Will the SeaSucker Ski and Snowboard Carrier Work on a Vehicle's Back Glass?

Updated 12/10/2025 | Published 11/12/2025

Question:

2007 FJ cruiser owner and considering the Pallavicini sea sucker to go on the rear door window above the spare. Other posts indicated vertical mounting is okay as long as skis parallel to ground. I also see suction cups on glass with its use on Tesla roofs. Do you see any concerns with this proposed application - near vertical on glass?

Hey Chris. The only concern I would have is the capacity of the glass with the extra weight placed on it. The SeaSucker Ski and Snowboard Carrier item # 298-SK2425 is definitely going to work though. The manufacturer has approved this type of use. Each carrier weighs 5 lbs and they'll attach to your back glass with no issues and there's no minimum spacing requirements.

Hey Chris, how did the SeaSucker ski and snowboard carrier work out on your FJ Cruiser’s rear glass? It’d be great to hear how the near-vertical mount held up on the road. Your experience could help others thinking about a similar setup.

@JerredH Thanks for the follow-up. I have not yet made the purchase as I wish to confirm I will not be potentially damaging the hinged window. I will amend my comments if / when I do try this approach.
