Specs:
This carrier lets you transport 4 sets of skis and poles or 2 snowboards on your vehicle's roof without the need of a permanent roof rack. Vacuum cups attach in seconds to the roof, trunk, or glass on your car, SUV, van, motorhome, or trailer. Because it doesn't require a permanent installation, it's great for transporting your skis when you're traveling by rental car. And if you're worried that vacuum cups won't stay attached to your vehicle, you can rest assured because each vacuum cup provides 210 lbs of suction, giving you a total of 840 lbs of pull strength. Your skis aren't going anywhere! Additionally, the rack stores easily in your trunk while you're on the slopes, or in your suitcase while traveling.
The front and rear carriers are quick and easy to mount, and you can space them far enough apart to prevent them from interfering with the bindings on your skis. To install the rack, make sure the mounting surface is clean and place it on your roof, trunk, or window glass then press the pumps several times until the orange bands disappear. Depending on the surface they're mounted to and the load being put on them, suction in the cups will decrease over time. Make sure to check the plungers before you get into your vehicle. When you see the orange indicator bands show simply re-pump the plungers.
To break the seal on each cup and remove the rack from your vehicle, simply pull the T-shaped tabs up and towards the center of the cups - it's that easy. Remove the body and vacuum cups and store them in your trunk or garage, or put them in a storage bag or suitcase to take with you.
To carry your skis or snowboards just slide them into the soft, padded slots on the carrier. There are dedicated slots for 4 sets of skis or 2 snowboards and smaller slots for your poles.
Snap-in retention cords secure your skis and poles to the carrier. The cords have soft pads to prevent them from scratching your skis.

Hi Wendy, Thanks for your feedback! There does happen a locking system for the SeaSucker carriers. You can use either the SeaSucker Cable Anchor for Cable Lock - Window Mounted, part 298-BA0010 , or the Trunk mounted version, part 298-BA0020 . This will allow you to run a Cable lock through the anchor and into the ski carrier, where you can then clamp the carrier onto the cable and lock the carrier. I would recommend the etrailer Cable Lock, part e98891 .

I reached out to my contact at seasucker and the Ski Rack locks are designed for the key to remove only from the lock while in the locked position.

Thank you for your review. It is highly recommended that you store your rack at room temperature 60F+ prior to use according to the installation instructions. Simply take the rack inside a hour or two prior to installation to allow the vacuum cups to become pliable.

As these killer suction racks are a seasonal thing I cant yet expand on my initial review, but given how well they performed then I have no doubt my skis will not be somewhere down the highway rather than strapped securely on my roof even in the most challenging weather and driving conditions.
