Buy this, the hitch and a mounting bracket!
Thanks etrailer!
Quick delivery, fit perfect and works perfect, plug and play
On day one I installed the Curt C13172 hitch in about an hour using a pair of Rino ramps. Day two I installed the C56208 T connector harness also in about an hour. Thanks to your videos it was trouble free. The most time consuming part was feeding and securing the main power lead from the back to the front. etrailer rocks!! Your website made it easy to research and select the right products for my 2014 Cherokee Latitude. I shopped your prices and may have been able to save a buck or two but the comfort of your knowledge and great how-to videos showed me you deserved my business.

Nice of you guys to follow up. I was glad to write the review since I was well satisfied with the product and process. The hitch and harness have performed flawlessly. Your company will always be my first stop for anything tow related.
Great product. Good quality. Good instructions. Quick shipping.
Everything still works great. Primarily used for my hitch rack but when I bought a new tool box I rented a trailer to move it.
I initially installed the Mopar 82213938AF Trailer Tow Wiring Harness in the Jeep. Unfortunately, their wires are installed outside the cargo area and the wires melted onto the exhaust. Not only did this burn the fuse, it apparently fried the CPU rendering this very expensive system useless. I replaced it with this system which was much easier to install and is working well.

That does not sound fun Gary. I'm so glad this wiring harness fit your needs, and turned your experience around for you!

Its has been a year and it is still performing perfectly.

It took about 3 hours to install. It would have been helpful knowing how to punch through the engine bay firewall grommet. I used a wire coat hanger by cutting the straight portion, using wd-40 on the wire coating and finally taping the hanger / wire together.
Otherwise, everything you need is in the box!!
Great job etrailer!
