Should Vehicle Battery Be Disconnected Before Installing Curt Wiring Harness C56208
Updated 07/13/2018 | Published 07/11/2018 >
Question:
Written instructions say to disconnect negative battery cable first. The tech in the video does not, or at least doesnt show that. Do I need to disconnect the negative cable?

Expert Reply:
It is always a good idea to disconnect a battery terminal before installing any electrical device, including a wiring harness, on any vehicle. It is likely that our video team just edited that specific step from the video. Since Curt 4-pole harness # C56208 does require a +12V power connection at the battery this step will help avoid the risk of an accidental short that could cause injury and/or damage the item being installed.
